  2. Nobody ever judges those contests. They just peter out without a winner
  3. Today
  4. I drive in heels and barefoot all the time (but not at the same time). I wears heels, I get in the car and drive. Only heels I not fond of driving in are stilettos, because my heel tip digs into the mat.
  5. THANK YOU for the compliment! If we have a best dressed 2025 we will need to jump on it fast,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 2026 is a commin"!!
  6. CAT, your outfits never disappoint! That electric blue dress matches some platform sandals I got last year from funkypair. I think that blue could be visible at 200 yards away. If you did enter the best dressed contest next year it would be hard to beat. I’m willing though to compete for sassiest heels though. HinH
  7. Agree with Mlroseplant and others. Was a frequent Aldo customer and made a friend who worked there 6 years. Around 2011 Aldo included half sizes and that brought about a closer correlation to other retailers and their sizes. Typically they would stock only to US11/EU42. Bigger sizes needed to be ordered online or in store. Lots of great styles and most made in China. Some styles have been produced in Brazil recently. My best advice is you should try on the heels you want in person to be satisfied. Buying a brand you have no experience with can prove a fool’s errand as sizing can vary by brand, style of vamp /toe box, and country of manufacture. Aldo is headquartered in Montreal and I’ve been in that store when visiting family members in Quebec. Keep searching and don’t give up. HinH
  8. I don't drive in heels for any kind of thrill. But If I am wearing an outfit that includes heels, I drive in them. It is a little different the way your feet hit the pedals, but I have no trouble doing it. And I don't feel the need to bring other flat shoes just to drive in them.
  9. Yesterday
  10. I’m sure there are plenty of knock offs but this one misses the boat a little because the original Hot Chicks had 13cm heels - that extra centimetre makes a world of difference as @higherheels can tell you! And I somehow suspect that wearing a cheap knock off of Hot Chicks with a 13cm heel (if such a thing is available) would be a great way to end up in A&E with a twisted ankle and a dumb backstory
  11. I claim no expertise in identifying Louboutin copies, but it took me just two minutes to find this offering on AliExpress, which appears to mimic Hot Chick (12cm heel) closely - in appearance, if probably not in quality. All for £30 and in big sizes too. And there are many others similar.
  12. Interesting! I’m guessing the comment was more observational and curious. If it was meant to be derisive, her reply - oh yes, that’s my friend - would have put him back in his box
  13. I found a clip that didn't have absolutely terrible music. I still recommend turning the sound down.
  14. It is true, sometimes we do not know the secret influence we have on others. There is a woman who goes to our church who has a greater than the usual interest in my shoes. I have mentioned her elsewhere. Last Sunday was her birthday, so I wanted to catch her after church to wish her a good one. She was talking to several other women when I approached her, so I just yelled out, "Happy Birthday!" as I passed by. Before I got three steps past, she interrupted her conversation with the ladies to tell me that some guy last week asked her if she knew that there was a man who walks around this town in high heels. Evidently, to his great surprise, she answered, "Oh yes, that's my friend." I kind of wanted to know more, but I also didn't want to interrupt whatever conversation was going on already. I do not know if the comment was meant to be derisive, curious, or complimentary. In any case, I guess I at least have the potential to inspire.
  15. I get what you're saying, and believe me, there is no apology necessary. I did want to make the distinction of wanting to get a belly button ring vs. promising to quit smoking or finish Large Project X. I think there is a big difference between those two categories of promises to oneself.
  16. My go-to brand for "high" heels has typically been Steve Madden. I have quite a number in my collection, and there are several models that exceed 11 cm, but do not quite approach 12 cm. It is obvious that Steve Madden was influenced by Louboutin, and specifically the So Kate model. Many of the shoes look like carbon copies of the So Kate to the average observer, minus the red sole, and a slightly lower heel. To the more careful observer, they aren't quite copies, but you can definitely see the style influence. What I am looking to purchase never really existed in the first place, as far as I can tell. There is a carbon copy So Kate (with 11 cm heel), but there is no carbon copy Hot Chick. In fact, there isn't even a real Hot Chick anymore. They quit making the 13 cm version a few years ago. I am not complaining, I'm just saying that I have plenty enough heels from the 7 - 11 cm range, and I just don't feel like buying more right now. Which is absolutely a good thing for a guy who's about to be laid off, most probably.
  17. Wow, that is crazy. Up until last Friday I worked at a large hydroelectric dam and knew the realities of being sucked into the intakes in the forebay of the dam. We NEVER wore life vests when working in that area because it was so dangerous that we wanted death to overtake us quickly! And because of freeing debris coming down river we worked there a lot! We had 2 divers get killed doing what that woman went through in some ways. It is known that all dams leak but on the front of a dam the water pressure is so great that even a hole too small for a person to pass through can kill you. The pressure sucks you up against the dam and pins you there. These divers ran out of air before they could be unpinned. There is a plaque on the headwall that forever depicts their deaths.
  18. From a UK perspective, I find that rather surprising. Whilst it is certainly true that genuinely high (4"+) heels, especially stilettos, are fairly rare on the high street and on some major retailers websites, there is still quite a large selection online from e.g. ASOS and the smaller and more specialised outlets, quite apart from the likes of AliExpress, Amazon etc - which regularly offer heels of 5", 6" or even more. Clearly, most of these are Chinese-made and may be of unknown quality or fit (buyer beware), but they do exist and are being actively sought and bought. I do wonder if the limited availability from local or other physical shops is self-defeating - would more heels be bought if they were more actively promoted in the high street and on display? There must be very many (youngish) women who have never had a proper opportunity simply to try 'high heels' properly, and I can't believe that they are not at least curious, however much society seems to condemn high heels for one reason or another.
  19. Thank you! I would love to think such a thing might happen
  20. Don't say that, maybe you'll inspire some men who always wanted to do it but were afraid to. The story about the woman is crazy!
  21. Last week
  22. I am getting ready to downsize homes as well. Although I won't really miss this place, but realize alot of "stuff" has to go, including some boots. This retirement thing is not all it is cracked up to be
  23. There was a nasty story a while ago about a woman who wore stilettos while watching boats come up the Foxton lock flight. She was walking on the grassy bank above one of the lock chambers when her stiletto heels sank in the soft earth, sending her toppling backwards into the feed pond that provided water for the lock. A boat was coming up the lock and she was sucked into the sluice as it filled the chamber. She somehow went through the sluice along with a few thousand gallons of water, and emerged in the narrow lock chamber bobbing around with an 18 tonne narrowboat. How she didn’t get drowned, crushed or chopped up by the prop is anyone’s guess. But she emerged unscathed. I’ll bet she doesn’t wear heels around the locks again though!
  24. My wife is an attractive lady, and while older now, at the time she always wore high heels and was 30 years old. She however, has a heart condition. Just a heart murmur, but pregnant with our last child, they were concerned the extra strain of the baby would put both at risk, so she was sent to a cardiologist for examination. So she has her short skirt and over-the-knee boots on, and she has to take them off. I am sitting in a chair overlooking her, but behind her is this older doctor who gets mostly older people in his office and she is unzippering her long boots and wearing a pretty short skirt since it was early and not really showing even a baby bump yet. and oh the smile that was on his face! He definitely liked her struggling to pull off her boots!
  25. I just found out yesterday we once had a canal system close to where I live. It was not very long, only 38 miles with 27 locks, and only ran from 1773-1850, but was built and a working canal system. I was getting the wife’s car fixed and in the waiting room was a book on hidden local history so there it was. No doubt there is a novel lurking in that wee bit of information somewhere! 🙂
  26. We were not laughing at your expense as much as you allowed us to an example to use. But you can certainly blame me, and can only hope you accept my apology. I should have, and certainly could have; used myself for an example instead of your belly-piercing. A regretful oversight. Like me walking. I used to be a fair-weather walker for health, then one day I just decided I was going to be more committed. No matter the weather, whether a blizzard at -20 below zero (f) and blowing 20 mph, I was going walking, or 90 degrees (f) and not a bit of a breeze to cool me off. And if I didn’t, I would wear blue socks for a year. In that situation no one is going to die if I cave on my daily walking plan, nor anyone know if I wore blue socks the next day or not, but its just my way of holding myself more accountable. When I was younger, I lacked that. I am just trying to be better at follow-through. Accountability. Character. Integrity… whatever it is, this is just me trying to do what I say I will. And that really is the point here. NO ONE CARES. They don’t care if I wear or don’t wear blue socks. They don’t care if I walk everyday or not. They don’t even care if I wear polish on my toes, shave body hair or wear high heels… people are so busy with their own lives and problems at best they notice, but care… nope, they got their own lives to continue on with. It has taken me far too long to learn that, but I am now better off because of it.
  27. We used to have this circus come to our town, which was a tiny little place with less than 1000 people. But that circus knew how to glean money from a tiny town. It was probably more wrong than right, but this circus had the acts that entertained the kids, but did so announcing acts with a lot of innuendo that talked over the kids and made the parents laugh. Then they always had a aerial performer come out wearing five inch high heeled mules who wore a costume that was 90% see-thru so little was left to the imagination of the fathers. The mothers got to watch both kids and husband smile so yes: everyone was entertained. But I liked it because it was like an 1880 circus, sitting right up front where you could see things instead of 17 miles back like in a hockey arena, and where you paid more money to see less than what this small circus allowed you to see. A circus where the woman doing the aerial act sold tickets, did the dog act with her dogs, a pony act, while the announcer and two other guys did everything else that had to be done. A true 5 person circus. But sadly they were at a small town in New Hampshire one year, a microburst exploded and the wind took the big top and flipped it over and a woman was killed. No fault of the circus company at all, but they were sued and that ended the fun little circus that used to come to town. But I am glad my kids got to see a fun little circus during their childhoods.
  28. I have seen her on Instagram. It is very impressive and she does it extremely gracefully
  29. I’m sure the conversation helped, but she did notice you walking in those Hot Chicks and was interested enough to comment. You had to be doing something right. a walk of 170 metres in Hot Chicks is very impressive - about 170 metres further than I could go. It’s a distance I’d like to try in my 12cm boots though - although I doubt anybody watching me would be inspired to dig out their heels and start wearing them!
