  1. To some here the act of buying and buying maybe addictive behavior. I started buying high heels over three years ago and have over 50 pairs, but I don't think I am addicted. I got to have a heel for every outfit.  :cheeky:

For me shoes never fitted so buying/wearing them was a chore. When I found in 2011 that I had women's shaped feet it all made sense and I started to purchase only women's shoes. And 4 inch heels in 2015.

I'm not addicted because I will only buy heels that fit perfectly, or duplicates of favorite shoes. Yes, I've learned the hard way that if you find something that you like get more before they are gone. But I can go into a store and try on a few pairs. If they are not perfect I have the will power to put them back in the box and not get them. Shopped six shoe stores last week; tried on 3 pairs of heels. Bought NONE.

  2. YES

It depends on the season, late fall-winter=early spring mostly boots and booties, rarely will I wear open toe. I need at 3.75 inch rise between toe and heel and have some that go up to a 5 inch rise.

Late-spring to early fall its open toe high heel sandals and the occasional boot. Love to mess with people's minds when I wear my calf high boots with short shorts and a Hawaiian shirt.  Love platforms, wedges, and block heels. Love showing off my painted toenails.

I'm on my feet for 12 hours a day, so I rarely wear stilettos. And I have never found a pump my toe tendons can live with, so NO pumps

  3. The store was basically empty. There was a woman making a purchase and she left as the Asian woman entered. At that Steve Madden store I'm a known customer since I've bought several pairs of heels there over the past three years. The SA know me and come over to talk every time I enter the store. And they know I like HIGH heels, higher than some of SA can wear so they always give me excellent help while ignoring other customers.

I chose to be kind in my response to her, better to be kind (and mess with her mind) than get angry and make a scene. I want to be welcomed in that store, I love my Steve Madden, Madden Girl, and Freebird heels.

  4. I had my first somewhat negative reaction in a shoe store yesterday. I was at a Steve Madden store in a large mall yesterday. The staff welcome me as usual and one of the SAs came over to personally welcome me and she had seen me in some time. I have bought and returned (on-line) shoes there, so they (the SA) treat me very well. I had asked to try a pair of shoes on and they were finding them for me. An Asian woman was also shopping at the same time and they brought both of our shoes out at the same time, giving her's first (closes to the her and then mine. So I took off a bootie and was trying on the heels and the Asian woman said "Those are girls shoes"

    "I know, 4 inch heels."

"But those are girls shoes, why you try on?"

At this point I had slipped on the heel and was looking at how it fit, so I lifted the bootie I had just taken off up (It had 4 inch heels) and said "I wear heels for my back" and continued trying them on. The SA came over and I asked if they had a larger size in the back, no (that's normal for them to only carry to size 10 in stores and 11 only on-line) and if they were leather or not, not.

They were just a little too tight so I didn't get them. Took off the one heel I had tried on, put my bootie back on and went to look at the Aldo's store next door.  The Aldo store didn't have size 10 in the styles I wanted to try on.

  5. Most of what you have seen written here is from men that live in western societies where there isn't the "machismo" that you might be experiencing.  I know when I traveled to South America my daughter warned me not to wear my heels. I wore some heels, but only my 2.5 inch heels and I only used clear nail polish.

When I went to Australia, I was able to wear my high heels, but I again only had clear nail polish.

  6. This is a hard topic.  Have you seen pictures of what you look like?

I wear many different types of women's clothing on a daily basis.  Some is because of issues from some major injuries, other clothing I find fit me better than the men's version, or simply there is not a male version (like sleeves turtlenecks). I like fitted over loose, enjoy having more style/color than the drab clothing colors for men.  A good 60 - 70% of what I wear started on the woman's side, but you wouldn't notice unless you looked at the labels.  I wear Victoria's Secret tops and sweaters and get compliments. I have men asking where I found items all the time.

The point is, I found my happy zone, I pick and chose what I like and don't care what others say. I'm man enough to be my own man, I don't subscribe to lemming mentality. But I'm lucky to live in a tolerant area.
