While we don't have those same companies over here, I have had similar experiences. And it never fails to amaze me than when the second company calls up weeks later, and you tell them that you've long since given your business to their competitor, they are always so breezy about it - a though you'd called them to ask a favour and didn't need it after all. Nobody cares.

I recently had occasion to compare Home Depot and Lowes: we were looking to install a backup generator on our house and contacted both stores through their websites for a quote. Home Depot got back to me within an hour and got all the information they needed to generate the quote, we signed the contract, scheduled the installation for later that week, and the installation went without a hitch. Lowes finally contacted me about 5 weeks later...

Update: My achilles tendon seems to be just fine for the first time in a decade. My big toe joint is much less painful than before, and even my hands feel pretty good lately. Of course, that may be because it's summer, and it's been a hot one. We'll see if this lasts another six months.

My friends and I call it Home Despot. However, I can't say that I've had any bad experiences at Home Despot. I'd rather go to my locally owned lumber yard or hardware store, if I can. They don't mind my heels, either.

Out and about in York the other day. Despite our warm summer I was surprised by the number of heeled knee boots I saw. To be sure most wearing trainers but that there were anybody in boots was a surprise, and I saw a surprising number of women in block heeled knee boots - 3” heels. No stilettos though - although given York’s ancient streets I doubt stilettos were ever big there

That’s nice when you get positive feedback - and nice too when a sales assistant goes out of her way to be helpful. Definitely a boost for the day

I had another pleasant experience at Home Depot, just looking for a large rubber mat to fit under the sink. A delightful young woman went out of her way to approach me asking if I needed help finding something, which was a bit shocking in itself! After explaining what I was looking for, I thought I heard her say something about my boots, but almost under her breath. I thanked her for the percieved compliment, and she went on to say that she couldn't wait for the weather to cool down so she could wear her boots again.

I'm pretty sure I could hang, even on cobblestones, but I wouldn't really want to be around that many people by choice.

Mirose, I have not heard from Steve in months. I know that his wife died about 2 years ago and that he sold his hosiery business several years ago. As far as him wearing skorts, I don't remember him wearing one when we met up over the years, but I did wear skorts many times when we got together. Today was a good day for me as I found t-shirt dresses on sale in Walmart. They were reduced from $9.98 to $7.00. I bought several in colors. One black, burgundy, khaki, royal blue, white and orange. I wish they had more colors as I love wearing t-shirt dresses. They go just above my knee and are very comfy to wear this time of year. They also go great with heels too! Happy Heeling, bluejay

Wow, over a year has gone by already! The black True Religion mules have 270 miles on them now, making them my most durable shoes ever. I actually had to have new soles put on them. The brown ones are an adequate substitute for the black comfort-wise, but for whatever reason I don't wear them much. I've barely worn the orange ones at all. They just rarely seem to be at the top of my "what to wear" mood. It will be interesting to see what eventually makes the black pair fail. Number one reason for my high mileage shoes failing is a broken shank. These mules do not appear to have a shank, as I would guess the wood composite material they are made of is rigid enough to not need reinforcing. If I can keep from losing a sole or a heel without noticing it, I predict these sandals will wear out on the inside first. They are starting to show signs of that now. Even though it's embossed into the leather, you cannot read the brand name of the shoe on the footbed, or tell that it was ever there in the first place.

I am reasonably competent in 10cm heels, but I don’t think I’d care to run a race in them! Partly I’d be worried about damaging my heels! But as you say, an interesting discipline!

While I'm not really a fan of mules, I have to say: Well done! I really like the style and it seems you put a lot of effort into also making them wearable. Even though I think I still wouldn't be able to properly walk in them 😉

Wow, most of you are wearing rather high heels to the office. My highest ones are about 13 cm but they are wedges with a platform, so still a simple style, nothing too fancy. For heels without a platform I wear a maximum of 10 cm for the office. Anything higher really depends on the style if it is suitable for the office. Also a 10 cm heel is still comfortable enough for wearing the whole day.

If I remember correctly a similar event took place in Germany a long time ago. A high heel race sure is an interesting discipline 😄

Leviticus Boots are amazing and great to go out in.

Frankly, I think they are ugly, particularly if worn by a girl of relatively modest build. Almost orthopaedic in style. I really can't see the appeal.

HA! I got a private message on social media after church today saying, "I didn't see you after church to beg for your approval on my improved shoe choice." Accompanying this was a photo of her feet in red sandals with wedge heels. Pretty cute overall! I feel a little bit funny about sharing it here, so I'll just share what I wore. I was kind of ambitious this week, with Michael Kors almost vintage sandals (circa 2012) with 5 1/2" heels, 1" platform.

The stories I seem to remember predate the skorts. And they involved Steve. How is Steve these days? Haven't heard from him in an age! Here is what I wore to church today. Ankle breakers, is what my friend called them.
