  1. Try before you buy is a good policy. Target (also Payless) is a good place for shoes that look nice, are inexpensive and come in size 11 (the sandals in my avatar are fom Target). Nordstrom also has larger sizes as well as the shoe store chain "Marmi", in a few select US cities. sf

  2. There are a lot of shoe shopping opportunities in So Cal!! The Nordstrom stores are great, they have sizes in some styles to size 12 (and a lot more on line). In Laguna Beach there is a store called Marmi's, they also carry larger sizes up to 12 (and some 13's). The staff at all of the Marmi stores I have been at are GREAT, very kind and helpful, and could care less if a guy tried on shoes in the store. If you are shoe shopping in Orange County, give Marmi a try (also have a store in Marina Del Rey - great staff there too).... sf

  3. Fortunately yes, and guess I am one of the lucky ones!! When my wife and I were dating I wore fem shoes - flat sandals, she questioned my style way back then and I explained that I enjoyed wearing those shoes. She accepted this, and we even bought some matching pairs. After about 10 years of marriage, I began to wear heels. Initally she was a bit put off, but after talking she came to accept my "quirk", and now we have some matching heels and occasionally wear heels together. She is a great gal, and I am thankful that she accepts me for what I am... sf

  4. Well, it's been one week and so far no response from the BBC Womans Hour to my email message / comment. Don't 'spose I will be hearing from them. Maybe they don't want input from us folks over here in the States (ha ha, just kidding folks!!)... Take care all, sf

  5. Yes hhboots, If one is to wear sandals, especially hh sandals, your feet should look nice. I take care of my feet, applying lotion and using a callous file. I also get pedicures and finish with a clear coat. Some time I even wear a toe ring. My wife says that my feet look pretty for a guy... ha ha take care, sf

  6. OK, that could be fun. I am very busy the next few weeks, maybe we can set something up the 2nd week in August. Send me a Private Msg and we can work out the details. And yes, anyone else want to come along?? sf

  7. James... A meeting could be fun. Maybe we could meet in the Milpitas - Fremont area some time. Maybe at a Starbucks or something; and in heels of course. Anyone else intersted on coming along?? What style of heels do you wear (boots, pumps, sandals)? I am a sandal wearer, summer time is the right time!! Take care, sf

  8. What part of the Bay Area are you guys in?? I live in the San Jose area. Glad to know that I am NOT the only guy in heels around here. Yeah, a get together might be interesting... sf

  9. Docs, How you?? Great story. It's good (and fun) to be out in heels!! I like those Kork Ease sandals, I have been thinking about getting a pair myself. I have also taken trips where I only take heels or fem shoes to wear, with no "male" back-up shoes, how risky!! ha ha.. And it's great that our wives are OK with our heel wearing. Your wife must be a sweetheart - I know mine is!! Good story, it's good that we are out there, I wish there were more of us. See ya, sf

  10. I was able to listen to the program here in the US. Good to hear that on the air, it makes our "cause" more credible. I sent a response to the Womens Hour about my hh experience here in the US. It will be interesting to see if they use it. see ya, sf

  11. Flats are great!! I have worn flats since I was a teen. When heels are not proper or appropriate for the occasion, I usually wear flats, mostly sandals... sf

  12. Hi all.... You can still order on line and have the shoes shipped to the store of your choice for free. I did just that recently. I bought a pair of Lisette braided thong slides in size 11 at a local payless store. When I tried them on at the store, they seemed fine (I have always worn size 11 in Payless sandals) but when I got home and really was able to check the fit, they seemed a bit to small. I ordered a pair in size 12 and had them shipped to the store, it takes a bit of time - about - 10 days, but that's OK. Each visit the clerks were very nice and friendly, did not seem to mind me trying on the shoes at the store - I wrote an earlier post about that experience. I just wonder if Payless has changed their sizing of shoes. Bye... sf

  13. Hi all... Now days in this hi tech world, everyone seems to have a cell phone camera. Once last summer and again last week, I was photographed while out in heels. The folks taking the pics thought they were being sneaky and doing it without my knowledge (and there most certianly have been others who succesfully took pics w/o me knowing). Has anyone had similar encounters? In my opinion, I think it's irritating and rude. Just wondering what everyone thinks. On the other side, when a guy wears womens sandals in public, there probably is a reasonable expectation that they would be photographed, just because of the novelty. More guys need to wear heels in public!! sf

  14. BobHH, How you? The "stripper" or hh platform sandals look nice but not for me. Do you wear that style in public? I wear high heels in public all the time (whenever possible), but prefer a sandal with a lower heel height, up to 2 inches ideally, since I am already 6 foot 3 inches tall. If I were shorter maybe I would go for the higher heel "stripper" type sandals. Plus my intent when wearing heels is to be happy and comfortable, not necessarily to attract attention to myself - but that still happens at times, even with 2 inch sandals!! What the heck... ha ha !!! Take care all, sf
