Hello Everyone! It's been a while since I started a post, so I figured I'd inform everyone about how everything has been going with my heeling evolution. In the past 12 months, I've purged my "women's" shoes, went on a shoe drought for about 3 months, had some really strong soul searching moments, and finally, with the help of everyone here, have decided to embrace my love for shoes and high heeled footwear! Last month, I posted in another post about walking through an airport to get a rental car, and doing it all while wearing high heels. post-14900-0-02294700-1351314393_thumb.j I thoroughly enjoyed that, and it made me realize that I really do love wearing heels while out and about. It should NOT be something that only women can do without ridicule! Fast Forward to today, I'm super excited because tomorrow, I will be participating in a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk called Hunks in Pumps! All the men will be wearing high heels! I cannot wait for a full 2 hours of walking in heels without ridicule! To prepare myself, I took a special road trip to the mall in Dale City (Potomac Mills) and went hunting for high heels. I did some online shopping at www.torrid.com, and came across some very nice pumps in larger sizes!!! From this website, I decided to head to this physical store so I could try them on. When I got there, I chatted with the staff and informed them about what I was looking for and the reasoning. They were all giggling and giddy, but informed me that they get men in here shopping for heels all the time! (We are not alone!!) So I immediately selected this hot set of leopard and black pumps: post-14900-0-18317200-1351314293_thumb.j I was in love as soon as I slipped them on my feet. Incredibly sexy, and easy to walk in. I felt so comfortable in them! I truly felt liberated. I tried on multiple pairs in wine (dark reddish/purple), nude (which were incredibly sexy... Im kinda upset I didn't grab a pair), royal blue, studded black, and fire engine red. When I tell you I've never had such a "should I, shouldn't I" moment like this one, please believe me. I've never been so torn about decisions of which shoe should I get!! I spent at least 30 minutes bonding with the sales staff! They were envious of how well I walked in the shoes, and one of the girls even said, "Your stance is even better than mine!" I had a blast with these young ladies! We even became facebook friends. I ended up grabbing the leopard and black as seen above, the wine, the blue, and a pair of wonderful black flats (Hey Dr. Shoe... :-) )! All these wonderful shoes would have cost $50 a piece (except the flats which were $20), but I caught a 40% off heels sale and a BOGO 1/2!!! A $170 purchase for $69 bucks... That's an awesome feeling! I was incredibly happy, so I decided to wear the heels through the mall! A first for me! I walked through the crowd and was actually approached by several women who told me that they loved my shoes. I got alot of hugs and conversations out of all these young ladies! It was alot of fun. I did have a few men looking at me funny, along with a few giggles... which is understandable, but nothing rude was said. I also had some youngsters being ignorant. Two high school age girls were walking behind me, and when they noticed my footwear, they stopped talking and I saw one of them preparing her camera on her cell phone out of the corner of my eye. When I heard the shudder noice, I told her if she wanted a picture, she could have at least asked. She replied "I didn't take a picture" and awkwardly walked away. lol... people and their foolishness. I went into Nine West and met a beautiful young sales woman who was interested in me and my footwear (I liked her flats also.... lol). She helped me try on several styles and shared a very beautiful smile with me! I didn't see anything that I wanted to spend $40/$50 on, so I parted ways with her (I should have asked for her number!) and walked back through to my car. An awesome high heeled outing! Tomorrow is the High Heel Walk, so I'll be posting some pics of that tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

I'm very pleased for you and it sounded like a great experience. Yet again more proof to dispel the myths around there being any dangers wearing heels in public.

High heels are the shoes I choose to put on, respect my choice as I repect yours.

Good for you, my friend! It sounds like you enjoyed quite a fun filled experience.

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

That seems like a positive day that felt totally comfortable and exciting for you. It sounds like you've broken the cycle of obsession/purging and that must be a great relief. I'm pleased for you, well done and enjoy!

If you like it, wear it.

I certainly hope tomorrow's outing isn't interupted by a young lady named Sandy. Is there a website for the charity event? I've done Walk a Mile In Her Shoes several times and it was always fun. After a while you realize you don't need an "event", you just go to the mall or the home store or wherever you need to go in the heels.

I'm interested in hearing about your Hunks in Pumps for Breast Cancer Awareness experience and was it successful in the goal for also raising funds it had projected?

Hey everyone!

The Hunks in Pumps Event was a blast!! I had a very interesting time!

I got there at about 11a and slipped on these:

I walked my way up to the designated area, passing 3 hot young women who worked at a bar. They peeked out and gave me high compliments and cat calls as I made my way to the event.

There was a great turn out. At least 150 people were there to support a worthy cause. Many men in heels, some fakers who didn't even try, and plenty of women all participating in the fun!

We started off with a High Heeled Military Workout. Push Ups, Stretches, Burpees... all done in heels. I had to pass on the Burpees... lol.

After the workout, we all did a short race around a block. Again, I had to pass on the first place action! I made it around in my own time, then after a little more mingling, the entire crowd went to a restaurant together, where prizes were given out based on who had the best outfit, best painted toes, biggest blister, etc., etc....

When many took off their heels, I kept mine on the entire time! I loved it.

After it was all over, I said my goodbyes and went over to the mall and did some shopping while in heels.

I actually got alot of attention while in my heels today! I had some girls approach me and ask me questions about my heels which led to a great conversation. I also made some connections regarding my music ambitions, and the guys didn't even really mind my heels. It shows that people truly don't care...

At any rate, I went to visit my girlfriend afterward (who knows about my love for heels and really doesn't care too much) while wearing my heels, and after that, this rookie heeler tapped out and put on some flats.

It was truly a great day. You all are right though. I am definitely ready to begin wearing heels more often. Days like today really make you question why you we don't just do it.

Thanks for all your support.

Here's a pic of me and what I wore:

Glad it was such a positive experience and a real confidence booster. It took me only one such event, a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in June of 2011, and I said that was fun, but I really don't need an event to go public. I just do it. Continue to have fun, continue to post about your experiences, and most importantly, treasure your gal who approves. Steve

Lovyourshoes, You had a great time heeling and for a great cause too. Keep on heeling you will enjoy it, as I do. Sounds like your gal is a very special woman. Hope to read other posts on your heeling. Happy Heeling, bluejay

Those heels look great, totally work with the rest of your outfit, and you look really comfortable wearing them. That explains all the positive reactions. Glad you had such a fun day for a good cause.

If you like it, wear it.

Bravo to you, my friend! It sounds like you had a fantastic experience! And you definitely worked those shoes! Good for you!

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

Steve - great advice! I'm definitely becoming more open to wearing all footwear and not just what society says I'm supposed to wear. Bluejay- Thanks! She is a great girl, and just to clarify, the woman in the picture with me is a former co-worker who came to support me. I didn't mean to mislead anyone if I did. My girlfriend is amazing... I'll post a picture sometime soon! SleekHeels - Thank You very much! I have worn that outfit before without heels and got alot of complements, so I knew that If I picked the right color pumps I'd have even more wows... I guess I cheated... lol! JeffB - I have admired your work and stories for quite some time now! Thank you for your support! I believe I may have actually seen you before way back a while ago. Your face looks very familiar and I have family from Reading, Pennsylvania. My grandmother owned/operated Betty's Paradise and it was very popular in the 90's. Perhaps we passed each other by at some point! At any rate, thanks for your compliment! I always try to put full effort in anything that I do! Happy Heeling!

Sounds like the Hunks in Pumps event succeeded. However, the greater success was your experiences before and after in associating with others who accepted seeing men in heels. The stage for men heeling publicly has been activated there. You really have a great opportunity to encourage the community along with the attitude that there are men who also want to wear high heels regularly. May you continue to enjoy heeling in the atmosphere you described.
