JeffB Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Yawn! Just more of the usual homophobic, uninformed, nonsensical babbling about men in heels not being men, yadda, yadda, yadda. And that was after reading just one page. Didn't want to waste any more time with the other pages which I'm sure consisted of more of the same crapola. I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Shafted Posted September 16, 2012 Author Posted September 16, 2012 The funny part is the intellegence level of some of the posters, entire paragraphs with no punctuation or capitalization. To top it off it's a gamers forum I think. The following quote on page 4 was definitely designed to take the wind out of the sails of the naysayers. "men, i like this look their is nothing wrong with it" Shafted, the boots that is! Foxyheels Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Is that for real, members who identify themselves by listing the components of their computer and they dare to call us weird. High heels are the shoes I choose to put on, respect my choice as I repect yours.
FreshinHeels Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Nerds, heelers and what else don't ye just love the world! In the process of becoming the person I always was...but didn't dare to let her come out

I know right? Maybe there is nobody home there at all. Maybe it's not a forum for people but for computers. There just jealous because they don't have feet. lol Shafted, the boots that is! ilikekicks Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 For your reading pleasure. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=368401 Thanks for the link! I ALMOST went and replied/created an account, but didnt. Yawn! Just more of the usual homophobic, uninformed, nonsensical babbling about men in heels not being men, yadda, yadda, yadda. And that was after reading just one page. Didn't want to waste any more time with the other pages which I'm sure consisted of more of the same crapola. I dunno about you my friend, but I'm far from labiaphobic ! In all sincerity, most of the people posting on that forum are between the ages of 13 and 30. How much experience in life do they really have? How much of the world and what of its history do they really know? I would be willing to wager that the greatest achievement in life most of them on that forum have accomplished is a ' headshot ' on some shooting game or a cool facebook page of somekind with millions of followers.. of whom they have probably met less then 1% of. Im not saying either is an achievement to look down upon, but there is so much more in life and most never realize whats really important till they are told ' the outlook doesnt shine well right now but we think your chances are good '. To be honest with everyone, I'm going through round #2 of my battle and I do have a different perspective because of it. Everything I THOUGHT was important really isnt. Most of what the average person believes is ' important ' really isnt. We dont know these things until were told theres a chance things wont be so good. When I reflected on those ' kids ' ( for lack of better terms ) postings, all I could think about was when I was younger and how I might have thought the same way ( if I wasnt stoned all the time ). Those remarks could reflect any one of us at some point in our lives. We might know better now, but what the hell did we really know when we were 13-30? Most of those ' geeks ' or ' nerds ' want pot legalized. They want all their freedoms to do as they please, yet speak of how aweful it would be if some of us chose to wear certain shoes, something which isnt illegal and doesnt harm anyone ( for the most part ). In this past week, embassies have been burned, people have been killed all over by many different forces/actions/diseases.. yet theres such a disdain for someone wearing a certain shoe? Really? The priorities of 90% of the human race has really de-evolved over the last 20 years. People dont meet in person, they ' text ' on phones. They dont interact, they BELIEVE they interact by going into chat rooms, AIM or message forums. Sure, Ideas can spread, but how many of us know people whom say ' I have a girlfriend already! ' and its some chic on another continent that they have never set their own eyes on yet? Is that REALLY a ' relationship '?!?! If thats a true ' relationship ', why the hell would they care what some guy they have never met wears on their feet? I say Screw Em! Wear what you want and dont worry about what some idiot on the internet ' believes '. Be true to yourself. -ILK. REPEATEDLY ARGUMENTATIVE, INSULTING AND RUDE. BANNED FOR LIFE.

As for round #2 - - - I hope there is good news. To me, thats more important than the dingbat forum posters with no clue.
Gudulitooo Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) Thank you Shafted for bringing this to us, this was a very pleasant reading indeed !! I tend to only read the most "intelectual" or "neutral" comments, but the other are welcome for a short break and laugh ! BTW, I think the very badly spelled ones are like this on purpose, a way to inpersonate someone. At least they noticed ! And they choose adapted pictures also (no porn nor in the closet) (Well I suppose the person that started the thread is a member here ? ) Men are very touchy with everything that could be (not actually is, but could be) seen as "gay". Some women are abusing of this word "gay" seemingly in order to discourage men from wearing heels. Maybe men should listen to them ? .... NOooooo ! Edited September 17, 2012 by Gudulitooo
SleekHeels Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I think it's cool that the issue even came up on a totally unrelated forum, it's a credit to the alternative under-current in the technical world while any narrow-minded remarks simply reflect wider social attitudes in general. Techies aren't exactly renowned for their fashion awareness largely because fashion is perceived as a "herd mentality" which they eschew on the grounds that innovative outside-the-box thinking is a more highly desired character trait. All the more surprising when some of their reactions are so conventional and biased, but then as an "alternative" community ourselves we sometimes express some surpisingly biased opinions of other social groups too. If you like it, wear it.
wood&metal Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Yet; they'll go to Comic-con dressed as a movie charicter; game charicter; or comic book charicter..... It would be funny if a male sci-fi movie leading charicter wore heels... Never frown because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
Rei Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 The grammar in that thread was pretty sad to read through, though I have seen much, much worse. I am a total computer geek and can understand the listing of computer components though. I could tell you every single component in my desktop and on my desk from memory (and how much they cost) and what I would want if I had several thousand extra dollars. From what I've seen, gamers never really take the time to spell check; a habit born from typing as fast as possible in the middle of a game. I do the same thing if I might get shot in the head for backspacing to fix every typo, but never on anything that I can take the time to not look like a retard. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛABΕ
Guest Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Yet; they'll go to Comic-con dressed as a movie charicter; game charicter; or comic book charicter..... It would be funny if a male sci-fi movie leading charicter wore heels... Couple of years back we did the con at the Excell in Docklands, Youngest stepdaughter does Naruto. Some fantastic costumes. Alien, Imperial Guard, Stargate, Batman and of course the manga themes. Costumes, accessories, toys and corsets for sale. Chris and I where in long leather coats and heels and I certainly got no "funny" looks, certainly they were seen, I even think I fitted in better than those with poorly made costumes. Returning to the original link,. Some of the comments were dismissive with a "do as you like attitude", I think that is a step forward in it's self. The others relating us with the gay culture as it is so often, especially with some of the models and media found pictures that have appeared over the past year give a very "camp" representation, unlike our reality. Yes if I want to wind people up I can "camp" it up but it's more often in a workplace and where I've had a female audience watching on the side they have been almost wetting themselves with laughter, not at me but at the one I'm winding up. Our personal audience need to see us as normal individuals, not weird but just logical, well spoken, dressed people. Then the message will expand without the media hype. Great find Shafted and "enlightening" in some ways. Al Edited September 19, 2012 by Alsheels
Histiletto Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 We have to accept that a lot of people haven't really thought for themselves. They have grown up believing the things they were told and they dismissed anything else as weird or something that will hurt them if they understood it. Kind of like not seeing a good and informative movie called "Schinder's List" because of the "R" rating. Yet, they'll fall all over themselves to watch action flicks where acts of extreme violence and subversion against people are basically the themes of the movie. Most older generations were often ignorant of many things like men wearing items labelled women's, because it was hushed up or just not mentioned. I dare say this same process happens today so that only a few indiscretions are publicly vented as news enticements and then dropped almost immediately, so that most people would not consider such actions as common happenings. Someday, after men realize in their contentment of being known as the dominant sex, they will see that their options to choose from the varieties that this world has offers have been given away. Stereotypical males have basicly the same set of daily duties to perform, the same uniforms to wear, and they look forward to satisfying their creature comforts by the end of the day. Women, on the other hand, have continued to exercise their original choices and they added more options as men failed to keep options open. Yes women are making more decisions, which actually gives them a better position than their so-called dominant participant. Womens minds seem to be sharper as they deal with the job market and the home opportunities, their outlook for success is brighter through studying and keeping open minds, and they get to decide what they will wear daily from an array of selections. This sounds like women are living the life of freedom, all of us have desired, for they have a world of choices within their grasp. Men have limited their wardrobe to a few uniforms with just a handful of colors and texture to select from. At the end of the day, men are getting into bed. Obviously, this is an over simplification of the roles of men and women, but it rings true. As men, we have to be more vigilant in living life and remember what true freedom is. If the option of choice has been taken away from our desire, then our freedom has been limited.
Guest Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I like it Histiletto a very true observation. The word (or term) weird in middle english, I was told referred to "that outside the encampment (village or fort in the middle ages), the unknown". There was much to be afraid of in that era. Although weird had become more related to strangeness in either peoples habits, attitude and clothing, I believe there is still that fear of the unknown that creeps in still today that effects many people to not accept variations to the norm. Certainly there is a locale variation where more is acceptable and in others where to be dressed in anything other than jeans, a check shirt and big boots just doesn't make the grade. The growth of the hippies in the 60s is a good example, are we not in part running parallel to to the "freedoms" of those in that era? Al
