I became a show off when my wife told me how good I looked in black strappy heels. I wear them with shorts or with rolled up jeans, just to make sure that there are not doubts about me wearing heels.

I originally voted for "Neutral", but now I've gravitated to "Showoff" since I began wearing skirts while on outings. No way to hide your heels when your legs are on full display for the whole world to see! And since I like to think I have a great pair of legs (especially in a short skirt), I don't mind that at all! HA!

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

BR, you should brave a higher heel, upto 3" and in full view, unless it is overtly feminine (aka Stiletto) of course, you'll find that no one will bat an eyelid as long as you just go about your business as if there was nothing whatsoever out of the ordinary. Gets tougher once you go above 3".

Of course this doesn't mean don't wear stiletto heels, far from it. If you have the confidence to do so, then what are you waiting for. However, most guys don't and so the blockier/cuban heels are a much better and easier to wear without feeling you've got a big neon flashing sign over your head saying - "look at me wearing pervy girls heels". We know they are not pervy, but it is how we and society at large are programmed to think - sadly.

I have to take my hat of to the guys who wear stiletto heels out and about. They do fly in the face of public perceptions, and are certainly taking a risk because anyone who is different is a potential target and you only have to be one block out to go from safe to unsafe. Still the more it is done, the more others in the safe zone will see and join in and so it spreads. I just like to not have to worry about where I wear heels and if they have to be cubans to wear them wherever I please, then so be it.

Simon.

Hi Simon,

Many thanks for your response and advice I have taken it all on board and am now considering finding a suitable town/city to try heeling in.

It has crossed my mind from read the posts and replys across the forum that perhaps our heel wearing colleagues who do live in large metropolitain areas have a slightly easier time than those of us that live in rural areas. Also, now this could just be my imagination, but do some of our state side heel wears find acceptance easier than we do here in the U.K or is it just as location sensitive over there.

Look forward to hearing your ideas and anybody elses opinion on this

Kind regards

Billy

I voted discreet as i have pair of 3inch brown knee highs that i hope to wear out more. I've gotten some longer jeans that cover them pretty well. The same i had on when i saw the guy from next door and he's never anything about it. Its to much of a secert for me to ever wear them where i live in the day. I am planning on wearing them out in the next town from here i'll feel safer (?) there.

Would have to be discreet for me as there's only one person who knows about me and thats a male friend who caught me wearing a pair of clear platform wedges :winkiss:

I know just how you feel on that one a good friend of mine caught me in some clear platform boots a few years ago. After he saw me he never said a word about it. No i'm lying he asked me once why i was doing it ans i just went red and left. After that its never been spoken off since. As for the heels i shoved them into a bin to hide them ( i was in a HUGE panic at this time ) and the binmen came 30mins later :silly: there went £60 of knee highs.

Hiline,

I guess your boots have a distinctly feminine heel so covering them I can understand. At 3" high, your walk is hardly altered, and if necessary you can run just as you would with a 1" heel, but it is the limit for proper running. If the heel is slim, then running will not be an option either.

Despite what Kneehighs, Stilettoscot, Maximillian, Happyfeet, and JeffB plus others may say, it is HARD for most guys to get over the hill of wearing heels and especially as it seems to be all about wearing of stiletto heels which our programming tells us is either pervy or fetishy and its a real mind game to get a stiletto heel to the fashion for man thing. It is so much easier with a cuban heel though.

I've been there and I am so glad I found 7cm cuban heels in a mens range from Archie Eyebrows. I wear heels ALL the time. They are stable, strong, sufficiantly high ehough to know you are wearing heels, and get nothing but positive remarks from both women and men. What I would like is to have them made in 8cm, 9cm, or even 10cm. I will have to drop Terry de Havilland an email about this.

BTW, if a 9cm or 10cm cuban heeled zippered ankle boot (Lenny) http://www.archieeyebrows.co.uk/collection.htm who would be interested? I might as well know. BTW, the price n the website is wrong. It isnt £240, its £175. Sure its steep, but over half the price of my Avatar Johnny boots. They are full leather and properly made by craftsmen. Worth every penny.

But whatever heel you choose to wear, do NOT try to hide it all under your trousers/pants. It looks so tacky to have the hem of the trousers/pans dragging on the floor. You only hide it because you are not confident enough to wear the shoes. Gain confidence in lower/cuban/block heels 3" high first. You will be so surprised how quickly you will find you wear them wilt the heels in view. Save stilettos for evenings and fun times just as the ladies do.

It took me a long time to find my comfort zone and the heels I was happy to wear. You could take this as me saying I don't like stiletto heels. nothing could be firther from the truth. I do not see why men cannot wear them if they want to. The man may not look good in them, but that should not mean they shouldn't wear them. I would lke to incorporate them into my wardrobe, but right now it is something I am not ready to do and maybe I never will (dressed as a man anyway) but I am happy to be using mens cuban heeled boots and also womens heeled boots with thicker heels and no fine pointy toes either as often as I wish (my SO refers to these boots as my dyke boots).

BR, glad you found some my post useful. Its not about finding a suitable town/city to heel in, rather it is about finding your comfort zone in what you are preparred to wear and have others see you wear. That will become your baseline. People soon get used to wearing heels and once that is done, and your confidence is sorted, then you can add variety and start selecting from the female side to add spice.

But whatever you wear, enjoy it.

Simon.

Are you confusing me with someone who gives a damn?

It is a mental hurdle but by extending your comfort zone you can get over it. It's very much about extending your comfort zone. It's very clear from my pant length I'm in heels. I look & feel good in 'em -- and it shows in my attitude & confidence.

Indeed it is a mental hurdle, the height of which is determined by your location. Central London - Manhattan are two places where the hurdle is really low and you would have to be a limbo expert for it to stop you getting out in some sort of heel, but it isn't universal. Some places your whole body is not welcome, let alone what you have on your feet.

Its why I am such a devotee of cuban heels, these are a good half way house.

I also feel it's time to end gender based clothing that men should have the same fashion rights as the woman have enjoyed for 60 years. Equality in Fashion!

^ and therein lies the rub. Stiletto heels, pointed toes are such feminine icons that men can't bring themselves to wear them outside of the privacy of their own space, but the overwhelming desire to do so remains. So what can you do about it? Having read the various posts from those who do there are a couple of options. 1. Go en-femme and then you can wear what you like. This may not be what you want to do. 2. Don;t just concentrate on the footwear, consider very carefully your whole look. Blur the gender lines carefully and above all stylishly and then you can work stiletto heels into the mix. To my mind you should ALWAYS consider the whole look regardless of the footwear as you are often judged on first appearances and how you look is essential. Consider carefully the places where you would go and also the time of day. You will find it far easier to wear stiletto heels to a nightclub than a mall. Take your queues from women. They almost to a woman will wear high heels when clubbing, but when shopping the comfort shoes rule. It is rare to see a woman shopping in heels above 3" stiletto or otherwise. Kneehighs has perfected this and his numerous postings back this up. I may be wrong, but it seems that he reserves his heels for socialising/clubbing and wears low heels at other times often emulating the female styles such as boots over skinny pants (which he carries off well 'cos he's got the right shape - lucky man). JeffB is taking a slightly different route with his skirted experiments, but note that as a daytime wearer, his shoes fit the conservative mould, not extreeme - as would a woman's choice be. You can do it, but there is a price. For me, I stick to cuban heels for male mode. Simon

When I voted for this thread few month ago I say that I "would like to wear them, but circumstances will not allow you to wear them". But today it had change and I wear my own heels...I can feel by myself that wearing heel consists in...and I just love it...So I wear my ankle boots heels only at home at this time!

I voted "Privacy" and I seem to have more complex or simple concerns than most people here. It does seem strange for me to now look back over my life from when i first discovered I like to wear heels to now and the transformation that has occured. I first tried heels on when i was about 10, i fould my sisters clubbing heels and was instantly taken by them. She was older and i was small so i tried them on, ti was a squeeze but they fit! I certainly wore them a good few times after that. Then as my feet grew I had to improvise, I had a friend whos sister, although younger, had HUGE feet, a UK 8, this is back in the 90's and they were hard to get then, so she had a few pairs. i would stay round his house, sneak downstairs or to the toilet and wear them. it was hte most risky thing I have done and I almost got caught more than once. Funniyl enough I eneded up dating his sister for some time and she never knew that I would still trry her heels on, she must have thought I was an excellent boyfirend, I was buying her all the shoes I could find! Soon after we broke up I started buying heels for myself, still a size 9 I could squeeze into an 8, one of my feet is a whole size smaller than the other anyway and it was easy. i lived at home and to make sure my parents didnt find them I hid them in the loft, under the water tank. But I was always paranoid that I would be found out and then threw them. I spent A LOT of money on heels to wear themonce and throw them away. Alas ym all time faverout heels, a pair of open toe mesh slingbacks, with 2 inch platform and 6 inch stilletto heels got thrown in a paranoid panic, even though I knew no one would know. i was so used to buying shoes for my girlfriend, I was on first name terms with local shop staff. i had to stop gong in when they remarked they didnt see us together anymore, i didnt have the guts to tell them i was now single. I then started seeing a girl I got heavily into thigh high boots, she would wear them all the time and I loved it, but I loved going into shoe stores and sex shops and fetish wear shops because I could have a sneaky look at mens sizes when she turned her back. Eventually I got married, i told my wife about my fetish and she acceped it at first but then when she saw me in boots she freaked out, now I have to hide them from her as she says it makes her sick. I have three pairs of boots and several pairs of shoes. I wear them at home when she is out. Once, for a laugh, i took them out in the van with me in with my gym kit. I didnt go to the gym, i spent 3 hours driving round town in them. i was terrified someone would look in the window and see them. Why does it make me so paranoid? Even I laugh about it now! have you ever been able to see another drivers shoes? What was I thinking. Today, I still wear them home alone. I have thought about wearing them out, in private, maybe in a park, or a deserted car park. I think one day i might but i know it would look wierd. You see im 6 foot 3 inches of 20 stone rugby player. its hard to pass off heels when you look like you could eat most people for breakfast, I'm not saying thinner smaller guys have it easier, but lets face it, im not built to look like a girl. id look terrible in a dress, even though I have worn them in the past at home (thats a hard style/size to find!) So will i wear them, blatantly in public. Unlikely it will ever happen. :)

I voted PRIVACY, because I don't feel like going out yet. I'm more of a shy and quite reserved person, but hopefully I'll build up enough confidence to break the barrier someday.

I'am like you, wearing heel outside seems to be impossible...I can't imagine me had the courage to do that!what style of heels do you wear in privacy?

Long, boot cut pants/jeans are great for hiding most of the heel while you're walking. You'd probably want to look for a pair that 2" + (or equivelent cm) longer than your regular length. You might also consider boots, they're apt to look less feminine, and also will provide better ankle support.

Sure I would like to wear some heeled boots outside with bootcut jeans hiding heels, but the heel will make noise and everybody will see that I'm wearing girl shoes...Moreover I think I'm too young for streetheeling...

Definitely boots, either with a square or pointed toe. I'm not really into any other types. The two pairs I currently own are 3 1/2" block and 3 1/2" stiletto heels, although I'm planning on getting some more.

You'll need to work to find quiet shoes: it's not easy, but it's possible. I also think you'll find some other heelers here that are your age or younger.

I've found that crowded, public locations work best for heeling. I've had good outings at shopping malls during the holiday season.

I think if you read some of the 'first time' postings on the website, you'll see that almost everyone was nervous the first time they went out.

i voted descreet, but going into neutral, so far i have just gone to public places like a supermarket in boots, they're kind of androgynous, though they're 4" high, in my office i wear any kind of shoe, as a matter of fact though not going all the way, and not knowing if i will, i shave my legs daily and from time to time paint my toe nails, usually red, dark red or some colour of the sort, at home my wife likes it, though we're working on the children, the've already seen me wearing heels and panted toe nails, my next goal is to wear them everywhere, i just want to broaden little by little the aknowledged people that know me, mostly because i am dedicated to business design, comercial, pop, industrial, and graphic, so i really want to keep my customers. i'm really trying to handle my life as normaly as posible, i.e. when i go out wearing my heels trying to forget about other people.
