  1. Hi, Yeah, Reading would be a possible for me for a weekend event. I won't be free for it for 6 weeks or so, though. If you can PM me as well, I'll see what I can do as i am already suffering withdrawal symptoms since the last HeelMeet! Oxford would also be good for me (if not better!).

  2. Actually, I'm not quite there yet. I've done a few furtive excursions in quiet supermarket car parks, some quick walks to postboxes, etc. This is also under cover of darkness. ;) I can't quite imagine that I'll ever reach the necessary level of confidence (and high-heel wearing competence) to 'go for it' in a big way. My dream (fantasy?) is to Street-heel around a big tile-floor shopping complex - Bluewater, the Birmingham Bull Ring (heck even Milton bloody Keynes shopping centre would do!) - trying and buying in all the shoe stores. To be honest, I believe my problem is that I am going for too high a heel at the moment (3"+). I'm sure I could street-heel quite confidently in a lower-height heel but, as that's not where my interest lies, I haven't given it a try. I will aim to put that right sometime soon and will report back on my 'progress' as soon as the deed is done. Wish me luck!

  3. I have shopped for boots plenty of times now but I hadn't done any trying on in the shop before yesterday (the Heel Meet). By the end of that day though, I had slipped into quite a few, including:- + Calvera 'Wendy' knee boots in House of Fraser (absolutely stunning but a tad pricey at £140!) :o + spike-heeled ankle boots in John Lewis (also nice but £95!) + Ankle boots & stilettos in Shoe Express + some fetish platform boots & stripper heels in an indian-owned place (they didn't have the one's I really wanted to try in my size though - the swines). I can't wait to do it again. Next time I will be on my own though rather than with heel meet confederates! That's gonna make it soooooo much harder. I am determined to do it though. Why the hell not! I am (potentially) a paying customer after all! ;)

  4. Gosh, Doc - what big feet you (UK14) and your daughter (UK12) have! And surely it must be rare for an adult's feet to get bigger so you can no longer get into 12s?

The good Dr. is of course refering to clothing sizes (womans 12/14), not shoe sizes.

  5. But why do you have to hide your heels? If you know you're not gay does it matter what anyone else thinks? People will judge you on you, everything about you, your clothes -stylish or not, your confidence or your lack of it and the way you present yourself.

You posit a convincing argument monsieur but, personally speaking, I can't see all that many up-sides to 'coming out'.

I don't think it's something that I could easily explain or rationalise (for want of better words) to my kiddies or to my mother-in-law for instance.

Unlike my heels, I will have to stay in the closet for a while longer yet.

  6. "All power to him" - I absolutely agree with that statement. Unfortunately, in the eyes of the man (& woman) in the street, this incident just helps to reinforce two age-old misconceptions:- - Gay men like to wear women's clothes - if you wear womens clothes, you are gay Speaking as a 'heterosexual heeler', I would love to one day see the end of that sort of knee-jerk stereotyping. And the sooner the better, as I am running out of places to hide my heels!

  7. Has anybody seen the recent coverage about the latest high-heel innovation - - - the "air-cushioned" stiletto?

I saw a feature about them on the BBC morning news earlier this week, including "footage" (arf arf) of a woman riding an exercise bike and teaching an aerobics class whilst wearing a pair of black 4" spike heels.

During the interview, there was a bonus when the newsreader (Jane Hill i think it was) showed us a glimpse of her 3" suede knee boots.

A trawl around the internet found only a few short articles about this new invention, best one probably being this one:-

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/femail/article.html?in_article_id=398505&in_page_id=1879&in_page_id=1879&expand=true

I actually like the looks of some of the shoes and would be happy to give them a road test one day. Maybe some air-cushioned boots will also be appearing at some point!?!

So what's the verdict on the HHMP forum?

  8. I often have that feeling. I actually think that i'm working my way towards the time when I say "sod 'em all" and spend an afternoon walking around in public in some 3 1/2" or 4" heels.

I must stress that it would not be in my home town! I'm not that brave.

What's stopping me most though is the thought that I can't walk well enough in them yet. I want to do it nonchalantly. I do not want to look like a kid in his (or her) mums shoes.

The time is coming though - - - i am sure of it.
