  1. Howdy,

I think that the "awe" reflects the tame shoes that most gals wear these days. They are very easy to walk in. I'm enjoying the comments so I'll just keep their ease walking to myself.

TBG, 06W is the style number. Kinda misleading. The size is actually 12W. Most Bordello shoes don't come in wide but I wanted shoes that we're nice and tall, fit well, and came in the WAM signature red patent color. That pretty much limited me to the Teeze in wide width.

Since my wife and son are going to be with me (unbelievable in its own right) its import for me to fit in with the rest of the poorly dressed crowd. I will likely wear jeans or even shorts.

  2. Howdy,

    This is pretty cool.

So, I will be doing the Walk a Mile event here in Sacramento this Sunday.  It's supposed to be one of the biggest WAM events yet and Guinness will be there to certify a record of at least 1000 men walking a mile in heels.  I am pretty excited.

So, I took a risk and posted my fund raising page to my Facebook page.  I figured best case scenario I can get some donations and some positive reactions.  Worst case I could get some unpleasant reactions.  I also figured out that even if the worst  case played out it would be positive in that I could separate some of the wheat from he chaff.  What I didn't expect was a cool comment from my dad.

My wife and I, now a state away from our families, stay in pretty regular contact with our parents.  While chatting with my Mom and Dad I mentioned that I am doing this walk, described the event, and asked if they would consider donating.  When I  told them that it is comprised of men walking in high heels my dad said, "Well, that will be right up your alley."  He said it in an excited and supportive tone.  I have to tell you that felt pretty darn cool.

My folks and I talked one day, at length, about all this stuff a good 5 years ago or so.  He hasn't mentioned it since and i figured that he basically pushed it out of mind.  For him to sound so supportive like that, in a way, took a bit of a load off of my shoulders.

Also, all of the attention that I am receiving on Facebook has been pretty awesome too.  My first post didn't get much attention.  In my second post I included a picture of the shoes that I am wearing - pic  below, Red Bordello Teeze 06W, and the post took off like wild fire.  I have received a bunch of donations and many of my wife's friends and gals on my side of the family are posting with support and fun chiding.  One said that she couldn't walk five feet in the shoes and another wondered if I will make the full mile.  All are demanding pictures.  I really am loving the attention and, for at least a brief bit, not being secret about heels and me.  This is fun.

  3. I would love to post more however I rarely have the time to post.  At most I have a minute or two here or there to catch up on what is going on.  A couple times a month I have enough time to actually write a post.  When you have young kids you just don't have time for much more than the essentials.

These are the shoes that HappyInHeels mentioned above.  They are my super basic, super easy to wear shoes.

Here is a pair of my favorite shoes that I have a ton of "miles" in.  They are not quote so "stealthy"  I have probably worn them more that  the wedges and I most frequently receive the comment, "I can't walk in heels like that," when wearing them.

  4. A great experience with the trooper. I feel for her and without too much assumption I suspect that your choice to wear what you enjoy helped her reconcile the loss of her brother in some way. Maybe consider it a Godwink for boldly expressing that which makes you shine.

  5. Ahhhh…..  Thongs…  The "string bikini" of sandals.  Love 'em, have since I was a kid.  About 90% of my sandals - flats and heels - are the thong style.

Out here in California there are opportunities to wear sandals a lot and most of the time you can find me out in thongs; flats or heels, whatever is right for the moment.

    Take care…  sf

PS a few pics of my favs...

    Some nice footwear there, SF.

Very cool pic with the Mrs. too!

I haven't worn a pair of heeled thongs since I first started wearing heels 28 years ago.  I don't have anything particularly against them.  I just haven't stumbled any in my size in a style that worked for me.

  6. TBG, I just have to give you credit for giving the pink outfit a shot. Whether it is beyond the scope of your typical preference or not it took guts to push the envelope. Whether you wear it again or not, to use Jeff B's term, Bravo!

  7. Thanks guys!

HEELS2U, I hear you about the sound.  When I was going out a couple times a week the sound didn't bother me but right now I think I like the quite thing. At least until I get back into more frequent outings.

I also hear you about getting out of the car.  Don't pause man.  That can kill a great outing before it starts.

I gotta say, however, I am not interested in shaving my legs.  If the weather is 40 degrees or warmer in the morning then I wear shorts and I rather appreciate my hairy, manly legs.  As I mentioned in another thread, it looks like some of my coworkers do to.  :-)

  8. Howdy,

I had a real nice outing today.

I decided that it was time to do some of my errands in heels.  I have located a decent neighborhood in Orangeville which is about half an hour from where I live.  In agreement with my wife I make my outings in heels a fair bit outside of our neighborhood to help minimize the chances that I may run into folks we know.  Frankly I care less and less about running into people that we know as time goes on but it is still a sizable concern to her so I oblige.

I was wearing my regular, straight leg jeans, a dark blue tee-shirt, black socks, and my 5-inch black suede Lunar wedges by Brash from Payless.  Though the jeans were a little hot for our 75 degree 24% humidity day I opted for them as I don’t shave my legs.  I opted for the socks because they blend perfectly with the black wedges.  That combined with the low sound “footprint” (pun intended) of the shoes I figured that folks would have to just outright stare at my shoes to know exactly what I was wearing.  Since I am kind of getting back into the swing of things reducing my presence seemed important to me.

Since I had a pretty good grocery list built up and I wanted to go to Winco Foods, a discount food store similar to Walmart but one that only sells food and has a huge selection with low prices.  At 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon the place was packed.

I got right out of my Xterra and walked in.  In the entrance there was an 80 year old lady who was having trouble with her cart.  I helped her get a cart and chatted briefly about the ankle surgery that she needed.  Pretty sure that she didn’t notice my heels even when I passed her a moment later in the store.  She was quite pleasant and then we went our separate ways.

I made my way through the entire store grabbing the items that I needed.  I had to backtrack several times as I do not yet know the layout of the store well yet.  There was a fantastic amount of walking to do and I loved every minute of it.  I ran into a number of people a couple of times and not once did I receive any kind of overt indication that my shoes had been noticed.  I did at one point have to excuse myself as I tried to fit through a narrow gap.  The gal to whom I excused myself, who I had passed several times already, seemed to have trouble looking at me and responding but was not unpleasant.  She just had a blank stare and kind of nodded.  Other than that I really had zero indication that anybody noticed my heels at all.  That was pretty cool.

Well as my list got checked off I went to the checkout, paid, and bagged my groceries.  Walking out to my SUV I noticed that I was really thirsty so on my way back home I stopped at at Starbucks for a Passion Tea Lemonade. I skipped the drive thru.  Inside, the workers were completely friendly and not one customer batted an eyebrow.  I would have sat and enjoyed my drink but there perishable groceries out in the parking lot so I walked back out and headed home.

It was a great trip and with the exception of initial butterflies I felt completely relaxed.  Not sure when my next trip out will be but I do look forward to it.

    Larry

  9. I think that I have decent guys legs but not really decent legs for heels. The other day I was bending over to pick something up at work and I felt someone touching my calves. I looked up and one of the gals, a friend, said, "I don't have anything that hard on my entire body." I too used to cycle. I stopped cycling when my son came and I too continued to eat like I was still cycling.

Since I don't shave my legs I will spare you all the pic.

  10. Sounds like wives have even more fear to overcome than the guy wearing the heels.

This is true. My wife and I had a conversation last week about just that. We talked about it being okay on other guys but not her guy. She said, "Honey, I still have a lot of work to do on me, I get it. I'm still just not that comfy with it. "

  11. I agree that a pair plain black pumps, particularly black suede or black patent, are truly beautiful shoes.  Probably 25% of my current collection consists of black pumps.

For a significant period my favorite  shoes were tall, plain, white kid pumps.  This was during the early '90s  I recall saying to a girl that I used to hang out with the that a pair of plain white 4-inch pumps were an incredibly sexy pair of shoes.  At that point nothing could top it for me.

My tastes change however tall, 4.5-inch, black suede pumps still top my list of "buy it now" heels if I find them in my size.

  12. I will be flying to Phoenix here in the not too distant future.  The temptation is strong to wear heels for the flight but my wife will be picking me up inside the terminal.  Changing into sneakers before I get to the waiting area inside the terminal seems like a pretty lame thing to do.

She "allows" me to wear heels out and about from time to time if I am cautious about my location.  She isn't comfortable going out with me and really, really does not want the, "Did I see your husband wearing heels?" question should I ever run into people that we know.

So, I believe that respecting her boundaries looks like passing on this opportunity to wear heels while flying.

  13. If I were in that area I would love to connect but sadly, I'm not.  Heck I only live 2 hours away from SF and we have yet to connect.

I have to say that one of my coolest moments was the first time that I had coffee with KFSteve.  Sitting outside Starbucks on a gorgeous Phoenix afternoon I glanced downward and saw the sculptured lines of my pumps below the hem line of my jeans and then I realized that I was having a relaxed casual conversation with another fellow who is also wearing heels.  It was a truly delightful moment.

I hope you connect with others soon.  I too have a longing for the connection and the experience of casual outing in heels with friends.

    Best,

    Larry
