  1. I voted for three western cities (Vancouver, SF, and LV) all within reasonable distance from where I am. Any of them would work well for me. If it is in one of these three locations, there is a really decent chance I could make it. If it is any of the other locations however, I probably couldn't pull it off.

  2. Ahh yes, found the culprit boots here with specs: Cost - $1495 (youch), they are 5¾" heel (145mm) with a 1½" (40mm) platform. So they are comperable to a 4¼" heel. What a wimp Miley is... but she is only 17, so I guess give her an E for effort

Looks like we were both within a ¼ inch of the true height Dr Shoe (me from the total height, and you from the height excluding the platform). :(

  3. Searched several sites and they all make reference to Miley in Milan in 7" heels. The link here has probably the best pictures that I found. I am about 99% sure those are only 6" heels though. I just love how one article gets published and 20 other clone articles spring up with the exact same (mis)information. Ahh well, they were still too high for her to use gracefully on the stairs apparently...

  4. OK - there are offices where that outfit could pass with no problems. Then again, some places would not allow it.

It all depends on the office and how it's presented.

Back to the basics - Let her decide what she feels is appropriate for the office she works in.

Agree with both comments, that outfit is passable, but still its her decision to wear what she is comfortable in.

Side question: I guess am interested in understanding the attraction to thighboots (same question applies to platforms that are 1.5" or more, I don't get that one either). To me, kneehigh boots are incredibly sexy as they are usually very form fitting and compliment the shape of the leg very nicely, and together with a short skirt, wow. On the other hand, thighhigh boots are usually looser fitting, especially above the knee they flare out, and just look awkward and uncomfortable to wear. Well, I probably opened a can of worms with this question, but I just want to understand the attraction to them. Sorry if my question offends anyone...

  5. I agree with everyone here, why would you want to coerce/convince her to wear thigh highs to work? I have worked in an office environment for 20 years and have never seen anyone wear thigh highs. Even knee high boots or any heels over 4" in a business office can be a bit edgy, unless done very tastefully. Sorry, but people would instantly think she was trashy and unprofessional, even if she was the best employee there. In fact, I can think of very few work environments where thigh highs would be appropriate.

  6. I saw that article posted on another site the other day, and I agree with all of you here. It was a stupid study, and has no point. Although, of course we are pretty biased here, most of us can spot heels from a mile away and probably rarely fail to miss a great pair of heels out in public. Our minds don't quite work the same as many other guys, and there probably are a rather large number of guys that pay absolutely zero attention to shoes or even fashion for that matter.

  7. ok, well, a small number of people can pull it off, and heelguy might be one of the very few guys that perhaps could. I saw an interview of Jennifer Aniston wearing a very sexy outfit that included dark colored short-shorts, and of course heels, and she pulled it off quite nicely, but she could pull off just about anything and still look great. So, ya I guess if you have legs like heelguy or Jennifer Aniston, and the confidence to pull it off, go for it... otherwise, stay far far away.

  8. Good plan! A lot of men make, in my opinion, a HUGE mistake whenever they get any sort of "approval/acceptance" from their wives/girlfriends. And that is, they must be very careful to show that they care more for them than they do for the shoes. Afterall, it's about their relationship with you and they do not appreciate taking a "back seat" to a pair of high heels. Remember, partner, first at all costs. High heels, second in every case.

Almost missed this post, but very good words of wisdom Bubba, and I have fallen into this bucket myself. I have a few times taken my wifes gradual acceptance of my way of life and pushed it continuously farther, and have been guilty of going too far.

I need to always remember, I am very fortunate to have such a wonderful wife that does take as much crap from me as she has with me and my lifestyle.

  9. For a large percentage of my public heels, I lean toward those that are as plain looking as possible while worn under jeans. That usually ends up being ankle/knee high boots, or oxford or mary jane type shoes. I try to pick dark colors (most are black or brown), and those that are do not have a shiny finish, they usually have a round toe box, chunky heel or wedge heel, and a small platform (0.5 - 1", since most men's shoes technically have a small platform, and this also helps the shoe to not look so small on my feet to others). Also, whenever possible, I try to find shoes that use a quieter sounding material on the heel/base as to not make as much clacking noise on the floor (to not attract extra attention through noise). In fact, I have a number of rubber soled or rubber base lined heels in my collection, which can be harder to find.

  10. Virginia? Perhaps! But, how can you tell. (There are Wal-Mart stores all over the state.....several in the Washington, DC area where I used to live. Unless there is a sign posted somewhere that I've not noticed, I'd really like to know how you can pinpoint it so exactly?

There are quite a few comments on that same page that say the have seen him in often in Ashland & Richmond, Virginia at this Walmart and at a nearby shopping mall. Also, he is also featured in a Virginia link from that same page where there are more pictures of him.

  11. Oh gosh no, absolutely none around here at all. If it weren't for this website, I would think I was an alien from outer space for wanting to do this at all in public. Thank goodness for this site for letting me know there is a good number of us out there. I wish I could meet up someday with people from this site in person, but real life scheduling conflicts and money (aka being able to just fly out for a heel meet on a whim) gets in the way of that. In the grand scheme of things, out of the nearly 7 billion people on this planet, we are still a very small number here sadly. :)

  12. That guy does have very nice legs, if he brought down his "bling" factor a few notches or so, he actually would not look bad at all.

... running though the pictures (1st 100) if that is a snapshot of American shopping style (and obesity) then many of the UK based supermarket dress codes are piffle.

That particular website was created primarily to poke fun of some people that shop at Walmart. There has been a long standing reputation for Walmart as having the most interesting shoppers that often include rednecks, very unstylish and slovenly dressed people, lower income people, and odd creatures of all sorts. On occasion I've gone to Walmart and perhaps its a regional thing, but where I am, the people that shop there seem just like anyone else (nothing entertaining enough to be posted to that website).

So no, your comment on that site being a real snapshort of American shopping style and obesity is really not the case. But I won't deny, there sure are a ton of unique creatures that continue to keep that website going very strong indeed. :)

  13. Unless you are very well groomed, tanned, and have nicely toned legs, I would say no. I won't even discuss the male package issue. I would recommend a skirt before you consider short shorts in public. Even on women, I really love the way short-shorts look on a beautiful women, I love seeing them, BUT when combined with high heels, it looks a bit trashy.

  14. You might get away with adding a small wedge to them, but no more than a couple of inches in height, and unless the shoes are very flexible at about the 2/3 point in the sole lengthwise, they just wouldnt sit right.

The wedge can only run along the rear of the shoe up to a point just before the ball of your feet and this where the shoe would have to flex considerably to accomodate the added wedge incline and then from the ball of the foot forward to the toes would need to sit flat. That is not likely to happen and probably would not be worth the effort in my opinion. Otherwise you would be creating either a platform shoe, or a sloping shoe (would feel like you are walking downhill at all times). Also, a shoe that was not designed as having a heel from the start and is modified to have one, would not at all be comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Well, if you are so inclined to put your handyman skills to use and don't mind probably destroying those shoes in the process, go for it and have fun I guess :)

  15. I bought many new heels including a few pairs of sandals in the last several months. Today, I took a stroll out in one of my pairs in a nearby shopping area and took some pictures and videos (with a cell phone). The videos are posted here on youtube.

Apologies for the hair on my legs, I shave about 3/4 of the year, but I am in my summer shorts mode and I don't normally heel in shorts either (jeans are the norm for me).

and a few more in jeans...

  16. Have been shaving my legs for a couple of years now, and I often do wear female jean shorts out, but not the super short type, they are more of a mid-thigh style. This last summer, I have started to get into painted toe nails, but have only displayed them to the public a couple of times in limited situations, but I really love the way they look. I used to hate the way my feet look, but all dressed up and groomed correctly, I am pretty happy with them now. :) I am sort of freaking out my wife though, it seems each year I have slowly edged a bit closer to exploring the fem side of life. Not sure how far I will take it, sometimes I worry myself about that and wonder why I do it. Sigh :)

  17. Nice day out you had there. Though I do have to ask, what is with the frequent change in shoes/boots during your adventure? Wouldn't it be far less bothersome and less baggage to carry to just head out in a pair of heels for the duration? Not sure I understand what you are doing this for, if you want to wear all of the shoes and perhaps give them equal air time, wear one pair on one outing, then the next time you go out (later that evening, or the next day, etc), wear another pair, well, that is how MOST people would do it anyway :) Anyway, as long as you are having fun with it I suppose. :)

  18. Here in the Dallas Texas area a biological woman who looks feminine is frequently addressed as "sir" and nobody takes offense.

    Really? :)

    Yes ma'am sweetie sir! :rose:

    :)

If there is ever any uncertainty on my part as to a person's title, or I don't have a person's name, etc, I typically follow a policy of leaving out such pronouns or titles, rather than making embarrasing mistakes you have to aplogize for, such as these silly examples: "Pardon me, can you help me with..."; "Excuse me, can I ask you..."; "Hi, is there a..."; "I have a question for you ..."; etc.

  19. Jeff, very nice outfits as always and I am always amazed at how well simply brush off your encounters with these people that are not ready for change. :) When I've had incidents similar to the teens laughing or someone frowning, smirking, or staring perplexedly, I struggle at keeping my cool and have to fight an urge to make a quick escape. So far my reaction to these is to nervously smile back and try to carry on as I can feel a rush of adreneline and tension inside me that I am sure is obvious, and I probably end up walking a bit faster than I should at that point. At any rate, I think its great you are leading the way so boldly and doing it in style :)
