  1. Hi all,

I've been reliably informed that New Look have shoes in larger sizes (i.e. over a UK 8, and in wider fittings), but I haven't yet had the chance to go in and see for myself. Have any of you UK chaps been in checked it out?

And I've seen some very nice looking shoes and boots on the Matalan website, which is rudimentary to say the least; they don't have size ranges on at all. Yes I know Matalan is very cheap, downmarket and a bit chavvy, and most of their stuff is probably make under appalling conditions somewhere, but it is cheap......

I can confirm New Look are now selling womens shoes in size 9.

I saw a display in one of their stores recently (I think it was Milton Keynes) but I didn't take a close look at what was on offer in that range as a size 7 or 8 usually does me ok.

My last purchase was a pair of size 8 suede platform ankle boots from Matalan. I didn't notice if they do anything larger though.

I was pretty impressed regarding their range TBH. Some nice looking styles in there so will definately be heading back come the January Sales.

  2. I'm down to 9 pairs of boots, having recently ebay-ed off some boots & stiletto shoes that I decided I no longer wanted/needed. They are- Kneeboots: New Look x 1; Carvela x 1; Pleaser x 1; Stead & Simpson x 1; Barratts x 1 Ankle boots: New Look x 2; Matalan x 1; cheapo market stall x 1 All of them have approx. 4" high heels (Pleasers a bit higher probably). My favorites? The Carvela's, which are absolutely divine darling, if a bit too tight on me. How many men's shoes do I own? er... 3 pairs, two of which are trainers.

  3. Hello, good evening & welcome... Wow. Gorgeous boots. So how much did you pay for those beauties? Listed price is about £130. That's not bad for your first ever high-heel purchase! I think you should get your money's worth by posting some pics.

  4. Perhaps one of the organizers should give a "head's up" to the local (U.K.) newspapers?

    Nay, Nay and thrice Nay!

I don't fancy seeing my face in the Daily Scum under a pun-tastic banner headline such as "Dude Looks like a Lady" or whatever.

Spreading awareness is one thing, opening ourselves and our high-heeling / freestyling community(?) up to public ridicule is another.

  5. New Look is my current fave shoe shop. Of course, that probably owes as much to the level of my spending power as much as to their range. Can't wait to do a blitz in their new year sales though. Their size 7 boots usually fit me ok. Just a tad too tight. Their size 7 shoes however are usually way tighter though - i usually need an industrial vice to pull those on. Also, I don't like their new shoe display system much - they're using horrible neon yellow/green plastic 'shoe shelves'. What taste-lacking 'interior design expert' decided to go with that?

  6. With Fog there to draw the heat I'm surprised you didn't do heels TBH! LOL

you're right. it would have been far easier for me to try, buy and wear if Fog had been with us from the outset. He didn't catch up with us until mid afternoon though, by which time i'd missed the opportunity to buy some boots in New Look (about the only shop in Bluewater where my spending budget would have been effective!)

  7. Another successful and highly enjoyable heelmeet in my view. I disappointed myself by failing to try or buy any shoes/boots all day (apart from the ones loaned to me by Firefox when we got to the Riverside Tavern - cheers pal). There was lots of browsing and watching Tara trying stuff on but that was it. So, nil points to me for wearing heels in public this time - Riverside, being a GLBT venue, didn't count! Yes, I'm a yellow-bellied chicken and I know it. It actually seemed fairly quiet in the shopping centre (visitor-wise). Numbers picked up through the day but it was still far from being busy when we left at about 4:30. The Bluewater malls are all wide and open and have hard-tiled floors. I realised straight away that us heelers would stand out a mile in there. There's also the omnipresent CCTV cameras and wandering security men keeping an eye on you so this is definately not the ideal heel-wearing venue for shy and retiring types (like myself!). That said, it has a great selection of shoe-selling outlets and so is probably an excellent place to go to during the sales when bigger crowds would also help the nervous heeler to 'disappear' a little more. 8)

  8. I liked those black shoes. It's a stupid programme though. I rarely find it amusing. Too much canned laughter. I always thought it was a European programme (made in Netherlands or Belgium or some such). Hence the total absence of audible dialogue in any of the clips.
