  1. Howdy HiH,

What a fantastic adventure. There is something extra awesome when a gal wants to try on your shoes, isn't there? Thanks for sharing.

I have plans to go heeling at the mall this weekend. Hope I have as good a time as you did.

I also like your new pumps and would totally wear them if they came in my size.

    Best,

    Larry

  2. This is probably an insane suggestion, but if you are trying to hide a pair of heels via your costume, then consider obtaining some cheap second hand heels, perhaps the wedges, and build some type of robot shoe around them. Go as a robot and nobody has to know that you are rocking a pair of heels.

  3. Hello SleekHeels,

No vanity trip seen by me.  I read each of the adventure posts by you, TBG, Shafted, JeffB, w6ish, etc as soon as I see a new post.  Like reading the columns from the back of a magazine first, my eyes go to the adventure tales first.  I did a lot of heeling for a while but my trips have been very scarce for the last year and change.  Until I am better able to get back out in heels more often I live thru the adventures that you guys have.

Perhaps, when I do start getting back out in heels more frequently again they will be worth writing about.

    Thank you for sharing!

    Best,

    Larry

  4. Ditto what w6ish said. I think that the outfit is perfect. If I can ever get my weight down to a weight that is close to yours then I'd wear something very close to what you have. Sure, slightly closer fitting jeans might be better however what you have is certainly great and I wouldn't wait for different jeans to go out.

Google "jeans and heels" and you'll turn up hundreds of outfits similar to yours.

  5. I like these. I might actually get a pair. " Besame " by Brian Atwood. I like the second pic of the Black/Charcoal ones the most. Theres something about the sculpted side thats really eye catching.

I like them too. Super tall, however. It would take me a little while to get smooth in them. Will you be able to have a smooth gait right away or will it take some time too, ILK?

  6. I really wish that I had been more open about it when I was younger. I now know that my mom would have supported me as a teenager. She has told me that she wishes that I hadn't kept it bottled up and so private.

I also found out later in life that my youth group and the leader would have supported. The leader even said something like, "You could have even worn them to our camps and would have been an even better example truly being who you are.

Not being able to "put the cat back in the box" makes this choice especially hard. I chose not too out of fear. I have wished for many years that I chose to be more open.

I wish you good luck with your decision process and clarity of mind to make the best choice.

  7. I find dsw to be hit or miss. One of my favorite times was I got a very uneasy male associate that seemed to have to wait on me. So I picked the most stiletto-y and crazy high heels ever. I think he was more freaked out than I was. Granted I wear size 9-10 depending on the brand but needless to say its rather fun to troll people in person. Or maybe I'm sadistic, one of the two either way. >.<

I've also gotten phone numbers and compliments from the female associates because they just said its fun to see guys that enjoy shoes. So, I had a point with this post I'm sure but yeah, the unexperienced employees can be hella fun to break in is I think the point. And as guys wearing heels, its your duty to do so.

    Saudade,

Yeah, in 12 I find it to be a lot more miss than hit.  They display a lot of great styles though so it can be fun (though also slightly depressing) to browse.

I do enjoy talking to the new sales person with a smiling, confident face acting like what I am doing is the most natural thing in the world.  Usually that gets me favorable results.  This gal was just so weirded out that she kind made me feel uncomfortable.  I suppose that the shoe was on the other foot at that point.

  8. It takes balls to do what we do!

Pat McMahon, in Phoenix, AZ, had a bit on his morning TV show after I participated in a "Heels for HEAL" fund raiser.  They showed a picture of me and Pat exclaimed nearly that when he said, "Man, that takes guts," referring to guys wearing heels for the fund raiser.

I certainly do not feel less masculine when I wear heels.  I just feel like I am getting out doing something that I dig.

I do get a little kick when I catching myself doing something that is a bit more feminine because of the heels whether that be how I carry myself or how I recover from a near stumble.

Interestingly I have received a few compliments that sound like, "I am not sure that you will take this as a compliment but you do really well in those heels."  I think that the person complimenting is worried about taking away from my masculinity.  Usually I respond saying that I most certainly do take it as a compliment.

On the subject of counseling if you get a good counselor it can be a good place to voice your stuff.  And as said above don't buy it if they say you gotta lose you heels.  All but one counselor that I have spoken with in the past suggested that I would likely be happier if spent more time celebrating my uniqueness as opposed to trying to push it away.

  9. Heelster, the pink sounds fun!  I have wanted an occasion to wear pink heels.  I guess I have to get the pink heels first and the pickings in size 12 have been un-amazing.

Regarding the couple posts about being in DSW in heels I had a surprisingly "so, so" experience in DSW that may have been better had I been wearing heels.  I started looking down the aisles with some nice stiletto pumps and some wedge sandals.  As expected I didn't find any boxes showing a size 12 and I was a little surprised that I found no size 11 shoes either.  I got a couple of uneasy looks while in the aisle though I thought I projected confidence.  Then I went back to the shelves in the back with clearance shoes.  This was a new store however I have seen a pair or two of 12 back there in other stores.  There weren't any.  Then a female clerk in her mid-twenties approached me kind of uncomfortably leaning her way in to check in on me.  She asked if she could help and yes, I am looking for heels in size 12.  She kind of hummed and said something like, "Yeah, you are probably not going to find too many size 12 heels anywhere.  That is just an unusually large size."  I thought, "Wow!"  It was a new store however I wouldn't expect a sales associate that under trained and unprepared for somebody asking about size 12 heels.  Had I been wearing a pair perhaps it could have been educational for her.

  10. I do think that what makes for great legs on a guy vs what makes great legs on a gal is different. In high school and during my twenties I did a lot of mountain bike riding. I had very muscular legs. At one point during my late teens my mom had four or five friends over the house. I walked through and one exclaimed, "Oh, he has great legs." All the other gals agreed. Since I was cycling I had a lot of muscle in my upper calf which tapered abruptly about 2/3 the way down toward my ankle to a more narrow shape. The ladies found that attractive. Now on women I ring a nice tone upper calf that tapers evenly all the way to the ankles to be more attractive.

    Just my $0.02.

  11. You would think when in heels you want to look gracefull . When I see them walking like they are on a mission of some kind to me it takes away the purpus of having heels on in the first place.

Though she was moving quickly she did not appear rushed in the slightest. She was in fact quite graceful. She looked like a woman who knew exactly what ahe wanted and was headed right to it with purpose. Her gait was purposeful and I was in awe as to how she could do it so well in heels.

At one of the last two Heels for HEAL events that I went to there was a younger gal wearing very tall heels very gracefully. I then became in awe of how well she moved in them and her pace was at ease. She displayed no ackwardness that can go with really tall heels. After the event I was walking fairly quickly to my car and I noticed her and her mom strolling out to the way back lot. I realized that they were probably slow enough to enjoy the sights and I realized that slowing down would allow me to both enjoy the sights and my heels more.
