Shafted Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 Hi kneehighs, I didn't wear them to church, but to a church related function. I still hold fast to my rule of not wearing them to church. In my opinion, it just isn't the place to be the center of attention. I wore ankle boots that day, so no I didn't have my pant tucked into them, but since I don't wear my pants long to cover the heels, they were plainly visible. The only clergy in attendance was a sister who is the pastorial associate. I'm looking forward to street heeling in Italy as well. On another note, while working at the theatre tonight, I had a woman in the concession line take note of my boots (Pleaser 8890 thightboots with 4 inch stiletto heels), and a short conversation ensued as follows. Her: Nice boots! Me: Thank you, I just got them. I like to make sure people are awake. Her: Those will do it? After finishing to fill her order, I got a big smile and a thank you. Dawn HH Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Smiffy:-) Welcome to the Forum. I also think that Shafted looks great in his thighboots. Cool outfit. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
smiffy Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Wow.. you guys know what you are talking about... if my new Pleaser Legend 8890's are anything to go by! They arrived yesterday and because my wife is away I could slip them straight on.. what a buzz! After walking around the house I then went for a drive but couldn't quite muster up the courage to get out of the car although I did keep them on when I got home to get into the house. What a feeling and lovely clicking noise of my heels on the pavement. I think these are the boots that will get me wearing outside for all to enjoy and not just me.
Shafted Posted February 17, 2006 Author Posted February 17, 2006 smiffy, You've already taken a big step to wearing them freely in public. It's all about confidence. If you appear outward comfortable, nobody is going to give you any grief. As for that wife of yours, she could be your biggest opponent or your greatest ally. Keeping secrets is never a good thing. Shafted Posted March 12, 2006 Author Posted March 12, 2006 Well, just thought I'd share some of my latest adventures while wearing my Pleaser 8890 thighboots to the theatre. I brought a pair of low heeled thighboots in with me as I knew I would be doing the marquis that night. People pretty much accept me and my heeling outside of my day job, so when I not working at my day job I'm pretty much in heels all the time. Anyway, that night after everyone had settled into the auditorium and the movie started, I got ready to change the marquis. I changed out of the 4 inch stiletto thighboot and into the low heeled pair. It was this point where my boss wanted to try the 8890's on. When she did she was amazed at how comfortable and easy to walk in they were. She loved them, and insisted I had lost them for good. All this coming from a woman that doesn't wear heels. Shafted Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 Well here's an update to let you all know how things went in Italy. One thing to keep in mind was that I was in a group totalling 29 people. Only 4 of us were male. It was also a church related pilgramage to Catholics cathedrals and bascilicas as well as the Vatican. I only packed one pair of boots, a pair of 2 inch cuban heeled boots. What I wore almost exclusively were my 3.5 inch stiletto Two Lips boots (a personal favorite). I really honestly expected more resistance from a church group about my boots, but in all honestly most everyone was pretty cool with it. The first day of the trip took us to Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis. As our hotel was within the walls of this hilltop medieval city, most of the walking was up and down steep grades of cobblestones. This was the first clue to many in the group that I was unusually skilled in stilettos, and began recieving the usual questions like: Don't those hurt your feet? How can you walk in those? And the usual comments like: You'll be sorry in the morning. You walk better in those than any woman I've ever seen. My feet hurt just watching you. The next morning the same pair went back on my feet and after breakfast attended Sunday mass at The Basilica of St. Francis. My feet were feeling fine. The next stop on the trip was two nights in Florence with one side trip to Pisa. Once again the cities seemed to be paved almost entirely of cobblestones. It was in Florence when things began to click between me and four lovely ladies from the group all approximatly my age (two of them unmarried). The five of us went into Peruzzi Leather. I decided to paruse the shoe department upstairs while the ladies tried on leather jackets. Didn't see too much that I liked, until my eyes were caught by a pair of black suede boots with diagonal crossing straps and buckles at the ankles and about a 3 inch spike heel. I picked up the boot and examined the inner which appeared to be a powder blue heavyweight linen. I then flipped the boot over and imbossed in the sole was the name Versace with a sticker that said 50% off. I immediately asked the guy working there if he had them in a 42. He said he'd check. After a few minutes he came back with 40's saying it was the largest he has and that they wouldn't be getting anymore. I tried them on but to no avail, I couldn't get my feet into them. I was crushed. I thanked him and went back downstairs with the ladies. They were still trying on jackets, and I must say they were looking dynamite in them. These jackets were beautiful and very figure flattering with all the seaming in the right place. I helped them with their decisions by giving them the male point of view. And to my surprise 3 of the 4 bought the ones I liked. The whole time the owner of the store had been busy with the girls and with his task with them nearly at an end turned to me and said, "I have something for you." He took me into another room and had me try on a red leather jacket that he referred to as a Ferarri jacket, explaining that he sold many of them to red Ferarri owners. I really like the jacket, but when I looked in the mirror I realized red was not doing my complection and favors. He had me try the same jacket in black and I absolutely loved it. The leather was so incredibly soft and supple it hung properly on me even when I sat down. This is something I can't say about other leather jackets I've owned, even my formally favorite leather blazer. The sleeves were way to long though. I looked down and saw the price tag and gasped. It was 650 euros. Don't worry", he said," for you 50% off" and we'll tailor it for you, monogram the inside in 24K gold and have it delived to your hotel. SOLD! I'm in love with Florentine leather, it's truly amazing stuff. After our stay in Florence it was off to Rome, a city which I absolutely love. After our evening meal on the first night in Rome, one of the girls and I went for a walk around the neighborhood looking for a cafe that served grappa. We found a lovely little sidewalk cafe on Via Giuseppe Gioacchino Belli just a short walk from our hotel on Via Cicerone. We parked ourselves at a small sidewalk table and ordered our grappa. Apparently, it wasn't too busy and a couple of waiters and a waitress came out and shot the breeze with us. The waitress was a really cute young woman from Romania who spoke 5 languages. I know my table partner was thinking the same thing about one of the waiters. The next morning it was off to St. Peters Square at the Vatican for the Papel audience. I got to see Pope Benedict 16th within about 10ft. when he went by me in the popemobile. That afternoon was spent in the Vatican Museums, The Sisteen Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. That evening after dinner, my grappa buddy and I convinced a couple of the other girls to come with us to the cafe we had found. This time we went inside as none of the outside tables were set. We all had a round of grappas. Afterwards we went outside and sat down and talked, and again the waiters and a different waitress came out as well. I recieved a rather puzzled look from the waitress who said something in Italian to one of the waiters. He relayed to me that she wanted to know why I was wearing high heeled boots to which I had him relay to her "Because I can." It was an eyebrow raising and smile inducing response for her. The next day involved a couple more major Basilicas in the morning. The afternoon was free for shopping and other sights. So the girls and I in my high heeled boots took off on foot for the other side of the Tiber river and we saw the Pantheon after which we headed for the Spanish steps via the high end shopping district of Via Borgognona with shops like Gucci, Dior and Prada just to name a few. It was here were I descreetly noticed many people snapping pics of the guy in stiletto boots with four attractive women around him. I felt like a rock star man. We then grabbed lunch on the same street a Caffe Greco est. 1760 a unique and cozy tea shop. afterwards we climbed the spanish steps which fortuitously were decked out from bottom to top with Azailias. After watching the street artists work we went back down and headed for our final stop Trevi Fountain. It was starting to rain so I bought an umbrella from a street vendor at the fountain for 5 euros. Which turned out to be a smart move because we walked all the way back to our hotel on the other side of the Tiber river in a total downpour. I chuckled when I realized that I was the only one that had dry feet after that rain. The next day the morning was spent at the Colosseum. That afternoon was spent doing some serious shopping. This time we went shopping on Via Cola di Riezo which is lined on both sides with small shops at least six which were strictly ladies shoes. After my loss with the Versace boots I desperately wanted a pair of boots to bring home. I guess I was in the right place at the wrong time because the only boots to be found were guady cowgirl boots. This is definitely not what I had in mind. I probably would have found something more to my taste during the fall season. Well that's it pretty much in a nutshell. Had a great time and would go back yet again if the opportunity arises. Who knows maybe one of those people snapping pictures of me has some influence in the fashion world and can now see how high heels on a man can be done right. Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted May 17, 2006 Author Posted May 17, 2006 Well, here's an update of happenings since I've been home from Italy. The first I kind of have to chuckle about. I was parked in my truck across the street from the theatre. This is something that I normally do in between my day job and my night job. Had my feet up on the window sill of my truck with the seat reclined just relaxing, when this kid walked by and looked at me, never saying a word. A few moments later a friend of his picked him up in a beat up car and as he was speeding away came the words, "Nice boots, homo!" (now that takes courage doesn't it? ). Well I wasn't about to let this kid who was dressed like he got his wardrobe out of a local dumpster get to me. About an hour later as I was preparing to cross the intersection this same car pulls up with this punk kid in it while having to wait for traffic. I looked directly at him and he looked back at me, and I could tell by the look on his face that he though he might get the crap beaten out of him right there on the spot. It was priceless. The moral of the story is anyone who shouts insults from a moving vehicle is a coward. Thought you guys might enjoy this one. BTW: I was wearing my black patent 3.5 inch stiletto ankle boots. On a lighter note tonight I recieved two compliments on my 5" stiletto Dragon knee boots, both from women. The first occurred in a favorite chinese resterant. As I was paying my bill, a new waitress asked me how high my heels were. I replyed 5 inches. She quickly passed the information on to another waitress, who had been apparently interested but was kind of shy about asking. She remarked that they look like they would hurt my feet. I told her I get that comment occasionally, but assured her they didn't. She elaborated that she could never wear anything like that to which I responded that they only take a bit of desire to wear and a lot of practice. The second occurred while I was working the concession at the theatre. A woman commented on my boots while I was getting her popcorn. She said, "I'm impressed how well you handle those boots with ease and they certainly are beautiful." I responded by saying that I learned on this height, but I do have higher. I told her, "I have a pair of 6.5 inch stilettos, but haven't quite mastered them yet due to my right ankle not being quite flexible enough." The moral here, casual interaction with people really loosens them up so that you don't need to fish for comments. Once people learn to relax around you they will bring up the subject of heels. The key is to be approachable and not aloof. TTFN! (ta ta for now) Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 Well time for another update! The first encounter happened while working a Friday night at the movie theatre while wearing 4 inch stiletto thightboots. Friday is typically the kids night as far as attendance goes. I was basically ushering this night. One teenaged boy approached me and asked, "Why are you wearing those boots?", to which I responded, "Because I can." (with a smile) This got me a smile in return, but not from that boy but from a rather attractive women who had apparently been listening to the exchange. As she walked by loaded up with popcorn and soda she flashed me a smile and said, "Good answer." After the movie was over and the people were exiting, one gentleman remarked that my boots create quite a stir. I responded, "Sometimes society needs a little stirring." Upon talking with the guy furthur, he said that he also has some low heeled thighboots that he purchased as part of theatre costuming. This past week the daughter of the theatre manager were talking and she imparted this conversation that she had with her friend. Apparently her friend had seen me working in the box office in my 5 inch stiletto kneehigh boots with the red embroidery. Friend: J______, Look at that guys boots. Daughter: Yeah? Friend: Don't you think he's wierd? Daughter: No. Once you get to know him, he's actually pretty cool. The other night I was wearing the same pair of Dragon boots when an old friend I used to work with came into the theatre. After he entered the lobby he could see my boots in all their glory. Him: Wow, those are awesome boots why do you wear those? Me: (remembering the spikes that utility pole worker wear for climbing poles) For climbing telephone poles of course. This response had him in absolute hysterics. It was great! The whole scene got the attention of a nearby woman. Him: I'm gonna have to tell my daughter about you in those boots. She'll love it. Woman: OMG, those are killer boots. Where did you get them? Me: (thinking for a moment) allsexyshoes.com. Woman: Those are beautiful, I don't know with what I would wear them though. These are only the most memorable encounters I have had in the last month. Positive responses are abounding, and negative ones are few and far between. Shafted, the boots that is! Dawn HH Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Shafted:-) What great answers from you. They made me chuckle. TEE! HEE! I'll have to remember those and maybe some day I'll be able to use them somewhere, sometime. Working in heels at the threatre among the public has caused you to become a good ambassador for the HH Board. Besides that---you are having a lot of great fun doing it. The way you relate your stories allows my mind to picture you doing those activities in full living color and steriophonic sound. Congrats! Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Shafted Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 Thanks Dawn and kneehighs! I forgot to mention that I went to see "Kinky Boots" a few weeks ago wearing my Pleaser 8890 Legend 4 inch stiletto thigh boots. Approached the girl at the ticket counter and asked ,"Guess what movie I'm here to see? (taking a step back so she could see the boots) She responded "Kinky Boots, right?" While I was there I managed to reserve the poster for my collection. She may have thought it a gag or getting into the spirit. Won't she be surprised when I return to collect it in heels. I was the first one in the screening room and a few minutes later a couple came in and sat a few seats behind me. I had one leg propped on top of the other so at least one boot was clerarly visible, when from behind me came, "Oh wow, I love your boots!" Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 Last night while working at the movie theatre, I wound up working with the new girl. While she was aware of my thing for heels a minor event took place that my response to was to do a little tap dance in my stilettos. It was great she froze in awe at my ability to handle stiletto heels. She said that she has never seen anyone who can handle them as I can. I would consider that a tremendous compliment. As the movie was in progress and with no customers to deal with we got into a long conversation about heels. She asked me how high the heels I had on were to which I responded ,"3.5 inches". She then asked me how high my highest pair was to which I told her my 6.5 inch stiletto pumps with no platform. "I can walk in them now, but I'm still not very good at them. The highest I wear out are my 5 inch heels". When I told her the pumps had padlocking ankle straps she though that was so cool. The conversation continued as follows: Her: So what got you interested in heels. Me: I really don't know, but I see them as works of art for the feet. And men's shoes you can get in any color of the rainbow as long as it's black or brown. And any style as long as it's ugly. Her: I know what you mean. All in all she finds my footwear pretty cool. If only I were 20 years younger. Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 This week I had an interesting encounter while relaxing in my truck in between my day job and my job at the theatre. I was kicked back with my feet hanging out the drivers side window when I noticed a couple of teenaged girls ogling my boot. (the red embroidered Dragon boot with 5 inch stiletto heels. My response was to look back and wave. And this is what followed. Girl1: (from across the street) I like your boots. Me: Thanks. Girl1: Can we come over and get a closer look at them? Me: Sure. Girl1: Wow, those are really cool (running her finger over the embroidery). Me: Thanks again. Girl1: Are you a cop? Me: (rather surprised) No, what makes you say that? Girl1: I see you parked here all the time, you're and undercover cop aren't you? Me: No, I work two jobs and I'm relaxing before I start my second job across the street there at the movie theatre. Girl2: You're lying. Look, he has a laptop, he is a cop. What's that? (pointed to my corset which I had taken off earlier and folded and placed on top of my laptop case. Me: A corset. Girl2: Isn't that a women's thing. Me: No, some men wear them too. Girl1: To suck in the guts, right? Me: (pointing to her) You got it. Girl2: Are you gay? Me: No, why do you ask? Girl2: Are those women's boots? Me: They were until I got a hold of them. Girl2: Then why are you wewaring them. Me: (with a big smile) Because I can. Girl1: You are a cop. I know because of the antennas on you roof. Me: Okay, I'm a cop. Girl2: I knew you were lying. Me: How do you know I'm not lying now? Girl2: What's in there? (referring to the top compartment in my laptop case. Me: Well, here's the power supply and my ID badge for my day job. That was enough, seeing the badge convinced them I wasn't a cop. Just then a red pick-up pulled up. Girl1: Well, our boyfriends are here we gotta go. Me: Seeya. I'm sure they mentioned me and my quirky personal style to them, but they appeared unphased. They then took off. All little while later they drove by and Girl1 stuck her head out the window and hollered, "Great boots!" Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted July 4, 2006 Author Posted July 4, 2006 Disaster has struck. My favorite Two Lips stiletto boots, and most comfortable ones, have developed a crack in the heel block and it creaks with every step. I plan to see if my local cobbler can do anything for me, but I fear it may be beyond him. I know they're only shoes but it's like loosing a best friend. Well in leau of this event, I decided to treat myself. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/15854701/c/3/g/women/s/13/w/1.html What a steal! Shafted Posted July 4, 2006 Author Posted July 4, 2006 Thanks, nhoj62. I guess nothing last forever, and they served me well. Like any favorite they got worn alot, if they still made them I'd buy another pair in a second. They had been through one sole replacement and two heel tip replacements so I can't complain. If possible I'll get them fixed even if it exceeds the original cost of the boot. That's how much I loved them. Shafted, the boots that is! Shafted Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 Well I wore my new ankle strap pumps to the theatre Friday night. I wore them with a pair of sparkly white socks. That night the new girl was also working. When she saw them, her response was, "Those are so cool!" I then lifted up my pant leg exposing the padlocking ankle strap and immediately she say, "Those are awesome, and the socks are a nice touch." I said, "And the locks are not just for looks, they're real and I can't remove the shoes without unlocking them or destroying them. "No way!", she answered. One thing I found out is that comfort wise socks and pumps just do not mix, at least most of my socks as the seams are way to corse on the toes with the tighter fit of a pump. It was time to stop at a local drug store to pick up a couple of packages of No Nonsense Knee Highs. These will definitely be on my feet next time I wear the pumps, which will be tomorrow night. I'll be sure to get my coworker to take a couple of pics of me in them. Pumps are also way more comfortable to wear in hot weather, while still having a closed toe. Now my new Kimel Design Studio "List" boots have just arrived from Zappos. I got this $170 pair of boots from them for just $40. I took them out of the box and I was in love. This thing is a work of art in real leather and suede. Real leather soles as well and leather covered heel. This boot is going to require no break in whatsoever. They are incredibly supple right out of the box. They felt just as incredible on my feet. When I got up to walk it was like it had no heel at all. They felt perfectly flat. I was thinking to myself these can't be 3.25" as was advertized. So I got out a rule and measured them up coming up with 3.5 inches. So that's what high quality is all about, high heels that feel like flats. I've got three other pairs with 3.5 inch heels and you can feel the heel on them, but not on this pair. I noticed they were a little loose about the ankles so in tightening up the ankle straps I ran out of holes, no problem. Went and grabbed my leather punch and added half a dozen more to each boot strap (did something similar with my Pleaser 8890-Legends with the thigh straps) so now the ankles can be cinched up properly and make the boot look even better on my legs. Everyone who is onto shoes should have one of these handy tools. The one I have can punch 6 different size holes. I was also impressed that an extra set of heel tips were included in the box. I definitely recommend scarfing these babies up if you can, you won't be sorry. Now guess where these babies were made. China, go figure. There is some darn nice stuff coming out of that country now. Oh, what fun I'm going to have. Shafted, the boots that is!
