  1. I find that most people who tell you they're open minded are not. The more they tell you this, the more likely they are to be critical.

I agree with Dr. Shoe here. The fact that they're telling you they're open minded usually means they're actually compensating for narrow mindedness. I think we all know people who've never commented on our seemingly 'strange' shoe or boot choices and many of us attribute this to them just not being observant. I think the truth is that these are the truly open minded people in our lives.

  2. I usually do well with my 4" heeled western boots but today I'm so darned tired and sore from shoveling my driveway and roof(s) that it's clogs for me today.. I don't like to wear heels when I'm beat.. Charlie

  3. I think that by far men themselves pose the most opposition to men wearing high heels. Like always, a guy who wants to wear heels has to literally stand on his own two feet so to speak and just do it regardless of any backlash from either gender. The male heel wearer has many options to control the level of this backlash. For those who don't mind backlash at all, capris with spiked heels and nylons or even a skirt is fine. For those that can take some backlash, perhaps chunkier clicky heels with long pants. For those like myself that just love the feeling but want to keep that to themselves and blend in, long bootcut jeans with chunkier heels that have a softer rubber heel pad for stealth is the way to go. I can say that from personal experience 4" heel height is EASILY wearable all day long with zero backlash using the later approach so there's no excuse to stay on the sidelines. I won't underestimate the innate value of having a wife that's understanding. Who becomes our wife is also our choice though.. Just get out there and do it if that's where your interest is taking you! Charlie

  4. I think the overall look is pretty cool for a rock musician, with the all-black, the shades, and the boots above all!

A discussion point I would like to suggest, is the idea that, if anyone is going to blaze a trail for male high-heeled fashions, rock/heavy metal musicians might play a key part in leading that trend. Rock and metal music has previously included trends such as long permed hair, leather, eyeliner, etc. I witnessed at high school, some years ago, classmates experiencing harrassment purely for having long hair. This shows rock/metal trends go against the grain, and I wonder how far away rock musicians are from rounding their stage gear off with boots, spike heels, etc...?

I remember when you could tell which kids did bad in school by who came back the following week with a butch haircut. This was a form of punishment at the time. Now all the kids wear butches. Either the style has changed or it's yet another indicator of the dumbing down of Amercia. LOL

Rock musicians have been wearing heels for years. I personally met Randy Rhoads back in the day as my best friend is his half brother. I knew him before he was really famous. Randy was a few years older but I remember looking at one of his original Quiet Riot lp covers and seeing him and all the other guys in the band wearing heels. It was interesting to me because even that early on I was developing an interest and I mistakenly took this as "Cool! Men wear them too!". :-(

  5. I go out of my way to buy heels that are made of rubber or a similar synthetic. They might not be your style though, they are usually chunky heel or wedge heel, and typically you can only find them 3-4" range, but I have a few pairs that are up to 5" with non-clacking heels. Almost 3/4 of my collection have heels similar to avoid that sound since I too want to avoid attention.

I found two example pictures online that are kind of close to some that I have that and I know both are quiet heels. Yes, and before you tell me those are ugly, well I sort of agree, but you know, it shoes like this that work for a stealther like me.

If you shop carefully and patiently, non-clacking heeled shoes don't have to be as ugly as the ones posted here... I do have some nice quiet ones that are actually good looking too. :silly:

Last note, there are vendors that sell rubber heel replacement tips for stiletto heels if you must keep that style, here is one I found on a quick search on ebay...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260495455171&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=%3F*I7&GUID=0ec124f91260a0265347abe7ffce6fba&itemid=260495455171&ff4=263602_263622

I have a pair of the exact boots you're showing on the right hand side (with the laces going up the back). Great pair of boots for the money! They're comfortable, have excellent traction in the snow, silent, etc. I wear them all the time.

  6. I was not going to comment on simple opinionated postings here (and LailaLily's in particular) but JNR’s thoughtful analysis merits a response.

The problem with this and many other polls is that the underlying question may be asked and/or answered imprecisely, especially if a clear-cut choice is not offered. A poster’s true response or opinion is often a matter of conjecture and I think JNR’s interpretation of LL’s responses may be partially flawed; let me explain.

    1. The original poll question was (and is): 'Do Women like Men in heels?' - not ‘Do you like men in heels? – although members who are female and clearly respond to the latter question may be forgiven! So, is LL’s answer (‘No, It is sick and it goes against human nature.’) her personal view as a woman (as JNR assumes) or her belief of what women in general think of men in heels (as I now suggest)? Let us not forget that any woman who has no personal problem with men in heels might well recognise that she is in a (small) minority and would have to admit that women in general do have such a problem.

    2. LL’s second sentence is, at best, sloppily presented and unclear: ‘Im most likely going to get comments from left and right but I could careless, when society accepts immoral behavior and defends it, everything goes down from there.’ In better English (with two sentences), I think she means: ‘I’m most likely going to get comments from left and right but I couldn’t care less. When society accepts immoral behavior and defends it, everything goes down from there.’ She expects, rightly, that her expressed views may not please everyone. And I think she is then suggesting, logically enough, that unchallenged immorality results in a downward spiral in society’s values – which is not quite the same as JNR’s interpretation.

    3. I will say nothing more about anyone being answerable to God for anything or everything; a clear truism for those who are believers. But quite who the ‘they’ are, whom LL regards as so answerable, remains a matter of conjecture (as is often the case with such a widely applicable pronoun used imprecisely). Does she mean male heel wearers, people who disagree with her, or people who engage in immoral conduct?

To be quite frank, the overall imprecision of LL’s statements makes her true message almost impossible to determine and I for one am uncertain whether or not she ‘approves’ of men in heels. Only she can say and, I hope, explain herself.

Or... it could have been a diabolical plan from the beginning to be purposely imprecise so that she could sit back and laugh reading all of our posts trying to figure out what she really was saying? LOL

  7. so you think i start by wearing them around in house the one i feel i can walk in them with out slipping or falling and can walk with ease I be good to wear them other places and If you guys can help me get over over the i shaky leg feeling i have while waring them that will help as well it not like my legs are shaking you know when your scared the feeling you get when you scared that what i need to get over

The only thing that got me over the shaky leg feeling in the early days was just doing it and reading posts here about people doing it successfully day after day. How long it takes to pass probably depends on the person. Less time if you're naturally confident and more time if you need to build up your confidence. I'll help.. I wore my 4" heeled cowboy boots all day at work and went out to lunch and did some quick shopping at Walmart before returning with no shaking whatsoever. I laughed on the inside when I was walking behind a woman in the coffee isle who was wearing 4" heels as well. You'll get there too!

  8. Nope, nothing to do with time or post count, you just need to use the "insert link" button when making a post. Evan's website generates some of the WORST url's I've ever seen of any website, anywhere, ever, so its easier to simply highlight the text you want to make into a link, then click on the "insert link" icon and paste the link into it.... :silly:

I've edited it now so it works...

See? I told you it had nothing to do with how long you've been a member.. LOL

  9. Oh well.. that was how I intepreted her.. Zooming in on it like you have makes me think you're right. It's okay though.. either way it doesn't matter to me.. The only thing left to ponder is whether or not she was wearing pants when she posted this.. LOL Charlie

  10. Do you have some examples? I'm closer to your way of thinking--I'd rather wear typical 'guy' clothes with some classier boots. I don't have any interest in wearing skirts or more feminine tops, but have no problem with men who do.

Here are some links to what I have for boots:

I just got these. Outstanding boot! The only thing I don't like is that the heel is hard rubber so it makes that fem 'click' when I walk on concrete. I'll fix that by replacing the heel pads with softer ones. The heel height is exactly 3" in women's size 11.

These are from Miguel of cowboybootsusa.com. I have a custom pair in size 9.5 mens being made for me. Flat black leather with a 3.5" heel height.

I wear these 4" heeled boots by Miguel to work quite often. (in size 10 mens, Miguel's sizes run a tad on the small side..)
