at9
Makes you wonder what else lurks in museum stores. Museums are a bit like icebergs, only 10% is visible above the surface. The V&A has a huge costume collection which must contain some interesting stuff. There were quite a few stunning shoes and boots from earlier times. A few are in this book which ought to be an essential item on the shelves of all HHP members: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shoes-Linda-OKeefe/dp/0761101144/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1305959139&sr=1-2 I'm sure a few of us would like a pair like the one at LACMA. They actually look quite wearable too. Lacing them up would take a while:smile:
Thighbootguy
They really are very nice boots. If you look closely you will notice they are lace up boots with no speed hooks or zippers. It was a real commitment to wear them. Here are a couple of other vintage crotch high boot pics: http://whatmenreallysayaboutwomen.com/flyonthewall/archives/46 http://www.life.com/image/50594608 http://www.life.com/image/50594607 I dream of a world where chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned. JeffB
WOW! Amazing boots, especially for the time in question! Looks like there had been some pretty progressive designers back in the day! Incredible! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
