fashionablefun Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 A lot of Internet action on the personal essay of Pulitzer-prize-winning author Buzz Bissinger, who acknowledges in GQ a uncontrollable shopping addiction, spending astronomical amounts of money on fashion, particularly Gucci, particularly leather, including embracing his feminine side and buying 5 inch heel knee high boots. Interesting in part because he writes mostly about sports and authored "Friday Night Lights". A long story but a good read. Here's a quote: Some of the clothing is men's. Some is women's. I make no distinction. Men's fashion is catching up, with high-end retailers such as Gucci and Burberry and Versace finally honoring us. But women's fashion is still infinitely more interesting and has an unfair monopoly on feeling sexy, and if the clothing you wear makes you feel the way you want to feel, liberated and alive, then fucking wear it. http://www.gq.com/ne...?printable=true
AZShoeNut Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Nice! Life is short... Wear the bleeping shoes!
JeffB Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Beyond all that, Bissinger's a dyed in the wool nutcase. I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
gary0618 Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Perhaps he has made an impact on men's fashion: http://www.thedailyb...ls-for-men.html FLAT SHOES, LIKE FLAT DRINKS, ARE FOR FLAT PEOPLE

Curt Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 It seems like a fetish type of thing. More than just a love for fashion. Reality doesn't touch him because he has just too much money and can't make good use for it. No way would I buy something and not wear it, or buy something twice without knowing I bought it the first time. If I had one pair of louboutin boots with 6l heels and 2" plat, I wouldn't need any more. As long as he's not guilty about spending that much money. I have a friend who spent $8000 on a guitar and could hardly play and he is asking advise if he should buy it! I think he wants acceptance that he is doing the right thing. I tiold him its just my opinion, if you ask me, ill tell you what I think! But otherwise, its none of my business. Just like its none of his business what I spend a month on heels. Ashley
Impala Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 8000 bucks on a guitar? A custom fender or something like that? I could walk on sunshine, but I chose heels instead.
Curt Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 No, a reissue '59 les paul. You can buy thhe real deal for $2000. But he doesn't want to buy anything used. I can play better on a $100 keyboard. But then again, I play piano bars all the time. Even in 5" heels. I wore heels at a house party lately and the women loved them. One woman sat beside me on the piano bench all night. I couldn't ask her out because it was a 30 year anniversary party and she was the wife! But everybody had a good time.
