  1. Agreed, Petey, nice selection and fabulous that you have fiance who approves of your heeling interest.

Are you wearing heels on your wedding day? Just kidding, just havinga supportative person makes the relationship so

    much better.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. That good to know Estar and Histiletto, I do get to Las Vegas on occasion and will look for those stores. Estar, your description of the Daf Bootie walk is what I had imagined that boot to be. Wow it would be a dream to get a pair of CL boots..

Sometimes, the cost (which was no small figure) becomes inconsequential to actually having and wearing the pair of heels that made your desire soar past the obsession for them.

Histiletto, I absolutely agree with you on that statement of yours! Nice score on the Lady Page pumps, I bet they are awesome!

  3. I recently wandered into a Fluevog store afound these great booties. Nice 4"- heel with patterned rubber sole on them that prevents slipping, they are made from nice leather which forms pretty quickly to the foot. They come black and grey (i got grey ones), plus as with many of Fluevogs, they have relative which is a laced shoe style which also looked good. Another nice for everyday wear.

  4. w6ish, sounds like an awesome halloween for you, love your stories as that is how it should be.

Thanks for sharing and giving all the nuances from the many observers that have chatted with you!

    Great posts!

  5. JeffB, you always an inspiration for getting out and just wearing whatever you like and always put together really nicely.

You certainly do much for many of us guys to just go and wear what you like. Thank you!

By the way a pleasure to see your pictures and read your posts!

  6. Hi Lvemadomina,

I know what you mean about desiger prices, big bucks $

This one place that has cheaper price sometimes.

    Another is Net a Porter,

    http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/364620/Giuseppe_Zanotti/lorenz-shearling-trimmed-suede-wedge-sneakers

E-bay is also a posibility as you probably know.

The other idea is looking at some high fashion second shops. I have visited a couple of stores that carry many good designers and their styles

which is still a lucky score when found.

    Hope that helps.

  7. I do feel that sizes are all over the place even with one designer, I have just not seen much consistance with sizing.

Shoes and Boots do differ, I have found that I get used

to producer like Dr Martins and roughly size it to that from my experience with their products.

I have been wrong several times shopping online. However the best is trying them on at a store with what sock you wish to wear,

which not always possible if purchasing from places like E-Bay or some sort sale item or quick purchase.

Still I feel it is a shot in the dark. Some of the sizing confirmations do little to convince me they will fit as compared to my sizing.

I was reading on the Louboutin website recently stating " This style runs true to size" but what is the base of the scale.

I know Italian made womens sizing shoes or boots fit me small and narrow, so as I lusted of which Louboutin Boots I would buy

if I won the Lottery, for that kind of money I finding a store to try them and be sure.

I am not convinced shoe and boot sizing is co relative, but sure is fun trying on a lot of shoe and boots!

  8. I have been looking for the perfect pair of boots for quite some time, and I still haven't found them. However, as winter is rapidly approaching, I didn't let that stop me. I wound up buying not one, but two pairs of boots on eBay. Both of them are going to work out in their own way.

The first pair pictured are Aldo. I don't know the model, but they are taller and way thinner than what I was expecting. The heel is a full 5 inches, and it is literally the size of a pencil. I do not yet know what they are like comfort-wise, because I didn't get 2 city blocks in them before I realized something was terribly wrong. The left heel was broken, and I didn't notice it until I lengthened my stride outside. My cobbler fixed them for $6.36, tax included. I shall report further once this rain stops.

The other pair I got while the first pair was at the cobbler. It's probably just in my nature to be impulsive about things like this, but I got to thinking that while the first pair was pretty cool, these little ankle boots looked a whole lot more practical. They are Guess brand (again, I have no idea what model), have a 4 1/2 inch heel, and are a dream to walk in. In fact, they felt so nice that I broke my rule about rigorously testing a new pair of shoes before I'll wear them in public. With these, I jumped in the car and went right to the grocery store to pick up a few things. Later, I went on a walk around the neighborhood. These booties are going to work out just fine. However, I did dick up one of the heels right away, stepping in a crack. I'm not really used to stilettos and being careful of things like that.

Nice catch Miro, those look so good, lucky you!

Since I discovered them on style.com, I had been hunting for Belstaff's Halewood boots (see here) since July this year. As I need them in size 41 (US 11), I pre-ordered them in the only Belstaff boutique in Germany (they only have one store in this country), and was reassured that "they will arrive in September in your size". September came... and they did not arrive. "Just wait, they will arrive in a few weeks, early October".

Meanwhile, I had visited the London Belstaff store during a business trip, but even they didn't have the boots in stock yet. I waited till October 10th, and then called the boutique in Munich again. "We are very sorry, but our store assistant might have been mistaken. We won't get this model into our store. Not at all!"

I was mad - months of waiting for some assitant screwing up. Now I started my global search. Saks in New York had them online till size 40. I chatted with someone from saks online - "yes, the store in New York lists them in size 41 - 1 pair". I called the store, but there was no pair in size 41. Only 40. I researched a few other online stores, but the largest size I could find was 40.

When I was in London, I had seen the ankle-boot version with a different kind of leather, but the same style - available on the Belstaff website in my size. So I ordered these instead, basically as a "second best" option, that I nonetheless do like very much. This weekend, I have worn them for the first time when I was doing grocery shopping. Although the are really high, the platform keeps the height to a still comfortable level.

Here's the pic from the online store:

And here are a couple of pics I just shot:

That was the first pair I bought in the last two weeks. The second one is by Marc Jacobs. Not sure whether it fits the "boots" section, although it is being sold as a "platform pump bootie".

While on the trip in London, I also visited the "Marc by Marc Jacobs" store and found a pair of ankle boots that I liked. Again, not available in my size.

After my trip, I started searching online stores for that pair (which I also found, plain black leather), but I also discovered the pump booties that even the store in London didn't have (patent & plain black leather combi). I was torn: Should I go for the regular boot or for the pump?

As I already own some boots with a chunky heel / sole from Jeffrey Campbell, I went for the pumps. I am not sure about the patent leather (it draws very much attention to your feet), but then again, I like them because they look different. So I decided to keep them.

Hey Freestyle75, wow those boots are fabulous, i really like them.

The shoes are cool too, but I am less inspired by them. Good for you being persisteant and finding them !

Once again, luck must be with me as I found a like new pair of Cleopatra......Brooke over the knee boots in a sz 11 at a local Goodwill thrift store in like new condition.......I knew that these were not cheap when new and I researched them after returning home........found them on-line at a low of $93 and a high of $130 plus shipping......they fit very well, and are very stable, not wobbly along with being easy to walk in........I got an incredible deal on them......attached is an online pic of them as it  is a lot of trouble right now to take a pic of my actual boots and post it........my boots are in excellent shape with very little signs of wear.......these will be keepers!!!!    Comments are welcome.attachicon.gifCleopatra-Brooke-Black-Women-Over-The-Knee-Boots-7-5.jpg Click on the pic to see a larger pic of the boots.

Those are really good too, god you guys are finding some boots!

  9. The demons are mostly in our heads. As guys we're afraid of what others may think about our masculinity. The truth is, you can never please everybody, so why try? Please yourself and your wife. You look great in both the boots and open toe pumps and if you turn heads, so what? You're educating the unwashed masses!

    Way to go!

    Steve

Hi P08C, I Agree with Steve, fears is mostly in our heads and once we figure out how over come that it is the enjoyment is truly for ourselves. Great combinations and looks. Nice to hear that your wife is very supportitive of your interests, kudos to her!  Enjoy!

  10. Lots of comments there;

Humans have a need to classify things to understand them better. We divide humans into two genders, male and female. But it's not that simple. Everyone is on a spectrum of masculine to feminine, and not necessarily in one or the other pigeonhole. Men have a feminine side and we're usually taught never to let it show, since masculine is strong and feminine is weak. That puts some of us (a lot of us?) in an uncomfortable situation. I happen to like carrying a purse instead of wearing cargo pants with bulging pockets; I enjoy wearing pantyhose or stockings, wearing high heels, wearing women's boot cut jeans, and sporting nail polish. Am I more feminine? I don't feel that way. I feel liberated, as a guy, to be able to wear what I want, and confident enough to do it all in public. I don't go around flaunting it; I just do it, much as any woman would wear jeans, loafers, shirt and tie, and not think of herself as masculine.

We only go through life once. Make the most of it and be yourself, wherever you fall on the M-F spectrum. Enjoy life and have fun instead of worrying about what others think. Nobody was ever successful in pleasing all the people all the time, so why try?

Life is short. I don't have to be.

    Steve

Totally agree with you Steve, that is me as well.

Not everything in life has to have the "feminine or masculine" designation to it, we have named ships planes and nature itself. But if we want wear something because we want to and we like to, It does not take away from whatever gender we are, it means we like to do something different.

  11. Picked up these awesome pumps from DSW. I really like this outfit. I don't post often but just wanted to share a few pics. I really want to go out and about dressed like this but I keep chickening out. How do you work up the nerve to just do it! My wife, although slightly reserved about it, likes the way I look and even supports my going out in public. For some reason I just can't work up the nerve. :,(

    Greetings P08C,

I agree with the others that have stated there comments and suggestions above, this is really good advice. In addition perhaps on a weekend try a a couple of hours out just to get your "feet on the ground", a confidence booster. When I started I wore my boots out walking the dog in suburb which greatly boosted my confidence. With all the stuff which is in the media these days about Ebola and stuff in the middle East, reality is someone seeing you in heels does not compare or come close to someones radar and if it does, your comfort is, "I am enjoying myself and not hurting anyone else". In the big scheme of things what we choose to wear is only for us and most other people now just do not say anything.

I wish you much confidence and a breakthrough for your confidence, which is so accessible with having support of your wife!

  12. New pair of wedge heels, I've been waiting for the cooler weather to start wearing these, Angels skinny jeans, I love them:

Hey Bcup, those very good looking, nice find!

Yes the weather has changed and it is time for boots again, yeah!

I recently purchased anew pair of boots from Fluevog called "Tinder" with a very comfy fit and a black heel, easy to walk in them

They have been getting a couple of newer shoes and boots for this fall again, some really nice styles.

  13. Good Advice TBG, that works for all of us no matter how we wear our heels/boots/shoes.

Histiletto ,really good points as well, reality is that even girls go through similar worries about how they present themselves

in public, like all the time. Just as one's wife asks for confirmation about an outfit they are wearing, they ask us for confidence

and approval to make it work for them in their minds. We also need to have some of that as well, it just may come from other people

and not the loved ones near us.  Keep going Jim102!

  14. I would be honest with and just say to her " I like these shoes" then ask what she thinks? There is nothing better than being honest with the person

who has been your teacher in life. She can not fire you! She may have a hard time to understand, but if she loves you she will listen to you.

This is the best time now to just be honest, do not be afraid, as the more you hold back, the harder it will become.

    Try it.
