What shoes are you wearing today?

I'm writing on my PC at the moment - so I'm wearing 'Charles Jourdan' 4.5" wedges around the house:

Later we will be entertaining friends for dinner - so I am thinking of wearing some original Vintage '70's strappy sandals from 'Faith/Solo:

Nice. Was the pink nail polish intentional with these pair of shoes? Makes a great touch. How is the stability when you're wearing the wedges? Between the shoe having what one might term a "short wheelbase", and it being (I guess) a mule (no support at the heel), it looks like you'd be paying attention to every step you take in them.

Thank you for your compliments...the pink nail polish is a favourite ('Ultra Pink' neon by 'La Femme') and I wear it a lot of the time.

As for the 'wheelbase'...you can see that the wedge mules are an exact fit for my feet - and although they can be a little wobbly on occasion - in the main they are lovely to walk in.

The same can't be said for the 'Faith' sandals however, they are very 'bendy' at the heels, so generally they are kept for special occasions as they are delightfully feminine shoes.

Pussyinboots:-) The vintage sandals seem a bit large for your foot and the fit shows where your heel sits below the heel of the shoe. Maybe that is why they seem a bit unstable. They should fit more like your wedges do. The toe part of the sandals seem to fit o.k. and looks good on you. Cheers--- Dawn HH

You're right Dawn! I take a UK 4.5 or 5...these are 5.5 so just a little long in the foot...but they were too delicious to turn down!

Greetings jwhite44 :-)

... They are an older model dating a few years back...

Apparently still available: http://www.myspringshoes.com/ca-eng/clearance/women/boots/62901082-edessia/96

I wonder, were chunky heels more "in" a few years ago. These, and the Ruth shoes that k6ps have, are the type of shoes I'd like to get. I haven't had much luck finding any (I'm sure my sz 13 foot doesn't help :cry1: ).

You are right. They are still available but only in size 38 and 41.

Even if chunky heels were more "in" a few years back, I still like the style.

They still look good and are very comfortable.

And we won't be noticed at all wearing them everywhere

I agree with you. Finding nice shoes and boots in size 13 must be very hard...

I haven't seen the Ruth shoes being sold anywhere. I got mine from e-bay. Have you considered having your favorite shoes custom-made? I'm currently seriously considering that...

Oh boy, what a day that was..

I've been doing long days, lots of walking on various floors and pavements, and dancing on 4-inchers before, but not THAT long and ALL THAT at the SAME DAY. Although my heels are very comfortable, i felt relief for the first time in my life when i finally took them off in the early hours of today.

And by the way, the classical dances are not as easy to handle on 4 inches than latino dances. I mean when you are the one who leads, and the other one is on 4 inches too.

On flat red chuck taylors today :cry1:

  • 11 months later...

Just got in from an afternoon and evening in Atlantic City with my sister.

Walked around 2 casinos, the Pier Shops, which is a mall jutting out into the ocean, then the boardwalk for a bit.

Then we had dinner at a buffet.

All day in my Diba Lace Up Knee Boots with 4" block heels.

FLAT SHOES, LIKE FLAT DRINKS, ARE FOR FLAT PEOPLE

Yesterday I got the rare opportunity to be home alone. Even though my family are accepting I seldom wear my heels when everyone is home.

I wore my highest heels (5 inch slingbacks) and walked around the house for a couple minutes to practice. After about 30-40 minutes my feet started to hurt (I think the shoes are a little tight for me, they need to be about 5mm wider).

So at this time I changed to these heels:

....which are 5 inch with a 1 inch platform and super comfortable! Wore them for a few hours until I went to my older sister's place because it was her birthday.

A good day indeed
