In my industry, one of the "manliest" boots you can wear are logging boots, and those always have at least a 2" heel on them. Obviously, they are a lot more rugged looking and heavier than those Gucci loafers, but still.  .  .

I guess we should be thankful to have a mainstream article which mentions men wearing heels, and the subject of whom is not wearing outlandish garb along with his heels, low though they may be.

Funny you should mention Logger's - The ones I usually see barely make 1-1/2"s but I did get notice that a steel mill has recently banned those from the mill.

I think I can walk the walk and talk the talk in my heels !!!!!! LOL  I had a pair of Scream heels and could walk in them just ok, and for that reason I kept them at home, sadly even with very little use the stiletto heel broke off and the seller and the manufacture would do nothing to replace them.

Yeah - - I'm thinking they really weren't designed to be out beyond the bedroom. I had a similar experience with a pair that fell apart 15 minutes down the street. Road-rashed a knee pretty badly.

I'm sorry, @CAT,.They look similar but I see they are different . I looked at them and plan to see if my dsw has them.

G by Guess has been pushing these styles over the last few years. I have two different pairs, neither of which we have posted. Maybe I'll get a picture for you. I'd have to think they will have a new style out this year too. They seem to sell well as they run out toward Christmas.

In the past I have tried to find these "work boots" or "combat boots" types, also know to have lug soles. I have ordered on-line and returned at least 4 different pairs in the past two years along..  And tried on numerous pairs in stores.

DSW had G by Guess combat styles the last two or three years. Still do.

I do not have one of those where I live. But whenever I travel I try to stop in there if there is one near. The quality selection and prices are pretty good for second hand. It is definitely geared to the 30 and under crowd though.

Agreed - but it dawned on me years ago - - - I don't shop my age/department anyways.

  6. I stopped into a Plato's Closet store recently. Was looking for skinny jeans / jeggings. Prices were fair, but the selections were fantastic. I've hit a couple of these stores recently. Shoe selections were good. I can see me stopping in more often.

Stefano Pilate, as most of luxury fashion, caters to the top 1% of the global economic class.

Pilati's influence is extensive.  At worst, his designs might create "heels for men" conversations among designers + commerce divisions at mainstream retailers like Zara, Target, WalMart etc.

Oh hell - - I must really be living in the sticks - - there isn't a heel within 1/2 an hour of here. Walmart has sneakers, flats and flip flops - - - and work boots !!

Been quite a while since I posted my own content here. Thankfully, things have calmed down nicely on my home front, still not out of the woods, as they say... but we're doing much better, thanks to a bunch of professionals helping us along. wow - was that cryptic enough ;-)

Tonight my wife went to bed early and the kids are all down, so I decided I would pick out some heels to wear while I catch up on some work. I was searching for some wedges I liked, but landed up being too noisy for my wife (shoes are all stored under my bed), so I just opted for a pair of block heel platform sandals that were within reach. I have only worn them a couple of times, and despite not always having liked the block heel/platform look, these did have a certain appeal to them. That, and the sale they were on :)

They have a 6" heel and a 2" platform. Makes for a good stable walk, though I must say, I think I am out of practice (it has been a long times since I have heeled properly!). Bought from New Look: http://www.newlook.com/shop/shoe-gallery/view-all-shoes/navy-denim-knotted-platform-heels-_366158541?isRecent=true

I know there are some friends here who will love them, and others who will scowl ;-)

Herewith, some appropriately sized images for your viewing pleasure.

Yep, I'd wear them - - Since we've gone from torrential rain to 90's and high humidity, Something like those, A denim mini, triple shot of Bourbon and something on the Bar-B-

    Gotta be comfortable !!

  9. There are a lot of places I will travel - - Middle east - - Not likely without corporate employee escorts from that country. I regularly travel into Cartel controlled areas of Mexico, but my coworkers from the area make sure I don't get into trouble.

Some say that a platform gives a useful cushioning effect - but surely a padded insole would do that much better, and with minimal extra height?

I like a bit of platform. Even a 1/4" is good. I have single sole and find I feel every little pebble to irritate the balls of my feet - Not fun in my book. I'll take a minimal platform over a single sole every time I know I'm on sidewalks.
