  1. I spent some time last week shopping at several Payless Stores that have always had an extensive selection of 12/13's. I seems there is still a wide selection of 12's but the 13's have become very limited to flats and the black Karmen pumps. Unfortunately, the new selections seem to lack that "something" that catches my interest.

I agree. I went to two payless stores recently and found nada. There are some interesting styles online, however.

  2. I hope all your great shoes are moving with you!

    Steve

They most certainly are. After trimming the "fat" I have two xtra large Uhaul boxes full of my shoes. Funny, the Mrs. Has only one box of shoes.

My mother in law has joined us for the drive to help us unpack. I'm wondering if she will stumble upon anything.

  3. I too have done a lot of housework in heels. I credit the house work that I had done for being able to manage an 8 hour night out and about with little sitting while wearing a pair of Elle 5-inch single sole pumps.

In the Phoenix area I see a lot of heels. You will see several in downtown Tempe or Tempe Marketplace on a weekend evening. They will also be seen all over the place in downtown Phoenix during the work day. You won't see a lot at my church however we have a lot of Mormon churches around here and if you are driving by when a service gets out 90% or more of the women and teen girls will be sporting awesome, super tall heels. Half of them walk a half mile or so home too. I would definately say that the Phoenix area is stiil rocking great shoes.

  4. Those are some super tall wedges. Just curious as to where you got them and what size they are. As for the walk, it will come with practice and, as noted above, lengthier spaces in which to practice. At first it can take several steps to smooth out your gait.

  5. What I can say is that I always found that a so, so looking gal that I might not be otherwise interested in will almost always gain my interest if she is wearing a pair of shoes that I dig. Even more so if she is wearing a pair of shoes like ones that I own.

That being said, my wife has a penchant for the ugliest shoes on the rack. So I found love in a gal regardless of her awful taste in shoes. Her taste improved ever so slightly after we connected, however.

  6. Both. I have really reduced the amount of shoes that I will not wear out. I did, however, buy a pair of boots that have no business being warn without a short black skirt and some type of black stockings with a design on them. There is just no way to wear them with my masculine wardrobe. But I love them and wear them around the house.

  7. Howdy,

I can say that in most circumstances I agree that for a person to look good in platforms that they need to have a little meat on their bones.  Not too much and not too little.  I did, however, stumble upon a picture of Emma Roberts, who is quite skinny, rocking a pair of green suede platform pumps pretty well.  I think that her look, however casual, totally rocks.

  8. I love shoe shopping too.  I too have only once had somebody bring shoes to me to try on.  As hhboots says, the shoes at most of those places are too expensive for my budget.  Should my budget ever open up I think I would have to go do it.

  9. My path here, I believe, was either Jenny's page or PGTS (remember that and how it grew). I like this forum as it allows me to converse and meet with like minded people.

Same here, Jenny's or PGTS. Back when Laurie posted a lot on both sites. What was that, late '90? I wonder what happened to her.

  10. That was a pretty good video, as far as being entertaining and showing a lot of cool shoes. However, I object highly to these instructional videos which advise you to take short, mincing steps and walk in a straight line, or even worse, do the runway model crossover walk. I'm sorry, nobody actually walks this way in real life. I mean, where would you ever walk like that? In the grocery store? At the office? In the mall parking lot? With your spouse and kids at the amusement park? Where? I agree that your feet should be fairly close together for maximum grace, but walking in a straight line or crossover pattern is inefficient, and very silly artificial looking. I feel the same way about instructions to take very small steps. This makes it look like you don't know how to walk in heels. Also, some of us need to get from Point A to Point B while we're still young.

My personal goal is to be able to walk in very high heels as if they were no impediment at all to my locomotion, and that's also the way I like to see women walk in heels, as if it's absolutely effortless. I know this goal is logistically impractical--let's face it--4 or 5 inch heels are going to slow you down. So I guess my real goal is to keep up with or surpass the normal flow of traffic. That's not that hard to do in the good ol' USA. People walk pretty darn slowly in most situations.

If you're going to emulate a walk, you could do a lot worse than this:

To me, this is just about the ultimate walk. The run at the end is impressive, but is of less interest to me than the walk. She might go through some heel tips pretty quickly, but I bet she doesn't slow her Significant Other down any. B)

If you prefer something a little lighter and bouncier, I offer this:

Especially considering that she's an extremely petite lady, and wears a size 4 1/2 (US women's), she motivates right along.

I realize that it's not always necessary or desirable to walk so quickly, but it's just something I find quite attractive, much more so than any runway walk.

I hear you and agree. I like the entertainment value of the video and also dislike the strut. I too attempt to keep my walk as "normal" and smooth as possible.

  11. On my first visit the local store one had one pair in stock that was size 12.  I didn't really care for the style and didn't think to try them on to get a feel for the sizing.  On my second visit they didn't have any shoes in size 12.  Online they seem to have quite a few available in size 12 and I have seen their shoes show up on eBay in size 12.

It is funny because the wedges on eBay were "buy it now" priced at $75 but new in store or online they cost around $25.
