  1. What I'm wondering about. Did you leave the shoes out or has someone been snooping about in your room? If the latter, I'm asking because my parents never ever searched my room for anything, not even in my early teens. They never had a reason not to trust me so they didn't have to. And the only valid reason for doing something like that that I can think of if I would have gone off track really bad like serious drugs or something. The way I've been raised I'd consider it a lack of respect for you if they searched your room and an invasion of privacy.

    Don't know how you see this? I agree with most of the replies already posted. I would give it a little rest and then start the conversation. If it where me I would explain myself but also let them know how I feel about what happend and the comments that where made. Parents expect you to respect them, but in my opinion that should be mutual.

  2. It doesn't need to be like that. I have a bunch of different experiences. I've met my best friend through a Dutch metal band chat and she's exactly the same for real as she was online. And the 'fake' ones usually don't last in the long run. Just use common sense and you'll probably be fine. Can't imagine us Dutchies being such a different kind of people? :-)

  3. Thank you for the positive comments!

    Couldn't agree more. Having her with me gives me a lot of confidence. Especially because it doesn't matter to her at all, she's fine with almost everything as long as I'm relaxed and happy with it. She even wouldn't mind if I chose to wear hot pink pumps. ;)

    I don't think it would be smart to go out in my new sandals since I don't walk in those as good as heels that are a little lower. ;)

  4. I usually go to stores where they have their stock in the store itself and you can find and try them on by yourself. I have been to other stores but in general they are the fancier stores and are a lot more expensive or only carry the smaller sizes. Thus far I've only had good experiences. In general store personnel just leave me be (as they do to others) and only ask if I need help, and if it's not needed say they will be available if I do.

    Most sales associates act professional and helpful but there where some standouts over the years. One of my best experiences was in an Xtrastar store. I tried on a pair of boots I liked and went to the cash register to pay. The girl behind the counter told me they are currently having a sale and any second pair is for free so she adviced me to have another look around, so I did. After a minute or two she came over and started suggesting heels I could get. She had fun with it and together we found a second pair.

    Another time I was shopping in Germany at Deichmann. In Germany they always try to sell you insoles and shoepolish with the shoes. So one of the two girls behind the counter started her sales pitch with, these are probably for your 'misses' so.. fairly quickly I said no. Then she asked, they are for yourself? I told her yes, the both of them looked a little surprised. But she continued her salespitch right away like they always do. Wasn't interested so I paid, they wished my a god day and hoped I'd enjoy them and I was on my way.

    It has also happend they thought Inwas kidding. Just found a nice pair of heels at a New Look in the Netherlands. I went to the cash register to purchase them. The sales lady did her thing and then she asked in an "I'm joking" kinds way, shoes for the weekend? I replied "not just for the weekend" in a serious manner but she didn't believe me. :P made me and my friend grin.

    And the last one for now. I wanted to purchase two pairs of heels at a Dutch Deichmann (van Haren). Handed over the shoes and one of the ladies behind the counter asked, are you having a prom? Told her I wasn't and just like to wear heels. We had a little conversation about how she remembered me being there before and she thought it was cool I did my thing as I liked. The question probably was the best she could think of as a conversation starter.

  5. Not trying to offend anyone (each to his own ofcouse!) but with boots like those I think over is a better look with most outfits anyway. :smile: They would work over with a more goth-ish/fetish look in my opinion. So good call imho! :smile:

  6. Great story! I think it takes even more guts to wear boots like that than the heels I had on at my first outside experience. Did you have your jeans in or over the boots? :-)

  7. Thanks for the positive comments!

    @Pumped

    Thats an easy fix:

    #1: Even & Odd (Zalando), no model name

    #2: Iron Fist - Gold Digger Zombie

    #3: New Look, no model name

    #4: New Look, no model name

    #5: Graceland (Store: van Haren/Deichmann, I believe thats "Rack Room Shoes" and "Off Broadway Shoes" in the US), no model name.

    @Logjam

    Since English isn't my native language it took me a couple of guesses what you meant. But I believe you made a typo and meant legwear? If so, thats correct. My friend made me a sucker for pantyhose. I'm a big fan these days and wear a lot of hold-ups and ankle-high pantysocks. It makes shoes much more comfortable. I prefer hold-ups and socks because they are easier with everyday tasks than full pantyhose.

  8. I didn't buy any shoes for a while but went a little overboard the past weeks. :angel: I attached a selection of what I've gotten recently. My trousers are a little odd at the shoes in the picture of the t-straps and it's quite fuzzy. It's not so easy to take good pictures by yourself! :cheeky:

  9. @ HeeledSlides

    Thank you! Hope I'll have more experiences like this. Groeten terug! (Greetings back! :cheeky: good to see more fellow Dutchies here)

    @AZShoeNut

    Thank you! I'm very happy with my friend. She always has been very supportive. And thank you for the comment about the shoes. I like them both (otherwise I wouldn't have gotten them ;)) I hope I have more 'adventures' to report soon.

    I attached a picture of the shoes I bought during this trip. Got them at New Look and they kinda reminded me of YSL sandals. :-)

    They look like (look-a-likes) Dr. Martens boots to me, and those are unisex. (All shoes are unisex in my opinion these days but thats a different discussion ;) ).

    I don't know your mother, but maybe she doesn't realize that her remark affects you that much? Parents in general have a certain view of how sons should be. They don't realize they might want to be a little outside the box. Out of curiosity, may I ask how old you are? As Steve63130 suggested, you might want to let her in a little (or a lot). The most important thing is that you are honest to yourself in what you want and start from there.

    Possibly unrelated but still: When I was younger stuff like that could get met depressed quite easily as well. I had some sessions with a social worker and have been to a psychologist. And I must say that the social worker (more hands on) has helped me quite a lot. The psychologist was only asking questions and writing things down. And after session 8 he told me, you might be slightly autistic and no improvement might be a possability. I refused that conclusion and things have gotten better since then as well.

    At some point I also was so sick of feeling bad and a switch changed in my head. From that point forward things got a lot better. :-) Bottomline, never lose hope!

    @HEELS2U

    My best friend (who shops with me and lets me wear heels) wears shoes like that too! ;-) She's quite allright! (just kidding with mentioning this ofc).

  11. Hi MrPump. I live in the north (Groningen).

    I felt the same way but during and after it was nowhere as scary as I thought and I just enjoyed it. My friend told me I walked pertty good on them and I couldn't stop looking at myself in the shop windows to verify. ;)
