Bubba136 Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I thought that the people in the US had lost their minds and gone way overboard with it came to enforcing silly laws....but, this takes the cake~! "Pet shop owner fined £1,000 and told to wear an electronic tag... for selling a GOLDFISH to a boy aged 14" You people in the UK have flat lost your minds and are, truthfully, "F***ing Nuts!!!!! With the state that the economy is in, and all of the people unemployed, the government has nothing better to do? No wonder there's going to be a "revolution"....... Read more: Gold Fish Sale Has Dr. Shoe found a job, yet? How about Francis....the last I heard he was trying to settle a dispute with the housing people...... Quite frankly, given the spirit individualism that I've always found in the UK, I am surprised things have gone and gotten out of hand this far. Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

jojo Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 It's not so long ago that a trader in the UK was prosecuted for selling his wares by the pound and not by the kilogram - it just confirms that the lunatics have taken over the asylum.
partyshoes Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Bubba, you are just scratching the surface!! This country has not only lost its mind but is trying to drown itself in bureaucracy - we are not on way to becoming a nanny state ... we are already a nanny state! If officials spent less time worrying about what we do and spent more time concentrating on running the country efficiently, we would be in a far better state! Not that I feel strongly about it Gingers Rogers did everything Fred Astair did .. but backwards and in heels
blender Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 You people in the UK have flat lost your minds and are, truthfully, "F***ing Nuts!!!!! aint that the truth if i could move from this country i would, its fast becoming a police state, where the government monitor all of our movements and want to know the ins and outs of everything. CCTV everywhere, speed cameras everywhere innocent hard working people get punished and the crooks go free to do what they want. this country is turning into a communist state>
new_look Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 dont even get me started. I could crash the board with the amount of annoyance i could write about this country at the minute

Bubba136 Posted March 31, 2010 Author Posted March 31, 2010 Isn't this article a day early? I don't know, Is it? I copied it from a UK website and would assume that tne people in the UK can figure out dates......... Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Tech Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 dont even get me started. I could crash the board with the amount of annoyance i could write about this country at the minute Ditto, I spend all day every day dealing with complete incompetence and lack of ability by almost every company I have to deal with... We could probably crash the internet if we both got started... Deal with enough of it, enough of the time and you truly start to wonder "Am I the only person who gives a crap?" lol As for the gold fish, that has to be a wind up.. heelguy Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 The punishment is rediculous, but the crime should not go un-dealt with, at the end of the day, if the lady selling the animals didn't care for them enough to make sure they were being sold into capable hands, then something needed to be done about it, but a curfew and electronic tag, that's just silly.
Dr. Shoe Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I don't know, Is it? xaphod Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I'll try and keep my vituperation in check but ..... The bunch of socialist loonies who have all but destroyed the country I once loved by the triumph of spin over substance are, hopefully, going to be out on their ear at the next election. Unfortunately, we have the choice of a dour calvinistic Scot with a huge chip on his shoulder, or an Eton-educated toff who can't be trusted to lock up his bicycle properly, let alone run the country, for Prime Minister. (David Cameron chained his bike to a concrete bollard. The bollard was about 4 feet high, so the thief merely lifted the bike and chain clear of the bollard ! ) Neither of these worthies (ha ha ) have had any experience of industry (Chartered Engineer, me) and have never generated any added value in their life. Mr Brown's degree is in Economics, and seems to have been usefully employed in burying about £204 billion of debt in the 'Private Finance Initiative'. True, this has been used to build grand projects, but on terms favourable to developers who expect to reap handsome rewards for their invsetment over the next 30 years, rewards that pay much more interest on capital than would have had to be paid if the Government had issued bonds or gilts on the money markets as in the normal manner. The other chappie runs a Public Relations company; in other words a bunch of bullshit boys who con people, against their better judgement, into thinking that some enterprise is good for them, only for the people to find out too late that they've been swindled. As an example of this, a young impressionable man (me), believed a certain Prime Minister who said, "Join the Technology Army, and we'll see you straight." Only later in life did I find that political pundits of the time used to joke:- How do you know if Harold Wilson is lying ..... easy, his lips move. Even so, the impresssionable young man rose to be quite noted in a small rarefied circle in his profession. His contribution to added value was to be on the large team of Engineers in the UK and Europe who designed the GSM mobile phone system. When I see these political wassocks organising my life, believe me, I have VERY little respect for them. To quote Plato: A man who does not involve himself in politics finds himself governed by his inferiors. Xa
partyshoes Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Now folks - dont jump to any conclusions ... its not that we have any issues with our government here in the UK! Well, maybe one or two ... OK, we Do have issues with them ... A WHOLE LOT!! They all need a damn good at the next polls - just to remind them who put them there Gingers Rogers did everything Fred Astair did .. but backwards and in heels
Bubba136 Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 31st March instead of a day later? Am I to understand that this article isn't the real thing....rather, it is a April Fools day joke? It's hard to tell if it is because the subject matter is so close to actually being what government's today are doing to everyone....... Clarify please! Bubba136 Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 OK, we Do have issues with them ... A WHOLE LOT!! Tech Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 To quote Plato: A man who does not involve himself in politics finds himself governed by his inferiors. Xa Thats spot on, especially for all those pillocks who sit about complaining what a state the country is in, but then in the same breathe say "I'm not voting for any of them". Having cake and eating it? Not on this one... I'm surprised at your restraint on what is such an infuriating issue... Dawn HH Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Someone mentioned that maybe they should move to another country. Well---don't move to the good old U.S.A. because we aren't much better here with our governments, state, local, or Federal. But then again, it hasn't been established whether this article is an April Fools Day joke or not. One thing positive here is that our Governments here sure are a joke of the cruelist kind and aren't getting any better over time. Don't get me started because by the time I would finish telling you all about it my fingers would be worn down to a nub by the time that I would finish the typing of it all. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Histiletto Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Time for all of us to become part of the solution instead of bystanding and watching the dominant parties control the political system. In the U.S., the original intent of public service was to be borne by its citizens, not by career politicians. There has got to be some sort of community action groups that champions some cause we could get behind. If not, find a way to start one. We get the government we let happen.
Bubba136 Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 Well said, HS. While the consensus here in the US, amongst the political watchers, is that a lot of our current representatives and senators will not be reelected in November, thereby switching both houses away from the solid Democrat majority that party has enjoyed since Obama's election. While over ½ of our population seems to look forward to reigning back some of the more bothersome legislation they have passed, November is many months away and a lot can change between now and then. What I don't understand is how the people in the UK can continue to support a government that they don't believe in? Are there so many voters there that blindly accept letting the government interfere in their lives the way that it dose? I always thought that one of the strongest points of capitalism was that everyone has an equal chance to fail.....and, when they do, to get up and renew the fight to succeed --- again, again, and again. Where am I going wrong......? Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

borg Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Please check page 34, http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2008/pdf/hist.pdf you will see that as a percentage of GDP, taxes were much lower from 2002-2008. Corporate taxes were also much lower from 2001-2004, after which they went up as they tried to balance the budget that was totally out of hand due to DOD spending.
