  1. Update:

@Mickey S - Hope everything goes well in wearing your nice ankle boots outside. Please do get back to us as we would all like to know how the experience was for you.

The boots made some noise but a lot less than expected. The girl behind the security-desk was busy answering the phone and didn't bat an eyelid although the lobby area was calm at that time and the shoes made their statement. I was even a bit disappointed that she didn't give a damn, not even a brief look. -- I must say that the ladies at the reception always look very good and should be experts because some of them do wear high heels 5" tall once in a while - one of them does that on a regular base. I haven't seen this particular gal wearing anything below 4.5" or so. At least it looks like that from remote. So I was really wondering why the lady behind the desk didn't care. Okay, I'll blame it on the phone... ;o) -- On the other hand, I'd say that means that I/one definately overemphasize/s that all the people you encounter first check on your footwear. It's only in your mind, I'd say. -- I even pushed it a bit further yesterday. When the aerobic class was finished in the evening I was getting into a conversation with the trainer (also a very attractive woman). Finally the thing came to shoes. I told her about my crush for high heels and that I wear such things regularily. She couldn't almost believe it so I went changing and waited for her outside the gym till she came out and I showed her my 'secret'. She was still like as if that wouldn't gonna happen that I wear high heels ... just like that. At the end she thought that it would be cool, wasn't distracted at all and left with a big grin on her face when we parted.

So I consider this positive experience.

  2. Hi!

@Shafted: Damn interesting thread you started!!! And it's very impressive what particular reactions you got on your footwear. The only thing I dare to wear currently are these:

    Posted Image

But only together with a long flared jeans that would cover most of the shoe. However, I must say that your stories from this thread gave my courage a huge boost. So, will see if I'm wearing my ankles boots tonite on the way out of the company: We have a marble floor in the lobby area causing the shoes to be quite noisy. And there's also always someone from Security behind the desk watching who's coming and leaving. Gonna be interesting...

  3. Folks, sorry for not getting back to you earlier. The server wasn't reachable until a few minutes ago. According to my ruler the heels measure a little over 3" (8cm). To me they feel like flats but nevertheless they look damn good! The salesgirl yesterday also adviced me what to do when wearing them outside in case of rainy weather. Obviously she was kinda serious about me going for wearing these boots in public. The heels make some noise, however, but there are also men's shoes as well which have the usual (boring! :o() masculin look but sound alike. So, this shouldn't be a problem from this point of view. @high heel lover: Unfortunately I don't know whether or not such kind of boots are available in Belgium. How far are you away from the German border? Try one of the Deichmann-shops in nearest big German city. They should still have'em since this is a (brand-?) new model. CU! -Mike

  4. Micha,

unfortunately, size EU42 ist the largest they offer (Graceland/Deichmann). But since I'm a EU43 myself you should definately give them a try because they have a nice fit - even for a USw12. They are available like shown and in black leather.

I was talking to the sales girl for a while when I tried on those boots in the shop. To her I was the first and only man who ever did try women's shoes in public / in the shop. But she didn't have no problems at all with me going for women's shoes. I said 'Why women's shoes? Isn't that rather just shoes?' - 'Absolutely!', she replied. And she agreed furthermore that the contemporary men's footwear is kinda boring for the time being. I walked a bit around the shop in these boots and the salesgirl pointed out that although it looks somehow unusual (since there aren't many men who try this) these shoes do look good (on me). My confidence went up quite a bit. So I might give them a try...

Hopefully this helps some of the shy guys to come out of their closets!

  5. Hi micha!

I'm crazy about pointy stiletto boots but I'm searching since monthes for vintage cowgirl boots with a classical rounded toe box and moderate stacked heels in my size. Almost impossible ...

Try 6inchheelsforever/boots. In that boots-section they have something that is called like "CBTHB - Genuine Leather" (use your browser to find/locate that string). It's almost all the way down at the bottom on that page. Could be something you might like.

  6. Hi! I'm kinda glad that someone brought up this. What exactly? Read on... This one could easily make it for a separate thread but to point out what had me writing this - and for reference - I decided to put that here. Some posts ago the mustache of big lady was the key point for denying her. And that's my problem: Wouldn't probably a man wearing high heels appear to have the same effect on a woman as a woman having a mustache to a man? Imagine, you (the man) insist on wearing high heels to bed for some action but your S/O doesn't (actually) like it and reflects that by doing something alike, meaning, wearing thick socks, a white rippled-cotton slip and a false mustache just to show how you come across to her in your outfit? -- Hopefully I got across what I wanted to say... That's probably my 'mental barrier' for not wearing heels in public that obvious. What do you think? CU! -Mike

  7. Good pictures, thighhighs!

Regarding the apparent shoe size: As said, I wouldn't mind. At least I've never thought about that so it obviously didn't look odd to me. I've been wearing like 5" platform loafers for the past 5 years on a regular base and although the effective heel height is not that challenging it 'shortens' the feet by some degree. But it doesn't appear to look 'suspicious'. Only one female coworker discovered my heel-weraing once: She left the company with me that day and was a few steps behind. She only noticed by observing my walking-style. She said that I would look like if I was on high heels and told me why she came to that conclusion. I showed her the 'whole truth' and she didn't have a problem with that. She found it quite amusing but not ridiculous and was just astonished that a man would voluntarily use those shoes. In her mind high heels are sort of impractical but she occasionally wears them to do her boy-friend a favor, she said.

  8. ... but from the visible length of your shoes, it looks as you have shoesize 35.

Would have been perfectly okay with me. Although I'm 5'10" and 'only' a US women 12 I don't mind having my feet look 6 sizes smaller. Yet on the contrary: Even if a girl had size - speaking in european terms - 37 and wore heels being 5.5 inches tall together with a nice pair of trousers that reaches down to the ground now pretending a size 34 ;o) pushes my button. Meaning, because you can't actually determine the real height of the heels makes you quite phantasize...

  9. Perhaps the eaziest way is to first quit thinking of footwear as gender specific ... The same thing applies on-line.

Basically you're right, but: In eBay, for example, there are certain categories as one may know already. Hence, offers go where folks find them to be placed most appropriate to be sold for quite some money. A lot of people do query by categories not taking the effort of specifying a particular search. So in order to get quite a choice you got to stick to the rules although some might not like it.

  10. Regarding the

    ... Rick Owens show. ...

First I must say I'm kinda happy to see men wearing high heels 'officially' at a fashion show nowadays. Seems the right way to me althought I didn't like the boots they wear. Could have been more elegant (the girl in the last picture on the right looks good; wouldn't be so if she wore boots like the guy in the middle) like a nice pair of blade heel boots, ankle- or knee-high in some darker colors w/o or just a little platform. But that's personal taste...

  11. Last Friday I decided to go to a local shoe store to check for some styles they might have. Since sometimes a (US ladies) size 10 fits me I wanted to see if they got something new that would be worth bying. I tried some of the pointy-toe-5"-stilettos but found they all were at least a little too small. So I went for the clerk to check if they got some of the styles in my native size, was wearing a pair of the shoes of choice already and lifted my trousers' legs a bit (I wore those long flared jeans) to show what shoe style I refer to. She, the clerk, a woman in her 40ies, said that they have them available only up to size 10. She also pointed me out to some other styles which were similar but might be a bit larger than the size they are actually specified for. Bad luck, didn't find any appropriate in my size though but was having a great time... CU! -Mike
