  1. Hi everybody as far as high heel shoes bieng unisex why do they have to be classified at all, the other day in a shoe section of a dept store

so why dosen't the shoe retail world stop catorgising shoes and just have the shoes ( and the clothes) there in one store for people to try and buy at their own will ( yes this would be my wish but would not suit the majority of the world, lets be honest )

    \ cheers malinheels

This comment reminds me of something that happened in my friend's shop a while ago. She owned an independent shoe shop in our main town, and had a number of men come in for high heels on a regular basis - including one guy who was simply wonderful at walking in stiletto heels....he used to glide across the floor as though he'd been born in them.

Anyway, I was in there one Saturday late afternoon, trying on a gorgeous pair of White, 5" strappy mules. He was also there, trying on the same heels, (with bare feet...and wild neon pink toenails....), and we were comparing notes about them as we walked around the shop.

A young girl walked into the shop.....she was wearing a boiler suit, a 'day-glo' yellow workman's safety jacket...and 'Doc Martin's' boots.

She took one look at this guy trying on the mules....screwed her face up in disgust...and walked right back out of the shop again!!

As my Auntie used to say...."There's now't so queer as folks"...!!:)

  2. 704 B IS the company Name!

    Lots of them on eBay.

OK..OK. No need to get tetchy. I'm in the UK, and have never heard of them Thank You Very Much.

I'll take a look now.....I presume you mean EBay US? There are more than 7 main EBay sites......

  3. I used to spend an awful lot of my day in high heels when I was younger.I worked in them, and wore them out to play as well.....dinner-parties, parties, concerts etc. I often fell asleep in my heels too, so yes, for quite some time I spent almost 24 hours a day in high heels.

Age, common sense and pain have stopped all that now............

  4. I just picked up a pair of shoes from this company at DSW. Nice black leather upper and sole, 5" heel and marked down from $200 to $50. I just can't seem to find any info on this company other than it is Canadian based. Anyone have any info on this company?

Umm....precisely what Company are you talking about at DSW? All you say is 'this Company'...???!!!

  5. Hey folks,

First off, been lurking on HHPlace for while now, never really sure how to take that initial step to say hello. I'm kinda shy at the best of times... But now I need some help, so Im forced into saying hello. So... Hello...

I was going to post this in the Heels Wanted thread but I dont seem to have access, so Im posting here. Hopefully thats not a problem.

A while back I saw some ridiculous boots in River Island, but I've never had the balls to go heel shopping anywhere but online where I can stay fairly anonymous. I've been trying to track them down online for a while and the best I've been able to do was finding them (about 5 sizes too small  ) on eBay. Wondering has anyone seen them anywhere else? The link for the, now expired, eBay auction is

    http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/RIVER-ISLAND-grey-brown-SUEDE-THIGH-BOOTS-5-new-150_W0QQitemZ150434331193QQcmdZViewItemQQssPageNameZRSS:B:SILF:SG:101

    Anyone able to help?

It's a shame that the photos don't show on the Ebay link anymore.

I can offer a suggestion or two. You can try to find out when these were in stock in the River Island stores....and what they were called. Contact your local River Island and see if they can find any old stocks, either in other stores, or in central warehousing. River Island are one of the most customer friendly of the High Street retail chains and you may be lucky as you'll be looking for a large size.

The other alternative is to keep looking on EBay and hope that they come up in your size.

The third alternative is to look online at Thighboot shops. If you were intending to pay upwards of £150.00 on Ebay you might as well look at Custom Made new boots. I have a whole load of links if you want to send me a Private Message.

Hello and welcome. I'm afraid eBay is probably going to be your best bet, I think I remember seeing those in the Winter collection so they're unlikely to be back at River Island.

Next time I'd just buy them in the shop,

It is if you're an experienced heel wearing male, but not if you're new to all this. It can be a very daunting experience for a 'newbie', and so I have to disagree that "it's easier than you think" in the context of actually summoning up the courage to walk into the shop and choose ladies boots for yourself....as a guy.

Believe me, I know plenty of heel-wearing men...and plenty of cross-dressers, many of whom STILL get nervous and worried about going into women's shops, despite the fact that an awful lot of the staff these days are very chilled out and helpful. Their biggest fears are the looks and possible comments from other shoppers...not the staff.

My best advice would be to take a friend with you, female if you can, who can offer you some support and also an objective eye on your selection. If this isn't possible, then you simply have to wait until the time is right for you. There's no easy way of doing this.....but I'm told, it IS like riding a bicycle. Once you've done it a few times...it gets less traumatic as your confidence builds up.

I wish you all the very best....and like I said, if you want the links to Thighboot shops online - just 'PM' me.

  6. There are plenty of reasons why women are nervous about wearing heels, and wearing them in public. One of the foremost has already been mentioned here, and that is comfort. Lots of women still only wear heels on 'special' occasions and so are not used to high heels on shoes - by high, I mean over 3" or 3.5". Wearing heels everyday is for young girls, not mature women.

Another is the impression that it gives others. Plenty of women still believe that high heels are 'cheap'...and reflect on their moral standing. This is especially prevalant in more senior members of the fairer sex, who grew up in an age when high heels were worn by 'streetwalkers', not ladies with class.

Of course, this is one of the reasons why young girls LOVE high heels, they are attractive to men.....so, after choosing them for themselves, they wear them for this purpose above anything else.

Then of course there is the practicality and safety issue....high heels are noriously tricky things on badly made pavements and streets, and not too clever in bad or snowy weather either. They are also not the best things to be wearing if you need to run for a bus or a train...and they are not too clever on escalators either. There are also plenty of women who refuse to drive in high heels as well.

However, the overwhelming reason why a large number of women are nervous about very high heels in public is........ of course.......what other women - and men - think, and the unwanted attention that high heels can generate in bystanders.

  7. Good lord, I wish I had such good luck in charity shops.

I had to trawl Ebay to find my leopard Springolators and it took me ages to find a cobbler who'd touch them for re-heeling.

I've got fresh tips on them and they've had some shoe glue in a few needed spots and are ready for an outing.

I agree that it's a bit of a pain trying to find prints that, whilst not matching, will at least compliment eachother. I've got a habit of buying anything with a hint of exotica to it, and am a vegetarian's nightmare I'm afraid.

Pussyinboots, are your leopard Springolators dyed ponyskin? The actual pattern looks remarkably similar to mine, but it seems there's more going on at the front on yours than mine. I'd be interested to see the fronts too, if you have photos. They look fab on you

Love your leopard springolators pussinboots. Just wanted to say I have ordered from brazilianorchid a couple of times and have been really happy with the heels I got. Bernardos shoes have a couple of springolator styles,I bought the black Sprung .

those shoes are for some serious mind blowing publiuc exhibition. bless you my dear

^^^ Thank you all for your lovely comments. They really are gorgeous heels, and to be honest, the heel is a lot more pointed than the photographs actually show.

Cinnamon - I have yet to have mine re-tipped (as you can see), however, I have a very good local cobbler who is a Vintage heels fan too, so he very much enjoys working on my shoes. The material I believe is pony skin, you only have to smell the shoes to know that they are real hide...not imitation...and yes, the pattern is very close to the real thing walking around in the jungleI They are trimmed all around at the edges with black patent leather and the fronts have a small black bow - so I'll take some more photos so you can see......that is, when I can remember which box I put them in!!

Barbara - Brazilain Orchid are one of my absolute favourite heels suppliers. Erika Hosoiri makes such beautiful designs, and the standard of her craftsmen's work is superb. Her thong mules are gorgeous....and her lace-up Roman strappies are simply divine. I am so pleased that you are happy with yours.

MRRIOSO - These heels will be worn out with love and pride once the little repairs have been done. They are so comfortable.....and they make that sexy 'slip-slap' sound that turns guys' heads at 200 yards!!:)

  8. I hope that she looks lovely, and I hope that the heels do not hurt her too much.

If the problem - as she says - is the steepness of the arch, then there is nothing that will help other than practice. However, plenty of women know their limits when it comes to high heels, and if her limit is 4" to be comfortable, then 4" it is.

She may wear higher heels to please you, or just for a change - but don't expect them to stay on for long....and don't hassle her either.

  9. Oh man talking about bad luck. First my ballet boots are plotting in the closet to kill me slowly and painfully, then Germany lost to Spain in the World Cup, then just today I got my 6 inch pumps.

There were great at first, until I lined them up on the table for a picture. What on earth! The heel for my right shoe is 1/8 of an inch shorter than my left heel!! My left shoe's heel measures exactly 6 inches by the way....

    Arghhh................

I was planning to pull the heel tap for my right shoe out a little (well 1/8 inch actually), then reinforce the space with some material. Is that possible??

Thanks, I just feel like ranting...

Do not....absolutely do not - do anything to them!! Contact the supplier....and get a replacement.

  10. either they love them or hate them. those who appreciate the aesthetic of a nice sexy shoe must love them. Latin women and orientals seem to have a deep liking for them. but, who knows. glad you got the eye for them pus. thx, Mr.

Well - these are the Springolator mules that I bought:

...and here is the link to the photo in the other Thread:

You CAN get nice Leopard print mules. 'Hollywood Heels' are a good place to look, as are 'Pleaser' - who make a pretty little 5" mule with a gold spike heel - and 'Frederick's of Hollywood' often carry high Leopard heels.

Of course, if you go to somewhere like 'La-Piazza' or '6InchHeelsForever' you can have them Custom Made, but they will be 6" heels.

I look on EBay a lot as well, especially EBay Germany (www.ebay.de) and EBay US....you can find a lot of Leopard heels on those two sites.

If you want a truly beautiful, feminine design....and a 4.5" spike heel - then look at 'Brazilain Orchid'. Erika Hosoiri will make her designs in Leopard print on request, and she has some divine styles of mules.

  11. I was walking down my local High Street yesterday afternoon, carrying my bits and pieces in a large, laminated cardboard 'Faith' bag, that they used for larger boot boxes....and a girl came up to me and asked me if I wanted to SELL her the bag!!!
  12. It was the term spring-o-lators in the title of this thread that caught my eye. I was probably no more that 6 or 7 when I first noticed them. The neighbor behind our house wore springolators exclusively and I was always enfatuated by the elastic band in the shoe that helped to keep them on her feet.

But what was more memorable to me was the slapping sound that the shoes made on the bottom of her feet as the elastic pulled the shoe back into place.

I remember one pair in particular. They were black patent with a gold metal tipped heel. One evening when my parents were throwing a party for the neighborhood, she wore them. As the evening wore on, and the adults were sitting around joking and having fun, she took one of the shoes off and pretended to use the heel of it as a weapon on one of the male guests.

The combination of her holding it in her hand and seeing her walking in them has made me a long time admirer of springolators.

Actually, the role of the elastic on Springolators was to add 'spring' to the inner sock under the arch of the foot...for comfort....not to hold the shoe on your foot. Helping keep the shoe on, was a side effect really.....and boy, they sure DO make a slapping sound....mine are wonderful and really turn heads!

  13. are there any woman or men who find the vintage 50s and 60s lingerie, spiked heels and hosiery more sexy than the styles of today?

Funnily enough - I have just posted a photograph of a pair of original 1950's Leopard Springolater mules, in the 'Charity Shops' Thread here. I bought them last year...and they are fabulous.
