  1. I live about 45 minutes away from Carmel CA, and the wife and I visit there quite often. I knew about the quirky law, it is a throwback from years ago and no longer enforced (probably unconstitutional). However, me being the rebel scofflaw that I am, the wife and I have worn heels in Carmel many times in the past - oh the humanity - and never have had a problem. Come and visit, nice place too.... sf P.S. There are lots of other brazen women there openly breaking the law - as far as I know, I have been the only guy, too bad.... There are even shoes stores there that sell "fruits of the crime."

  2. JSpikeheels... Yeah, I'm not into real high heels - 2 1/2 inches is my personal limit, but I have wondered about those low, sometimes less than one inch, kitten heel syle of shoe / sandal. They look unusual to me too - stubby might be a descriptive word. If the heel is going to be that low, make it a wedge, block or chunky type heel, not a kitten heel. As for your response, great!! We need more guys out in heels. Don't know about your area, but I feel I am the only guy out here in CA wearing heels. It's a lonely life!! ha ha... Take care...

  3. hh_pe, Hi... I liked your story. We are lucky, we both have wives that are OK with us wearing heels - even in public - with the wives!! I like your Aerosoles shoes. They look very unisex, I would wear those in a minute. I have 3 pairs of Aerosoles sandals, VERY comfrotable and stylish shoes, as you know. The staff at the Aerosoles stores are always very helpful. Take care... sf

  4. Beaztheelz... The only way to get your "confidence" to wear heels in public is to just do it. Roniheels and I are about the same age (old guys - for me at least - ha ha) and as I get older I don't really care what others think. You are still young - lucky guy - so you just have to build up the courage to get out there. I wish more guys wore heels in public, out here in CA I have NEVER seen another guy in heels or girls shoes, amazing. Based on posts here, there are hh wearers out here, but few and far between. I mostly wear sandals with heels up to 2 1/2 to 3 inches. My reasons are for fun, comfort and to make a statement that yes a guy can wear heels and it's no big deal!!

  5. Roniheels, Wow, what you do in a day I get done in a week!! Nice story. Like you, I wear heels in public a lot - have since 1996. Mostly I wear sandals and like your story, my experiences have been very typical. No one seems to notice, women seem to notice more than men and usually nobody cares! I do get some stares, giggles or muffled whispers but those generally are the exception. And I have even gotten a few compliments. Last weekend the wife and I spent two days at a casino and I wore hhsandals the entire time (didn't even bring any "regular" shoes) and only once did some gals - employees - stop and look at my shoes, but never said anything.... I am in central CA, what part of the country are you in?? Thanks for the story, sf

  6. Roxy, Buen dia, como esta usted senora?? I see you are from Argentina, a lovely country. In 1996 I was there visiting for a month and during that trip I became "hooked" on high heels. My story - if anyone is interested. Since a teen, I have always liked and worn girls shoes, mostly flat sandals. When I went to Argentina, I noticed that most all of the women wore wonderful high heel sandals. The shoes looked so classy and elegant. There were all different styles, heel heights and materials. Some of my travel companions even noticed and commented on the shoes, and the gals that I was with bought several pairs. I still have fond memories of seeing all the high heel sandals in Argentina. Several months later, after I returning back to the U.S., I was "shoe shopping" as I always do, looking for some flat womens sandals for the summer. I saw a pair of black slip-on thongs, that had a braided upper and a 2 1/2 inch "kitten type" heel, and they were in my size. They reminded me of some of the sandals I had seen in Argentina. I tried them on, they fit, and the next thing I knew I was in line making my purchase! I had NEVER thought that I would ever be caught in public wearing a pair of high heel womens sandals, but boy, was I wrong. When I got home I showed my new shoes to my wife and she laughed and thought I had gone nuts. Since then she has become quite comfortable with me in heels. From that summer day in 1996, I have become a regular wearer of high heel sandals. I now have about 30 pairs of heels and wear them out quite regularly. So Roxy, it is all Argentinas fault. Es la culpa de Argentina - gracia Argentina!!! Someday I hope to return for another visit.... Saludas a todo, Se vaya bien... sf

  7. Many years ago, when I was in 8th grade, my english teacher wore springolator sandals every day. I have vivid memories of her. She was an attractive "older" lady - I was 15 years old, age is relative ya know - and her sandals were gold and black. Even at that age I enjoyed womens shoes and had already started a "collection" of sandals for myself. I enjoyed looking at her shoes, and I hope after the fact that I wasn't being to obvious. During the year she made a few reference to her sandals, and how comfortable they were... I enjoyed going to her class.... sf

  8. Yes Radiodave, Hand written thank you notes are nice!! I have gotten them twice. One was for an on-line purchase I made at Zappos. The other was from the gal who waited on me at a Marmi shoe store. At Marmi, I told the lady the shoes were for me and she was all smiles and said wonderful. I was looking at one particular style, but she brought out at least 3 other styles as well to try on. It was fun! I wound up buying the one style I was initially looking at. When the thank-you letter came in the mail, I was plesantly surprised.. And yes, I have gone back again! sf

  9. No, I do not feel guilty at all when wearing heels. If fact, when I wear heels I feel very happy and confident. Maybe the "endorphin" rush that one gets after exercise?? I wish I could get out in heels more often tho. I have been heeling in public since 1996 (I still remember the first time!!) and wish I had done it sooner.... Life is short.. Take care all... sf

  10. ILovePumps... We are both heel wearers but for opposite reasons. I am a sandal wearer, always have been. I have two pairs of clogs, but the rest of my hh shoe collection is womens sandals (the guy's styles are ugly!). Maybe it is because the climate here is a bit warmer and sandals can be worn more often. I have been looking at trying some pumps for wear during the colder times of the year. I have yet to find a pair that I like, but I will continue searching. I find sandals very comfortable, I wonder how the comfort level of sandals compares to pumps... Take care, sf

  11. Walk a Mile in her Shoes.... I believe they have those events in the UK. I have been in a few over here in the US, the events are fun, support a good (but possibly unachievable) cause - anti violence, and are a darn good excuse to get out in public in high heels!!! Have fun... sf

  12. Hi Dan.... This is a nice site. Like you, I am in my mid 50's and also enjoy wearing womens shoes, both flats and heels. I have worn gals shoes since I was a teen. My wife knows abot my "shoes," she knew when we were dating. What would your wife say / do if you told her? Anyway, welcome... Happy heeling!!! sf

  13. For you chaps across the pond, do they have the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" events over there? It is a charity event in the US promoting anti-violence against women (and men too I would imagine). During the event, men wear high heels and walk for some distance. I have participated in two of these events, it is a good way to get out in heels comfortably (especially good for newbies), and at the same time promote a good cause and have some fun!!! sf

  14. 1234tazzer, One of the guys that you saw in Vegas wearing heels might possibly have been me. I have worn heels (sandals) as a guy in Vegas quite often. The wife and I are planning another trip there in March and, guess what, I will be wearing heels then too!! Try it, it's fun!!! sf But sadly, I have never seen another guy out in heels. It's a lonely life for us public heelers.....

  15. Well..... Here in the USA (can't speak to other countries) a guy wearing heels (or womens clothing) is absolutely 1000% legal!!! In the US we have a constitution that guarantees life, liberty and the pursit of happiness. The constitution spells out what the government CAN NOT do to it's citizens, and restricting the wearing of certian types of clothing is NOT addressed. As for driving, I am not aware of a single state that resrticts driving while wearing heels (or barefoot for that matter - some folks think that is illegal - it's not). I have had occasions where police have seen me in heels and they just keep on going. I would be very concerned if I was detained just because I was wearing high heels. High Heel, did you have an "incident" with the police?? sf

  16. My experience has shown that the shoe sizing standard is to not have one. Like RonC said, and I concur, sizes vary - a lot. That's why I hate to mail order, but sometimes that is your only option.... sf

  17. High Heel.. Welcome to the site, it's a good one. All I can say is to get out in public in your heels and see what the reaction is (on isn't). You will be nervous and scared, but those feelings will go away with time. I have been heeling in public for years, love it - it's fun - but still, depending on the shoe I am wearing and the location, get nervous at times. When folks do react or comment, the positive/friendly comments far outweigh the negative ones. If more guys went out in public in heels it would be less of an issue. In all my years, I have yet to see a guy out in heels, except for me when I look in a mirror - ha ha... Take care and have fun.... sf
