The High Heeled Ruminations Of Melrose Plant
pebblesf replied to mlroseplant's topic in For the guys
Well yes, it all began for me when I was just a kid and totally mesmerized by my sister's red go go boots! Couldn't wait to be left home alone so I could wear them. Would still like to find a pair in white or red! -

For sure! For me, it was a gradual process I guess. Always loved cowboy boots, then progressed to higher heeled cowboy boots. Then I looked for higher heeled "cowgirl" boots. I'm trying to remember the first time I actually ordered boots with stiletto style heels, I think they were Pleasers. The progression to wearing high heel boots in public was a slow gradual process as well. So much regret wasting so many years of enjoyment due to self doubt, and lack of confidence... -
So sorry you didn't have these great boots for your trip! You would have enjoyed many miles of fashionable/comfortable walking trips for sure

Well, I would like to think that I "finally came out OK". Unfortunately, I wasted so many of my younger years with self loathing/doubt/insecurity. One of the only advantages of advanced age is that I finally "don't give a crap" about what others think, for the most part. I think I look good in my boots, which is the most important thing....

Yes, I'm sure immature teen age boys will always be an issue. What an awful age... Wish I could repeat my teenage years, and do it right...

Good for you! Yes, I remember hearing a few school age girls giggling while riding the escalator behind me as well. I try to remember that most negative reactions come from guys who are secretly frustrated, fearful of exploring a hidden fascination with heels. I had to remember the old saying "never let them see you sweat" in order to get through some unpleasant encounters. I just try to remember all the positive comments I have received over the years, oftentimes from guys.

So cool! -
Well, I understand that shoemakers vary an advertised heel height slightly depending on shoe size. I guess what I am saying is that for an actual heel height, having larger feet can make it easier because the angle between your heel and toes is less...

Same here, usually between 10-11 in boots. I do have one pair of 5" booties that do fit and feel comfortable walking in though. My nine west black ankle boots, feels so good to be able to handle them well...
-
I like single soles also. 5" is your norm, that is so cool. What size shoe do you wear? I still feel that men with larger feet have an easier time with taller heels because the angle of your foot from heel to toe is less than someone with a smaller foot

I hear ya.... I usually come up with snappy replies about four hours after the encounter..

OK, well I wouldn't try to engage with him for sure, unless he seems to be following you or confronts you with comments. It's hard to know just how his seemingly negative comments should be interpreted. Do you feel like he is going out of his way to find you in the store? Many men are very frustrated, outwardly negative and critical. But who knows what their true feelings are, they probably don't realize it either. Perhaps just super frustrated because others such as yourself have the courage to wear cool gear that he can only secretly fantasize about wearing....

So true. 4.5" heels seems to be my comfort zone also when it comes to walking at a relatively normal rate and being comfortable.
-
I hear you for sure! I know I am feeling totally comfortable/confident when I "almost forget" I am wearing boots

my eyes got messed up early on, seems that "lazy eye correction" as a kid did more harm than good. I had cataract surgery, that was a waste... I think I got the wrong lenses. I have trouble focusing, especially when driving. So frustrating -
I am so envious of your great relationship, it is great that the wife appreciates how nice you look in heels and you can enjoy them together in public!
-
Yeah, I don't get it either... I know I usually get rid of my jeans when they start to rip, very annoying.... This is just another fad that people pay alot for, that will fade with time..

My favorite Sam Edelman boots suffered the same failure, as did the Nine west stiletto ankle boots I loved... So sorry -

Most states do require some sort of inspection every few years.... -

Working on an old car can be a great bonding experience as well. My buddy managed to connect my old Camaro with a telephone poll so many years ago, just after I had ordered and received a new long block for it. We spent most nights in his garage pulling the front of that car off so the subframe could be straightened, and we could find used body parts to put it back together. Became best buds sharing this project together for sure. It's great to hear about young guys doing something other than the usual phone stuff these days, especially sharing a project like the Olds with a friend. "Free time" is surely not a friend to most youngsters, they usually find "unproductive" ways to fill it. I know I sure did! So, having a project like this is a great learning experience, and will make owning and driving the Olds even more special. Plus, the guys are hanging out at home, so less worries about what trouble they might find while "out and about". I know they will have many great memories taking road trips in that great old beast of a car. -

Sounds normal and expected to get the Olds running reliably again. He will learn alot for sure. We all went through it when we were younger, "the curse of youth"... Good lessons learned one at a time. Just hoping he isn't planning to use the Olds as a "daily driver"... The gas will kill him, and it will rust quickly in the winter... -

Land yachts for sure, but relatively easy to drive, good visability, and comfortable for long trips, provided there are plenty of fuel stations along the way -

So cool! Always loved full sized Olds, and this four door body style looks great as well. Sure, will suck down the fuel, but I'm sure he will only use it for special occasions. I hope there is a nice dry place inside to house this behemoth, so the rust won't consume it.... Wish I had my 73 Chevy back... -
So cool, love all the compliments!

How is it you are so sure your coworker did not notice your clogs? Perhaps he was just being polite, intrigued, but trying hard not to be obvious about it...
