JeffB
Anyway, I headed out heeling. My outfit today was on the daring side - yellow sweater, denim trousers from Lane Bryant with a very wide leg, a sports coat (the pants have no pockets) and deep red Bandolino "Riana" platform peep toe pumps with a 4 1/2" heel. Based on my last outing in red pumps, I decided to add the peep toe aspect to it. I love to puch he envelope. Wow! What a terrific outing! Killer shoes too! I've never been much of a fan of peep toes, but those pumps looked great! You ARE quite the daring fellow! More power to you, my friend! I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
HappyFeat
As promised, here are the pictures from my purchases from the last outing I posted. They are of me in my new Nine West "tornado" knee boots with the gauchos I bought at Lane Bryant. The second is the Nine West "Goroo" ruby red ankle boots with the black crop pants. The third picture is of my straight leg jeans I ordered online with the knee boots tucked inside. Sorry about the picture quality, but I am having a hard time with my digital camera for some reason this week. Style is built from the ground up! HappyFeat
This past Wednesday and Thursday, I decided to try an experiment- I would go to the same places at about the same times wearing slightly different outfits. The first was quite conservative - a light beige Banana Republic sweater, black denim trousers, and square toe, block heel boots with a square toe. I went to a restaurant/coffee shop with some work that I had to do, ordered and set in a rather crowded section. I opened my computer, pulled out my papers and worked while I ate. The only people who noticed were a few adolescent girls at the table next to me. They did make an effort to be coy, but they did each take a look and being adolescent girls, giggled quite a bit. But their interest in me waned after a few moments. After completing my work, I went to the book store and browsed the magazines. I grabbed a copy of "The New Yorker" and thumbed through it while setting in a chair next to the stacks. Again, nobody seemed to notice except one of the female clerks, who did a slight double take and went on with her business. I did buy the magazine- I always feel guilty if I read a magazine in the store and don't buy it. Kind of like intellectual shop lifting, I suppose. On my way home, I stopped by a corner store to get some ice and chatted with the clerk for a few minutes. I actually go in this store a lot in heels, but she never says a thing. She had a very bad cold the last couple of weeks and is looking and feeling better and we chatted about the convalescence. Then I headed home. After being out in some pretty visible shoes recently, Wednesday was as quite as I suspected. Thursday I took it to the other extreme. I wore a red J. Crew sweater, trouser jeans, and red ankle boots with a 4 inch stiletto heel. I figured this was going to be an interesting evening. I went back to the same place to eat. I ate, worked, and quietly observed. Many of the same people were working as the previous night, but of course the people in the store were different. As soon as I walked in I started getting attention. The person who took my order was the same person as the previous night, but the whole time I was ordering she kept glancing at my feet. After I sat down, nearly everybody working made a int to walk by an coyily look at my boots. The people setting around me mostly made a quick glance as if they were passing a secret from person to person around their respective tables. When I left, the girl who took my order made a point to say good night, with a large grin on her face. At the book store, the same people were working as well though the customers were different. I picked out another magazine (The Atlantic Monthly, this time) and started reading. The clerk who saw me the previous night paused to ask if I needed any help and I gave her my stock answer when people ask- "Thank you, but I am beyond help." She laughed ad told me that if I changed my mind to let her know - and that I have great doots! I winked and thanked her. Other customers glanced here and there but nothing remarkable. When I went to pay, several people working walked past me and glanced at my boots - obviously the word had spread. At the corner store, I went in picked up some odds and ends for the next day and chatted with the clerk once again. However, tonight was a bot different. A group of about 5 rowdy post-adolescents came in (4 guys and 1 girl) and got in line behind me. They noticed my boots at once and I could hear the girl laughing. They obviously didn't approve of my taste in footwear. When I went out to get in the car, one of the guys who had missed seeing me followed me out and stopped and stared at me. I turned, gave him a good view and got in my car and left. These "thugs" may didn't bother me- on the contrary I got a kick out of their behavior. So, the results of my experiment were much that I expected. However, I did notice that even though I was wearing heels, you almost have to wear "in your face", obvious shoes for people to take a second look. Ironically, only one person that I interacted with, for sure that is, noticed that I was wearing heels both nights. Experiment or not, it was very nice to go out and just enjoy wearing heels as part of my everyday activities. Style is built from the ground up! Dawn HH
Happyfeat:-) I would be honored, thats HONORED, to meet you sometime at the Science Center and anywhere else that would be convenient for the both of us. There has been a slight change in our opening schedule. It was to be Friday, November 28th, but the powers-to-be has declared that the Center will be closed that day and reopen Saturday 29th. Keep in mind that this is the start of our extremely busy Holiday season that will extend into January before it lets up. So I will try to give you a lot of information while informing the other patrons also as I'm a program presenter to the public. I think your outfits look very good and show that a lot of thought has been put into them. Keep up the good work, my friend. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever! HappyFeat
I am insanely envious of you in those boots, especially the "Tornado" boots which are flat out sensational! More power to you, my friend! The "Tornado" boots are a bit of a departure for me. I have only owned one pair of knee boots before, but when I tried these on, it was like they were made for my leg. And Jeff, with legs lke yours, it would be a shame to cover them with high boots too often. Do you remember where you got these? Are they men's or woman's? They look extremely passable as men's boots if the are woman's. They are women's boots and I bought them on eBay a couple of summers ago. I bought them in a single lot with a tan pair exactly like them. They are Nine West "Rhythm" in a size 11. Like you said, I think they could pass for guys boots under any condition. In fact, don't wear tem too often, because they seem a bit too passable. But when I bought them, I was looking for as conservative a shoe with the a fairly high heels as I could find. The tan ones are not quite as inconspicious however. Happyfeat, I love the gauchos on you! I too have tried them on (my gf loves wearing them herself) and they look quite good on me. But I haven't wore them out yet. I love gauchos myself, but thought they had gone out of style. I had one other pair a couple of years ago and did wear them out once, but they were cheap and did not launder very well. When I bought the boots in the picture, I wanted something to wear with them. I was thinking crop pants, but when the manager at Lane Bryant said they had gauhos, I knew that's what I was going to get. And yes, I will wear them out. And you should too (if you want, of course). Happyfeat:-) I would be honored, thats HONORED, to meet you sometime at the Science Center and anywhere else that would be convenient for the both of us. Well, I will be in touch. I don't know if there are other members from the Pittsburgh area, but we could even discuss a greater Pittsburgh heel meet! And for me, the honor would be qual on my end. HappyFeat
The NE Ohio Heel Meet was an awesome experience! Thanks got to Johnieheel and Ruthheel for the idea and organization of the event. The turn out was good, though it would have been nice for Ruth if another female or two would have joined us, since she had to put up with a group of all guys. But it since it was a really cool group of guys we had a pretty great time. I wore a camel hair jacket, a deep gold Polo silk sweater, wide leg trouser jeans in an average length (to show off my heels), cream colored nylons, and brown Nine West "Gaffer" pumps with about a 4 inch stiletto heel. It was my intention to make a statement without going over the top. And since it was the first time going out with a group that included other men wearing heels, I wanted to not worry too much about how much attention I drew. I arrived at the restaurant a bit late. It was great having small talk and getting to know everybody beyond our screen names. The waitress was very gracious and took time to ask us questions and talk to us. It was a relaxing and enjoyable experience to start the meet. Outside the restaurant we posed for pictures. We were posing with out legs crossed, showing off our shoes, when a family walked by. The mom, who was wearing a very nice pair of red leather boots, turned the head of her young son as they walked by. We all got a kick out of her reaction. After eating we went to DSW and browsed for a bit. The shopping area where we met was quite busy and every store we went into was packed. As a group we browsed the aisles of shoes and boots for a while before breaking up a little. I headed to the clearance rack where I found a pair of Nine West oxfords to try on. I loved them, so of course I bough them. I ran into John trying on some shoes talking to some other customers, explaining who we were, why we do what we do, etc. They were amazed and qite supportive. John is a first rate ambassador for our cause! Of course I forgot my credit card and had to write a check, and the group was kind enough to wait while my check was approved, but once the process ended we moved on to Aldo. Again, the store was packed but the clerks had met John before, so they were quite helpful. I tried on about 5 pair of shoes and bought a great pair of black and white patent oxfords that were quite reminiscent of the shoes that Ruth was wearing. I wound up buying those as well. While trying on shoes, I made comments to other customers, including two women who were shopping together. One was trying on a pair of black, mid heel pumps with straps- I told her they were a must have because they were both stylish and sexy. The other was trying on a pair of killer red hidden platforms with a very high stiletto. I told her that she needed someplace to wear them. When she replied that she didn't, I let it go. Usually I would say something cute to flirt a bit more, but didn't this time. After Aldo, we went to the food court for dessert and got to know each other a bit better. Did a bit more shopping and Radiodave and I each had to leave for the day. It was a truly wonderful afternoon in North Canton. Links to John's pictures of the day can be found here: http://www.hhplace.org/discuss/real_life_meetings/10329-october_ne_ohio-14.html#post182676 On the way home, I stopped by a lake and took pictures of my outfit and shoes. heelma
As opposed to any other women? I see your point and do my best to be aware of "being sold," and don't expect to have a high rate of success; however, where do you get if you don't try? Also, they are NOT always friendly and I have plenty of experience reading levels of friendliness. Maybe we go out, maybe we don't. But in the end you get nowhere if you don't try. I guess it just helps me get through the day to think that there may be a genuine person out there who simply isn't seeing everybody as a mark. Also, I HAVE been turned down more times than I care to admit, so I don't think people play nice just to get a sale. In fact, my brother once dated an exotic dancer for two years, and they are usually flirtatious with their customers as a rule. I appreciate your advice, and agree with it on the surface, but I guess my intention is to just see how it goes. I am well past being disappointed if a date never happens. HappyFeat
Hey ... what happened now with this lady? Do you feel like giving us an update? I am laying low for the moment. I have gone out with a coworker a couple of times in the last week, so most of my social time has been eaten up. But I haven't forgotten... You are doing what I want to do. I've been slightly involved; I wore pumps when I took a computer in for repair and picked it up. Was a bit wobbly, but I succeded. Today I'm playing chickrn in my Dansko clogs, When you are in the mood to do something crazy, or at least out of the ordinary, just do it! The shoes I wear is dependent on how I feel. I haven't been able to get out this week until tonight and may not get the chance again for a few days and really wasn't in the mood for being too cutting edge. The world will just have to settle for my black platform oxfords. Style is built from the ground up!

HappyFeat
Happyfeat:-) We can wait a few days to read of your adventures. Inquiring readers would like to know. Cheers--- Dawn HH Ask and ye shall receive.... I have been pretty busy the last few days and haven't really had much of an opportunity to go out. But I have been dying to wear the Nine West "Kinfolk" oxfords that I bought in Canton during the Heel Meet. They are oxfords, with a about a 3/4" platform and a 3 3/4" heel that are pretty tame by my recent standards. I have enjoyed my recent outings in more over the top shoes, but really was not in much of a mood to attract too much attention tonight. I combined my shoes with Lane Bryant flare leg jeans, a much turtle neck, and a green wool Banana Republic sweater and gray tights. I was going to wear average length jeans to show off my shoes a bit more, but decided to go with longer length jeans at the last moment. The longer jeans covered the heels and made them a bit less obvious. As I said my mood tonight was to be a bit less conspicuous than my other recent outings. Since it is finally chilly enough for my leather coat, I decided to pull it out as well. I stopped by a convenience store after leaving my house. This was the same store that I was in in my red boots that caused such a hubbub last week. The clerk who was working was the same one who worked that night. Immediatly on apporaching the counter she looked down at my shoes. She smiled in that way that was tough to tell if it was friendly or condescending, but she was poite and a bit flirty as always. I had a lot of paper work to do, so I thought I would get something to eat and do my work at the restaurant/coffee shop I have been frequenting while heeling. However, on my way I stopped at the "Shoe department," a self serve shoe store near the restaurant. I usually just browser, seldom finding anything I like at this store, but since I was wearing tight I thought I would at least see what they had and try on some shoes. The only thing I found interesting was a pair of brown Farnco Sarto knee boots with a tiny stiletto heel and a pair of navy patent Moda Spana peep toe pumps. They both fit great and I may buy them next week, if they are still there, though I don't need another pair of peep toe shoes, even if they are only $10. Feeling uninspired, I went to eat. The resteraunt was dead, just me and a girl working on her computer. I was a bit irritetd becuase she had the good table but found a good place to work anyway. I am sure that the mther and daughter behind me in lne saw my shoes but they really didn't react too suprised, except for a slight smile from both. I got my order, went to work and ate. The young woman working at "my" table was seated next to the drink refills and the restroom. I made a couple of trip by her, but hse paid little attention. However right behind her table, the floor switched from carpet to hard tile. When I walked on the tile, my shoes made the signature click, click of heels. We made eye contact, but nothing more than that. After eating and finishing the work I had brought with me, I packed up to leave. I refilled my drink and packed up. Suprised, the girl working at her comuputer looked up and smiled at me. I smiled back and she breifly looked away but right back at me. Again, I really wasn't in a mood to flirt and may have missed a golden oportunity, but as I was heading out I turned, made eye contact again and winked. She smiled a bit broader and went back t work. Before heading home, I decided to browse the bookstore. I grabbed a book and took a seat to flip through it. A crossed my leg exposing my shoes for the world to see. A male clerk was stocking sheves and I had to stand up to let him through. He didn't make any sign that he noticed, but there is no way he could have not. After taking my seat again, an attarctive women about 50 walked by. She looked at me with a bit of shock, smiled and spoke. I said hello and she went on her way. I browsed for another 45 minutes or so without any other interaction. On my way out I held the door for a younf woman in a peasant skirt and well worn but cute ballet flats. She said she wasn't leaving yet and turned to talk to the woman at the register. When I walked out of the store, both women were watching me leave and watched me get in my car. I left my foot dangle for a second so they could get a good look at my shoes. Tonight was a relaxing and productive evening and it was great to be out in heels! Style is built from the ground up! Puffer
You are following the SAS in as much as their motto is "Qui audet adipiscitur" or "Who Dares, Wins" Simon. It's good to see a little classical enlightenment, Simon! Maybe male heel wearers should also consider adopting the motto of the Royal Engineers, namely 'Ubique' (= everywhere). HappyFeat
Do you wear heels when meeting with your coworker as well? Just curious... do people at your work know about it, and if so, what do they say? No, I am sorry to say that I keep my work life and personal life separate. Actually, a few of my students have seen me out and about and they all think its pretty cool, and I have worn a few pair of women's flat loafers to work, but I do try to keep my professional life and personal life compartmentalized. This goes beyond wearing heels for me- I just have always thought that work is work and life is life and they should mix as little as possible. Besides I seriously doubt that I could take being on my feet for tretches that exceed 6 hours at a time wearing heels..... Style is built from the ground up! HappyFeat
I got to do a small amount of heeling this weekend, but nothing as exciting as the last few times out. That's a tall order considering that last weekend was the NE Ohio Heel meet and all, but it was still nice to get out. Friday, I went out to lunch and did a little shopping. I didn't want my friend at Nine West to forget about me. I wore my black leather jacket, light blue silk pullover, boot cut jeans, black tights and black Nine West loafers with a 3 inch block heel. I had a fairly relaxed lunch, mainly reading while I ate. However, the one thing that I notice when I wear these shoes is that a very high proportion of people notice them. They have a square toe and look fairly conservative in comparison to the rest of my shoes I have worn recently, but they do attract a lot of attention. The most notable reaction that I got was on leaving the restaurant. A couple was eating near the window, the woman toard the window and her partner's back to it. The woman was staring at me smiling, so I winked at her. She smiled a bit bigger. Anticipating what came next, I turned back a few seconds later and her partner was turned square to the window looking at my shoes! I paused for a second, waved to them and headed for my car. At Nine West, I didn't get to talk with my friend very long because the store was quite crowded. None of the new shoes that she liked for me came in an 11, though she did double check to make sure. I tried on a pair of boots and a couple of pairs of pumps, but nothing struck my fancy. I did by two three packs of knee highs (buy one get one) and headed out. I browsed the mall a bit more, but really wasn't in the mood for too much shopping. I called it a day and went home. Sunday morning was quite nice and since I got up a bit early, I thought I would go buy a paper, get a danish and relax before getting into the rest of my Sunday routine. The only thing that could make it better was to go in heels. Again, I went conservative; yellow sweater, black wide legged trousers, black knee highs with pinstripe seems, and black patent Bandolino "MacDougal" loafers with a 2 3/8" block heel. Though they are on the conservative side, the patent leather does lend to some flash. I went to my favorite coffee shop/ bakery, got a danish, a mug of cocao, and a paper. I sat at a table in the corner and read. The only interaction I had was with a young woman who worked there who kept coming into my section. I am sure she noticed my shoes and was a bit on the flirty, curious side. She was wearing a wedding set and usually a flirty woman with a wedding set is going out of her way to check out my shoes. At least that is my past experience. I chatted with her, but she made no mention. I am sure I will see her again. After an hour or so of reading, flirting, and relaxing, I went to the book store. A very cute girl (maybe 20) in a little flirty dress and sneaker flats asked me if I needed any help several times in the hour or so I was there. Again, I know she was curious about my shoes, but said nothing. It is my practice to wait until I get a specific question or comment before responding. Otherwise, I just let them go. I guess if I am wearing heels, for me they are just my normal shoes. Well those were my short, but fun recent outings. Life is getting pretty busy at the moment so I don't get out as much as I would like. More or less, when I get a chance to have some time to myself anymore I do it in heels. I have posted pictures of my outfits. I do need to get a new camera, so forgive their quality. Style is built from the ground up!
