Anita C. Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 I admit that at the age of 54 I seldom run anymore let alone in heels. How about the rest of you? Do you/can you run in your Stilettos without something unfortunate happening? Ciao! Anita : "Spike Heels . . a Pork-pie hat . . Have on the mend in no time flat . . Skirted-UK Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Not if I can possibly help it ! As I am nearly always wearing a calf-length straight skirt when I'm wearing heels, the last thing I want to do is start running. Unfortunately there are times when I need to make a quick exit. Running in high heels hurts my bad knee and in the past I have damaged skirts and twisted my ankle doing it. "You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave ! Heelfan Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 I've never had a problem running in heels, even in my 5 inchers. I think the 5 1/2 inchers would be a challenge though - I normally go carefully in those! I remember buying my very first girlfriend her very first truly high (4") heels. We were both 15. One of of the first things she said triumphantly was "Look! I can even run in them!". Since then I've seen many girls running in high heels, Usually they've managed it quite OK, but I've seen one or two topple over and collapse in a heap. Once, in St. Ives in Cornwall, a teenage girl was trying to run along the bumpy Cornish cobblestones in a pair of 7" medium-thickness heels with 2" platforms and came a real cropper - flat on her face! Instead of helping her up and seeing if she had hurt herself, an old Cornishman went over and prodded her with his walking stick saying "T'was yer own fault fer wearing them silly newfangled shoes of yourn!". Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
PJ Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Your poll asks "Do you ever rub in your stilettos?" ....... have you been watching me? click .... click .... click .... The sensual sound of stiletto heels on a hard surface.
Laurieheels Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 Quick sprints are all I prefer. Anything more than that is more than I'd care to run.
J-Nation Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 this topic brought to mind that famous Pirelli ad featuring Carl Lewis....... http://www.subliminalworld.org/pirell2l.jpg Emma
Heelfan Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Well I never! You've done it yet again Emma! Managed to conjure-up just the right image! I don't know how you keep doing it. Your gift for knowing what's out there and the right source is quite fantastic. You're a genius! That image of the male athlete (I didn't know it was Carl Lewis) in his red 5 1/2" stilettos was on huge posters all over Bristol a while ago, so the good citizens of our city have certainly had a good spell of seeing at least one guy in great heels (or two if they've seen me around!). Cheerfully yours, Heelfan Onwards and upwards!
new_look Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 excellent picture. a change too, most pictures the public see of men in heels is where the picture has been made so that the man looks outrageous and daft, not like when the streetheelers stick their usual fashions. anyway back to topic, i can run short distance in heels, but then i become ankle concious
chris100575 Posted December 13, 2003 Posted December 13, 2003 Does anyone know if he actually wore the heels for the photo? You can do clever things with these new-fangled analytical engines these days.
Anita C. Posted December 15, 2003 Author Posted December 15, 2003 According to my sources Mr. Lewis did not wear the heels for the photo. They were added later. "Spike Heels . . a Pork-pie hat . . Have on the mend in no time flat . . Ten Minutes 'Till The Savages Come by Manhatten Transfer.
dimpantyhose Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 4 inches and below, I can do it in a short distance, but if the heels is larger (not pin ones), I can run normally but, after a while, my ankles hurts a lot
Elisha Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Only when I am depressed and have a death wish... that aside, I just walk very quickly but never run.
Anne_Louise Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 Yes, quite often. In fact I think some drivers, seeing the height of my shoes, deliberately speed up as I'm crossing the raod, just to offer the challenge! On Sunday in the church car-park I gained some admiration from a member of the congregation as she saw me run in my 51/2" heels, on gravel no less, to avoid being hit by a reversing car!
Dawn HH Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 I never run in heels. I can't. I'm lucky to be able to walk in heels with my arthritic joints and my weak right leg, knee, and ankle. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Imelda Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Yes. I run in my heels. A fair bit. I've loaded video of me running in ballet boots. It's not very graceful, but it can be done. :-) Imelda
LoraineTrull Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Ditto for me, can barely run at all, let alone in heels. Now, back when I was a younger gal, I ran in them a lot, just to dash across the street and things like that.
sienna Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 i dont like to, but i can >^.^< thankfully i dont normally put myself in a position of having any reason to.
Amanda Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I would rather not have to run in heels. I can but I avoid it. I can't imagine what it would be like trying to run without heels.
M-a Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I've never tried it 'cause I think the risk to seriously injure myself is pretty big and I'm not willing to that risk. I run a lot but when I do I wear sneakers designed for running “Sometimes you have to sacrifice your performance for high heels” www.heelsoholic.com
Pernilla Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Hi all.. I did run one time to catch a taxi, it was raining and i didn't want to walk. I was wearing my black Ellie 8260 15cm pumps. I can tell you that it was really wobbly to run in them;) I was lucky not to trip or twist my ankles, but it was really hard... //Pernilla Trying to learn walking in superhigh stilettoheels
thehighheelsgirl Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 LOL I don't really run but I can walk fast! Wouldn't 12 MPH be like a 5 min mile? Even when I used to run I don't think I ever got faster than like 7 min? 5 min mile is fast! Yes, I do walk in these
rekavago Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Hi all! A year ago I was membering the jury at Budapest Stiletto-Run and the winner girl was wearing her competitive dancing's high-heels:))) it's possible to run in high-heels but some high-heels are more appropriate than others:)
Alexa Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I can manage a fairly brisk run in boots with a broad platform heel, but I wouldn't even think about it in stiletto heel pumps! Alexa
heidi.bier Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I have walked at a brisk pace in my padded high heel boots but have never run before. In high heel pumps, I tend to walk at a slower pace then in my boots as they have less support.
Shintav Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Yes, today actually just a few hours ago. I often need to run for a bus. Especially if I have spent to long flat ironing my hair only to remember that my partner has the car for the day and I am about to miss the last commuter bus. I would say that I am rather fast in heels too.
heidi.bier Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 What sort of 3 inch plus heels are fastest to run in? platforms? thick square soles? heels with deep treads? ankle boots? strappy shoes?
Shintav Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 What sort of 3 inch plus heels are fastest to run in? platforms? thick square soles? heels with deep treads? ankle boots? strappy shoes? 3 inch and no more. I never wear more than 3 inches to work. I am kind of tall. I have not thought about it, but it would have to be something that stays on the foot well, or you just have to walk. Just run on your toes.
heidi.bier Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Speaking of height, I was fairly surprised by the amount of people on this message board that are over 6 feet or 1.83 meters tall without heels. I was even more surprised to find out that these people still love to wear ultra tall heels. In fact, some people who have privately messaged me have claimed to be well over 7 feet or 2.13 meters tall. That is getting into basketball player heights!
