  1. I had an interesting encounter today. Now let me start by saying I was not on a planned outing today. And I was not dressed in any form of female attire, including heels. Today, we had some unseasonably warm weather for September. So I was dressed in shorts, T-shirt, and sandals, very casual. I was out just running a few errands and hitting some of my favorite stores for some window shopping. I was at one of my usual thrift stores that I hit. And that's where the encounter happened. I usually don't have much luck there. But today, I actually found something worth purchasing. As the lady was ringing up my purchase, she said, "i'm surprised you actually found something today. Usually, you come in here, and you don't buy anything." Then she said, "And I barely recognized you today. You're usually in tight jeans and heels. You're dressed so casual today." I told her the weather was really nice today. And she said, "Yeah, we need to enjoy it while we can." Then I finished paying for my purchase and left. Now I have seen her in the store before, and she may have even rang me up a time or two. But as far as I can remember, this is the first time we have had any meaningful interaction. So as much as we say on here that most people don't seem to care or take notice of us. In some cases, I guess the opposite is true. Food for thought.
  2. I haven't posted here in a good while, so I figured an update was in order. I'm still getting out. I just don't feel the need to post every single outing these days. Unless something newsworthy happens, which isn't often, I just go about my day. I am still buying shoes also. So i figured it was time to do another inventory check. It would also give me a chance to go through and pair down my collection by selling shoes that no longer fit or that I'm not too fond of anymore. And donate shoes that are a little worse for wear and not worth selling. I also wanted to see how close I was on how many pairs I actually had. I was guesstimating that between shoes and boots. I probably had around 100 pairs. A bit of my collection is stored in their original boxes. But the majority of my collection is stored in cardboard boxes and tubs. I would love to have proper shelves to display them or a closet of some kind, but that is just not possible. Between boxes and tubs, I currently have about 7 of them. And now the fun begins. It was fun going through everything and trying stuff on. I even discovered stuff I never new I had. And stuff that has never seen the outside world. Because alot of my shoes are a little too fancy to wear out doing everday task and errands. They need a special occasion to wear them. When it was all said and done, I ended up with about a dozen pairs that would be sold or donated. And my guesstimate was actually pretty close. I came in just a shade under the century mark, including the get rid of pile. So here is the numbers of where my collection stands after pairing it down. Shoes 57 pairs Knee boots or higher 5 pairs ankle boots or shoes 14 pairs Wedges 4 pairs Flats 2 pairs For a total of 82 pairs
  3. Definitely not my cup of tea
  4. There are many version of Artificial Intelligence begining to appear on cell phones. They can basically do just about anything for you now. For those with an Andriod phone, Gemini is the new thing. There is even commercials for it now. In the latest commercial, a girl snaps a photo of her outfit. Then she asks gemini, "what makeup look would go good with this outfit?" And Gemini responds, "A cat eye would work well", or something to that effect. So I started thinking about how it could work with heels? I have not used it for an actual outfit I have worn out yet. But I did test it out. And based on the results I think it could be very useful for us. It's like having your own personal stylist in your pocket. I tried it 2 different ways. First I tried it with a picture of me wearing just a normal pair of white jeans and a black t-shirt. I asked Gemini, "What kind of heels should I wear with this outfit?". I was suprised how good the results were. And how many different choices it gave me. Then I tried it the opposite way. I gave it a picture of a pair of Fushia snakeskin textured heels, instead of just a plain old black pair. I tried to make it difficult for Gemini, but to no avail. I asked Gemini, "What oufit would go well with these heels?". It knew the colour and that the shoes were snakeskin textured, to boot! And again, it returned plenty of outfit options. All different styles and colours. Everthing from a black dress, to a pair of dark skinny jeans with a neutral coloured top. It made a believer out of me, and I'm sold! Can't wait to try it out and get suggestions on an actual outfit that I will wear out. And it will also be useful out shopping. Imaging taking a picture of a pair of heels, or a piece of clothing you are thinking of buying, and instantly getting feedback and outfit suggestions. It will be like having your own personal shopper in your pocket. Has anyone else tried it yet? If you haven't, I suggest you do. Here are some screenshots of my attempt with the fushia heels.
  5. Blue is my favorite colour @mlroseplant You nailed it!
  6. Interesting. I like it! Might just have to add something like that to my want list.
  7. I am in the same boat. I have not counted lately, I really should, but 100 pairs seems in the ball park. And with limited opportunties to wear them, I am sure pretty sure I have plenty of shoes that have yet to see the light of day.
  8. I got these the other day in a thrift store for less than $20. The brand is Aldo. And the heel is 4.5". The colour is a fine, almost tweed like grey. It reminds me of the snow that you use to get on your TV. They are very roomy and comfortable, but not loose.
  9. I did not pull the trigger for a few reasons. The ad was not a local ad. Shiiping would have been involved, provided the seller was even willing to ship. I just happened to be searching for something else, and they popped up. Plus, once I found out their price new on Amazon, I realized the seller was asking way too much for hers.
  10. You and the outfit look fine. I like you, try to find new ways to pose. I am not a good picture taker, so I look for any help I can get. I have seen may picture of women with the cross foot pose.
  11. The boots are not my cup of tea. But if it helps are cause, so much the better.
  12. I was browsing some online buy and sells, and I came across an ad for someone selling 4 pairs of this brand. They were all the same shoe, but just in diffent colors and patterns. I immediately fell in love with them. And this is exactly what I think of when someone says high heels. They have that "classic" stilleto look. And they are what I would call one sexy shoe! I did some research and realized they are sold on Amazon. They run around 60 to 80 dollars canadian money, which seems reasonable depending on the quality. They say they have a near 5 inch heel. And they come in a variety of colors and patterns. Here is a few pictures of the ones from the ad I saw. And also a link to them on Amazon. I especially like the purple snakeskin ones she was selling. So does anyone have experience with this brand? 13. Me either. I discovered this by accident. But now that I have, it is virtually impossible to go back to playing without heels.
  14. I think we all experience this at some point, me included. There are definitely times when I forget that I am wearing heels until someone else mentions something to me.
  15. I am the opposite of most. I have been wearing glasses pretty much since day 1. And it always looks weird when I see myself without them.
  16. Today I scored a thrift store nude two fer. The first pair is Aldo. The heel measures 4 and a 1/2 inches. They have some discoloration in spots, but still very usable. They have a finish on them that I haven't seen before. It is a combination of flat, suede, and patent all at the same time. And in certain lighting, they almost look like a two tone nude. The second pair is from Jessica Simpson. They are open toed with a bow like detailing across the toes. The heel measures 4 and a 1/2 inches.
  17. I know most of us wear heels because we like the way they look on our feet, or we like the added height, or whatever other reason we choose to wear them. I fall into most of those categories myself. But the other day I found a practical use for them, too. I am a musician who plays a variety of instruments. I Have an electric drum kit that I have begun playing and learning on. I am getting better. But I find that after using the kick drum pedal for a while, my right foot and ankle becomes tired and tight. It is probably because the ball of your foot starts in an slightly upward postion. And it is above your ankle when it is resting on the pedal. And your foot is going through a full up and down motion for minutes at a time. And your ankle is basically acting as a pivot point. But the other day, I happened to be wearing a pair of heels, and I suddenly got the urge to jump on the kit. And since I was still wearing the heels, I figured why the hell not?! So I began playing with the heels on. I noticed as I got started that my foot already felt better. And after a few songs my foot still felt great! It felt just like it did when I started. I was able to play that much more in the heels, as apposed to not wearing them. And my foot and ankle did not get tight or tired one bit! It was definitely because of the heels. I noticed that when I had my heels on, my right foot was in a level, or slightly downward position when it was resting on the pedal. And the ball of my foot was starting level with, or below the ankle with heels on. So the range of motion of my foot was essentially cut in half. Who knew?! And the same can also be said for your opposite foot when you use the hi-hat pedal with heels on.
  18. Taking a cue from some of the others here I have decided to start a thread to document all of my journeys in heels. So here goes. Today I had some errands to run so I decide to wear my heeled boots which is so normal now I don't even have to think about it. But I wanted to push the envelope a little further today. I had recently purchased a pair of womens dress pants and a nice ladies long sleeve dress top which I thought would look good paired with my heels. And I was right(pics to follow). The only thing out of place was my coat which was plain and unstylish. It did not match the rest of the outfit at all. That was one of the things I was looking for today on my journeys. I really like the look of some of the womens leather/faux leather coats. The kind that hit just between the hips and knees in terms of length and usually have a belted waist of some kind. I hit up one of the local thrift shops and found what I wanted. It fit me well. It was missing a button but for $7 I didn't care. And I can probably get one put on for cheap anyhow. I was a little more nervous out and about today as I wasn't just wearing my heels which I usually just wear with jeans. But I must say the day went off without a hitch. Anyhow, here are some pics of my new coat and the outfit I wore. The first picture is sorta the kind of coat I was looking for. The second picture is me with my outfit on as well as the coat. And the third pic is of the outfit minus the coat so you can see what the ladies top looks like. My pics are kinda dark but they were the best ones to turn out as i was in a rush to take some pics. Enjoy!
