  1. I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted something here.  It is not because I haven't been getting out in heels.  It is just that my outings are pretty much the same evertime except for the outfit.  And unless something happens worth posting I usually don't. Todays outing was the same as most of my others.  Just me, my laptop, and a coffee shop.  The difference today was in my outfit.

Most of my outfits are put together myself.  I am at the point where I can look thru my stuff and know what will go with what before I even put them on.  Today however, the inspiration, and pieces for my outfit came from someone else.  I was out shopping earlier today in a clothing store and I spotted a young women In her 20's or 30's If I had to guess.  And as jerry seinfeld once said.  She posessed many of the qualities prized by the superficial man.  She was also nicely put together.  Not over dressed, but better dressed then alot of the other women I see out and about.  And as it turns out, we have some of the same tastes in clothing and footwear.  She was wearing an outfit similar to how I usually dress.  I call it "fancy casual".  More dressy than what you normally see around here, but at the same time it doesn't look like you spent hours getting ready.  A complete outfit where every piece compliments one another.  I can usually put one of those outfits together in 20 minutes or less these days.  I studied her outfit from head to toe.  I realized I had something similar to almost everything she was wearing, except for her handbag.  I might just have to add one to my shopping list for the future.  We happened to be shopping in the same area. And we both happend to pick out the same piece of clothing. Just in different sizes of course!  She was a little shorter and thinner than I was.

I have always seen women in jumpsuits, and I have always wanted to try them out.  But I had yet to find one that I liked and thought would work for me, until today.  We both picked out the same one off the rack and she comment to me how cute she thought it was, and I agreed.  It was a darker pink colour and I decided to go and try it on.  Not only did it fit great, it was so comfy!  as luck would have it she was trying some things on as well, and we left the changerooms at nearly the same time.  As she walked towards me I politely asked her if it fit.  She said it fit so good!  She then asked If I tried it on.  I told her I did. I told her I agreed with the great fit, and I told how comfy I thought it was as well.  She told me that she now had to find a jacket to pair over top of it.  I told her good luck with that.  And I also stashed that fashion nugget away for the future.  After paying for it, I left the store.  And after a few other stops I headed home.

Once I was finished things at home I went on the outing I have been building too.  Now this is where the inspiration comes from. With the events from earlier still fresh on my mind, I decided why not go out wearing a recreation of the outfit the women from earlier was wearing.  It was also a first for me.  She was wearing a shirt that was a color I would have never thought to pair with the other pieces she was wearing.  Even to this day, I am still learning things as I go along on this fashion journey.  I have worn outfits similar to what she was wearing many times, but as best as I can recall, not with that color shirt.  And of course I had to use a different handbag.  Because as I said earlier I didn't have one like hers.  So here is the outfit that both her and I wore today!  I hope I did it as much justice as she did.

    the outfit
    1) peachy colored shirt
    2) grey and black plaid jacket
    3) black leggings
    4) chunky black ankle boots with strap and buckle detailing
    5) black crossbody bag

  2. I like seeing these articles that state men wearing heels is starting to catch on.  But all they show is pictures of male models on the runway wearing outfits and heels that can only be worn on the runway.  No man on the street would be caught dead in any of those heels or outfits, even if it was more socially acceptable.  Until we start seeing men in heels at places like home depot and starbucks for example, that statement for me will always be false!

  3. Got these today on a local buy and sell. They are black patent ASOS brand with a 4 1/2" heel. They are brand new. They have weird sizing however.  They are marked 8 on the bottom.   But the ad said that was equal to a US 10. I check their website and sure enough 8 and 41 is a US 10.  I still wasn't sure if they were going to fit though. So I tried to talk them down on the price. Lucky for me, the last shoes I bought from another company had the same weird sizing, And those fit perfectly!  So I was willing to take a chance if the price was right. I ended up paying only $25. As soon as I got home I tried them on and wouldn't you know it, a perfect fit!  And they are surprisingly comfortable too.

  4. Here are my latest. The brand is Boohoo. The heel measures close to 5 inches. And without a platform they feel high, just the way I like them. These are also the first ones I've seen with a triangle toe box. And there sizing is weird too. I am usually an eur40 which I believe is a 9. But these are marked 8/41, and yet they fit me perfectly!

  5. I was visiting Minneapolis this past week.  As a fan of Prince and his music, I decided to take the Paisley park tour. For those that don't know, it is basically a tour of the compound where he lived when he was not on the road.  It also featured 2 or 3 recording studios where he recorded some of his biggest hits and albums. It also had a small intimate club where he would hold concerts and after parties.  As a fellow musician the tour was worth every penny! And I will have memories that last a lifetime!

I got to see his famous "mad cat" guitar that he used on many of his albums, and also played at the rock and roll hall of fame.  I also saw pieces of paper with handwritten lyrics and scribblings on them. Then we went into his main recording studio. Just to be standing on the same floor that many artists performed and recorded was something else!  I was not aware of how many artists had recorded material in his studio.  The fine young cannibals recorded their entire album the raw and the cooked there.  R.E.M mixed their album out of time there.  And countless others did the same. As a fellow musician that was pretty cool!  And now for the icing on the cake.

They led us into another dark room, and as soon as they turned on the lights there they were.  Over 300 pairs of prince's prized shoes in all their glory!   And in every color of the rainbow to boot!  If there was one thing Prince liked as much as his music it was fashion and shoes.  I always knew that Prince wore heels. But usually when you see him in pictures you can't see the entire shoe, or the heel for that matter.  But after seeing them, I can tell you all that his shoes genuinely qualify as actual heels.  Most of his shoes were usually custom made by one designer. They all had cone heels that looked to be in the 3" or so range. He had a shoe collection that most women would envy.  It's too bad we were not able to get pictures on that part of the tour.  But you put music and high heels together, and that's like putting porno in front of this guy lol

But he also had a body that most women would envy as well.  I was told all his shoes were size 6. And his waist fell anywhere between 24 and 27".

All I can say is, what a tour!  If you are in the area definitely check it out. The shoe exhibit has been running all summer so I'm not sure how much longer it will be there.  Here is a couple of samples.

  6. Here is a photo of my latest.  they are from Jessica Simpson.  The model is "Liesa", and they are somewhat slouchy.  I believe they are my first pair of over the knee boots.  Even better than the look and fit, was the price.  I was browsing the sale racks at DSW.  These were originally $100.  But they were on clearance for 60% off.  $40 is already a great price.  But when I got to the register, they signed me up with my email, as a result I got and additional 20% off.  So all told I paid just over $30 for a $100 pair of boots.  Not Bad!

  7. I was just in a nordstrom the other day.  And I tried on a pair of nude Steve maddens.  And i believe they might have been the daises.  They were the display model, and i could not find a size on them anywhere.  But I have gotten good at sizing shoes just by looking at them.  I knew they would probably fit.  i tried them on, and they fit perfectly!  And just like others said, they were very comfortable!  It actually felt like i wasn't wearing heels at all!  Sadly, I didn't buy them however.

  8. Here are a few of my latest purchases.   I really need to do another inventory count. Last time I did an inventory count a few years ago I had about 85 pairs of heels between my shoes and boots.  Even after getting rid of a few pairs here and there since I bet you I am still closing in on, or have exceeded the 100 mark. I always knew I was a shoe whore lol

Here is a model that is riding the cusp of sandalism or not. Maison Ernest puts this in with the sandals on their website, but does not actually call it a sandal. To me, it looks like an open toed pump from the outside, but a sandal from the inside. Kinda cool! Model name is Plaisir. It comes in both 10 and 12 cm flavors.

I like these alot no matter what people choose to call them.  They are pricey though.

  10. I was browsing the local online buy and sells this weekend.  And i came across the ultimate shoe haul!  4 pairs of shoes and a pair of boots.  And the best part is I got all 5 pairs for 35 bucks!  And the seller even threw in some clear storage containers to boot!  After getting them home and trying them all on, I am not sure if I will be keeping them all.  I absolutely love the two tone brown boots from Aldo.  And they are in mint condition!  I also love the black caged heels from Guess.  They are in great condition too except for some wear on the bottom.  The other 3 I am on the fence about.  They are not exactly what I pictured from the photos but I will probably end up keeping them.

It's nice that High Heels were mentioned.  But unfortunately there vision of High Heels is not my vision.  And I'm pretty sure I'm speaking for a lot of others here as well. They are referencing high heels made specifically for men. These are big and clunky. And to me they are not that great looking either.  I love wearing heels and I would not be caught dead in those!

$5 to $10 a pair ain't expensive, that's a steal. It might even teach you how to prioritize if you limit yourself to like 4 to 5 pairs.

Yes they are cheap per pair. But when shoes are a weakness how do you limit yourself to 4 or 5 pairs. $150 for me is a lot to spend all at once.

  13. I was browsing one of the local thrift stores today.  And when I got to the shoe section I came upon this.  14 paris of mint condition high heels in every style and colour of the rainbow.  They were all Shoedazzle brand, and all the same size.  So they were obviously previously owned by the same person.  and the previous owner definitely had an addiction to shoes!  I think they were displayed like trophies more than they were worn.  Because as I said, they were all mint coindiotion! I was like a kid in a candy store!  I usually wear anywhere from a size 9 to a size 10 when it comes to my heels.  These were all a size 9, so I was hopeful!  And then the letdown.  I tried on a few pairs and they all fit the same.  And unfortunately they were all about a half size too small.  As letdown as I was there was actually a silver lining.  At 5 to 10 dollars a pair that would have been one costly purchase, because I definitely would have bought them all!

  14. Here are my latest.  They are Just Fab.  They have a 4 1/2" heel.  I found these in a thrift store, and they appeared to have been worn only once or twice.  And they are super comfortable.  And once I got them home and cleaned them up, the are basically mint condition!  And the best part is I got them for less than 10 bucks!
