  1. Oh it can be done - - - - But why??

    Wow, I gotta google this!

Okay, I found a few but you have to extend the aft end of the car pretty significantly.  It kind of looks like a funny El Camino.  My late bus had pretty much the same engine as the 914.  I knew people who stuffed V6 into their busses and had to extend the aft of the bus ever so slightly and mount a butt ugly radiator on the front.

That being said, man I bet that 914 can move.

As to the OP and simply in my opinion I say keep and enjoy the Porsche.

  2. Wow, those look outstanding. If you do order, please report back on size / fit.

I've purchased a couple new pairs over the past week. First are the lace up booties from Hot Tomato. This brand can have criminally small sizing but I've had great luck as of late and these fit very nicely in my usual 13M. The laces are a little harsh on the tops of my feet so I may trade them out for something softer but other than that I can't complain. I've noticed these are all over eBay right now for $50 - $90, insane for the low / mid quality of this brand.

The other pair is Carla from RSVP in blue suede. I have a pair of these in black patent under the Type Z brand (I'm pretty sure they're brand names of the same group) that fit great so I knew I'd be good to go. These actually ended up being free. When the box arrived I noticed it had a Polaroid of the shoes taped to the outside of the shoebox (taken in a bathroom at that), were obviously worn and had a heel pad stuck in each. I e-mailed Zappos service to complain that I was shocked no one in their returns department could take a moment to look over said return before shipping them back out as new merchandise. The rep responded to me and said they would refund my full purchase and to go ahead and keep the shoes as an apology. Getting those stupid heel pads out took quite a bit of work and they left behind a bit of residue but it is working itself out. Also, hey, free is free. All I was looking for was an apology for the disappointment.

Some nice finds you have there.

  3. It's not that I am a huge fan of Payless or Torrid.  It is just that those are just about the only two stores that I can visit that typically have my size.  Unfortunately, right now, they don't have too many styles that suit my fancy for which I don't already have a similar pair.

  4. During my mall outing my first "off" experience of the day was the kid and his Dad taking my my picture while trying on shoes in a Torrid store. The last "off" experience was a carload of schmucks yelling, "What the f-bomb," in a violent tone. I'll take the picture taking over violent sounding words anyday.

Sorry that your outing took on an unpleasant tone. Wishing you better future outings.

  5. When my wife had a problem her planters fascia the podiatrist told to not wear any shoes with less than 1-1/2 inch heel and that ballet flats were very hard on feet. He pointed out that my sneakers likely had a good one inch rise from ball to heel built into the insole.

  6. Howdy,

I have always wondered what that would be like.  Haven't had the experience.

There are some people that I think could only help improve the experience so I wouldn't mind running into them.  I am pretty sure that one of my previous coworkers would definitely encourage me to rock my heels.

Then there are people who I certainly would not like to run into.  I sure as heck do not want to run into any of the machinists where I work when I am out and about.  I am the new guy in the design department and I think that I still have a long way to go until I earn their respect and I don't want anything to possibly cloud that.  You should here them talk crap about people and I don't want to be the focal point.

Interestingly, though, considering either take that I have above requires me to be the judgmental/prejudice one.  I think this person is cool so I wouldn't mind running into them but this dude could be a chump so let's do everything I can to avoid them. Reality could be a totally different experience.

  7. The only Nine West store me is about 2 hours away, but I do try to stop in when I'm going through. The manager has seen me enough to know what I'm looking for. Makes it a bit easier.

There is an adult boutique that carries a pretty large selection of Pleaser models along with Highest Heel and Ellie heels. The manager and a couple of the other girls know me well enough to keep certain sizes of specials and closouts in the back for me in case I stop in.  They take good care of me when it comes to the exotics.

    That's awesome, Heelster!

I love interacting with good sales people.

I had one gal at a Payless just hang out with me and chat while I checked out the styles I was interested in.  We chatted about shoes and about other things.  She too complimented me but the shoes I wanted were just too narrow.  If it hadn't been during a lunch hour I would have stayed another 15 minutes just to chat with her.

It can be dangerous too.  I wound up buying a $50 pair of shoes that I only kind of liked because the sales gal was so cool and helpful.  She knew that if she took really good care of me that I would probably buy and I did.  I really enjoyed the interaction so ultimately the situation was good for me and good for her since she got a sale.  Probably shouldn't have bought the shoes but oh well.

Had some really good experience at Torrid too.  The sales gals there can always cinch a sale with me by commenting to one another, "He walks better in heels than I do."  There has to be something really wrong with a pair of shoes for that one to not work on me.

  8. Howdy,

I took up the challenge.  I made a long post about it a couple months ago.  My experience kind of sucked however it was pretty much my fault.  I would like to give it another shot.

My advice, if you are considering taking up the challenge, would be to go to the mall with some planned purchases and go to an up-scale mall.

  9. Howdy,

I wouldn't say that heels have impacted my intimate decisions however they have impacted my intimate experiences.

I have always been more attracted to a gal who is wearing a great pair of shoes.  Beer goggles ain't got nothing on a good pair of heels.  That being said the gal who I married hardly wears heels at all.

I would say that the first "crush" that I had, way back in seventh grade, was likely because I took notice of the gal because she always wore shoes that would drive me crazy.

As far as bedroom intimacy goes, heels have always had a huge role.  Frankly this has mostly negatively impacted my experience and the experience of my wife.  Further detail on this point just goes into TMI but I can say that I would love to know what it would be like to not need heels to light my fire.

  10. Howdy,

During the period that I was wearing my heels out and about a lot I got a few "notices" that I observed or experienced.  Only one was negative but not that bad.  The first one was a gal that came up to me and really talked me up about my heels.  She thought it was incredible.  I saw her several other times and and she was always friendly.

Another time was when a guy in line behind me said, "Nice wedges."  After getting acquainted he asked a couple questions and thought that it was cool that I was wearing them.  I actually thought that he could become a friend outside of the coffee house however we moved shortly thereafter and I stopped frequenting that coffee house.

I also went to a mall fairly recently and got noticed quite a bit.  It wasn't the most positive experience that I have had in heels however I survived it.  Now, I am armed with a whole lot more ideas of what to do and what not to do when out and about in heels.

  11. Howdy,

Some pretty cool project y'all have going on here.

The number one, all consuming, project that I am working on right now.  Raising my toddler.

The next project that I say I'm working on is putting together a small manufacturing business operating system that I can sell.  In my previous job, though I had no database experience at all, I was charged with make our operating system.  Over the course of a year I put together a pretty darn good operating system in FileMaker Pro.  It was however a continuing experiment that slowly gained all of the functionally that we needed.  Because of that and because I started off without a clue as to what I was doing the behind the scenes stuff is a pretty messy hodge lodge of code and variables and stuff that doesn't even apply to the final system.  Though I have made very little head way reproducing a "clean" version of the database I would consider that my non-parenting project.  If this database were available when we were looking our company would have paid a couple grand for it.  I think there is a chance that I could sell a copy here and there for a couple hundred bucks.  We'll see.

The project that I wish I had but don't because I don't have the cash, time, or space would be home cockpit building.  My dream was always to fly big airplanes.  When my vision tanked in my early twenties the dream tanked with it.  I have, however, logged an hour and a half in a full motion sim and it was awesome.  To have a fixed base sim at home would be my next dream.  There are actually a good handful of people out there who do this already and even a company or two that cater to these folks.  See: http://www.flightdecksolutions.com.

  12. My first solo flight at Biggin Hill.

    Al

My first solo flight was at Swanton Morley in a Kirby cadet.

My first solo was at CVG (Greater Cincinnati Regional Airport) in a Cessna 150 back in the 70s.  I got within 5 hours of getting my license and ran out of money.  When I did have the funds, I didn't have the time to get current and complete the cross country work,  I have never gone back to it and I couldn't afford it now besides getting current would be a lot of work :reading:.

Good one guys.  My first solo at KIWA was anticlimactic, however, as I was my instructor's second student and he really made sure I was ready.  It was at the former Williams Air Force Base where I could have done all three touch and goes in one pass on the 12,000 foot long runway.

I have a bunch of ideas however the most amazing experience I have had, I would say, would be the adoption of our son.  Our adoption process was amazing.  It has been a very open adoption.  We had come to know our birth mom a couple months prior to her becoming pregnant and approaching us for adoption.  (My wife and I had been trying to start a family for years and were just a couple weeks away from our first IVF attempt.)  We developed a strong bond with her during the pregnancy and we were very involved with the birth and days in the hospital there after.  We took care of each other.  We cried together.  We interacted with her family at the hospital and we walked out of the hospital together.  Our lawyers received calls from social workers and nurses saying that they had never seen an adoption with such amazing union between the birth mom and the adoptive parents.  We have remained close with her after the adoption and of he own accord she has started to move further away from us.  Her life has is starting to blossom as she continues to grow beyond the horrible experience that she had with abusive parents at home and siblings winding up in and out of jail.  Our son is amazing and is a very strong spirited 2-1/2 year old now who is exceptionally intelligent as well.

When I get the chance I'll post my runner up experiences.

    Larry
