  1. I Think it depends on what I am wearing. I have a few dresses that I have to put on after my shoes because I cannot work the little buckles otherwise; especially if I am wearing a corset as well. My "clubwear" tends to be a bit edgy.

I have a pair of 5 inch patent pumps with 3 straps over the center of my foot. They can be a real trick to get into or out of in a hurry.

I'm sure the guys would be interested to hear that you have a dress that needs to come off before you can work the buckles on your shoes

  2. That's so true, Heidi, that such a lot of effort is put into the whole look, only to spoil it by the choice of shoes. I see so many women at formal events who have obviously gone to a lot of trouble, and expense, to look their best but seem to have no idea of the importance of their choice of shoes. Heels, even quite low ones, can make such a difference to every style of outfit. But beware of wearing anything much higher than you can easily manage! We've all seen, I'm sure, girls and women struggling with 4" or even higher heels when it's obvious that they usually wear little higher than flip-flops. They hobble along, picking their way around obstacles, and are plainly ill at ease. If they feel inspired to wear beautiful shoes why on earth don't they parctise a bit in them before going out in public?!

I have seen it both ways. Where a nice dress is spoiled by flip flops. I have also seen people try too hard by wearing sandals with too high heel and after wearing their high heel sandals for a little while, they end up removing their sandals and just going bare foot with their nice dress

  3. Hey Sophia, I understand how much you like Manolo Blahnik. Whenever I had a big function to attend, I used to always want to show up in Jimmy Choos! Of course, that was when I was a teenager and a lot more susceptible to advertising. Today, comfort and style, regardless of brand is how decisions are made although YSL still does manage to tug at my heart strings more then other brands

  4. I know for my highschool, many people were not accustomed to wearing high heels. They tried to wear them for the sake of the dance but were teetering along in them, very unsteady. Girls were bunched together trying to help each other stay upright LOL I know by the end of the evening, most girls had kicked their heels off and were dancing barefoot haha

  5. So true Alexa & Anne Louise. If you can look good, why don't you?

We go through the effort to do facials, put on eye liner, mascara and make our hair look nice. Then we put in the effort to follow fashion and select the nicest outfits. Why not finish the outfit with a nice pair of pumps or boots?

It takes some effort for me to wear such high heels out everyday as it forces me to wear fur lined padded boots everyday but I think it is worth the effort as I end up looking great and everyone around me notices how good I look and how good my posture is

  6. My favourite pair, I think, would have to be the very first pair I bought. I knew I was starting an office job so decided to take the high heel plunge. They're a pair of black 3¾in court shoes. I got them from Dorothy Perkins and they have completely opened my eyes!

How long have you had the Dorothy Perkins court shoes for? Do you find you go out of your way to take extra care of them because they are your favourite pair? If so, what sort of extra care do you take for them?

  7. I saw a piece of advice for the dominatrix (should the plural be 'dominatrices'?) online which suggested that once you've got your partner blindfolded you can take your high heels off and wear slippers for the rest of the scene, because he's not going to know!

    Alexa

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha  Alexa, you crack me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can just imagine doing something like that on a date. After getting home, turn down the lights, offer him a massage, then blindfold him. You can take off your high heel boots and if that tight leather pencil skirt has been bothering you. Give him his massage with him not knowing what is before him before putting everything back on and removing the blindfold :)

  8. Hello Gemma, how very nice to meet you  I was once in a dance studio with hardwood floors and mirrors on all four walls surrounding us. I had on my favourite pair of high heel boots at the time, it had a 3 inch heel. I saw in the mirrors how the heels made my posture look so good and how they made my legs look so long. I loved how the thin heels made that elegant click click sound on the hardwood floor of the studio. If you get a chance, try putting on your favourite pair of heels and stand in front of a mirror to look at your posture. Then take them off and see the big difference in posture. Regarding my absolute favourite pair, it seems changes all the time so it is not an absolute favourite pair but it is my favourite pair for the coming few months. Right now it is a pair of black, leather knee high boots with a 3 inch heel and it has a really thick, fluffy fur lining which makes it feel like my feet are walking on a thick Persian carpet inside these boots. Of course, the weather is still typically under 15C these days so I can still wear this pair. When it gets hotter, I am sure another pair will become my favourite. Do you have an absolute favourite pair? If so, which pair?

  9. It would be great to have one of those round, rotating cabinets inside my closet. Each day you rotate the cabinet one notch and in there will be the fresh set of clothes for that day including the pair of heels, pantyhose and skirt for the day. That way, each pair gets their fair share of the action and as Alexa so eloquently put it, no pair gets neglected

  10. hahaha ...... I wonder how well most guys can do with guess which pair of heels I am wearing just by the sound of it. Girls I suspect would be much better at such a game. Thin heels and thick heels make different sounds. Metal heels, plastic heels, wooden heels and cork heels make different sounds. Most guys I know can't tell the difference in sound between a sandal, pump or boot though. They also can't tell heel height based on sound just yet. At least the guys that I know. Have you ever played the guess the heel sound game with your guy friends?

  11. I like the pattern on those insoles. Much less boring then the Dr Scholes ones which they seem to sell at most pharmacies. However, when you insert cushioning insoles into shoes, do you find that they sometimes press your foot up against the top of the shoe? I found that gel inserts, which I really like if only they did not press my foot up against the top of the shoe, were effective. The reason I opted for pantyhose and socks is because with those, I can wear boots of a larger size and the pantyhose and socks will fill in the empty space all around as opposed to just on the bottom. I'm glad that inserts can work for you though Alexa so you don't have to constantly have hot feet everytime you want to wear high heels

  12. The choice of footwear they were for dancing is very important as it impacts comfort, style and the ability to do moves. The shoes to a dancer is like the board to a snowboarder, the drum to a drummer, the scissors to the barber. Are there any other dancers on this forum?

  13. Karen, Pussyinboots, you two are making me blush!!! While I do follow fashion closely, I love how you two have the ability to walk in very high heels and how you two are not shy. You are confident and are able to flaunt your high heel prowess whenever you want which is something every fashion model wants to be able to do

  14. All it requires to wear heels of that heigth is training. Much training but well worth it. I can only advice you to try cause the reward if you complete is great.

You have very good balance Leigh! As for myself, I know my limitations. With my current 3 inch heels, I already need padding to last the entire day without feeling very strained and tired. I am wearing a pair of fur lined boots with pantyhose and thick socks for padding with 3 inch heels. I don't think I can wear anymore padding and your skyscraper heels would probably have me exhausted after walking from the parking lot to my desk hahaha

  15. While I am certain that heels are just a part of my work ensemble that includes smart skirts, blouses, sweaters, jackets or in some cases long white lab coats and safety goggles, I still opt to wear heels to work even though ballet flats would work just as well for my profession. I know for many professions though like the banking profession, sales, fashion, media, high heel sandals or pumps are standard attire.

  16. I love the clacking of my heels against tiled floors at the office. Some co-workers/friends claim they can tell which pair of heels I am wearing just by the sound they make on the floor. Alexa, I am guessing your bf can tell which pair of heels you are wearing by the sound alone as well?

  17. When I was high school few years back, I often worn tight jeans or riding judpurs tucked into my leather high heel knee boots or OTK boots, sometimes i put on my spurs too. On top I wear white blouse with nice leather jacket or equestrian jacket. I do that usually on Thursday or Friday. The school teachers knew that I am the equestrian team, so they don't bother me at all.

Other than that, I do wear jeans and high heel boots often to school.

    Alicia

I can see how the equestrian jacket and tight jeans would be okay for school, even fashionably chic but you wore spurs? That must have really attracted some attention! Are you originally from a place where riding is popular like Dallas, Calgary or Derbyshire?

  18. My boots are mainly in my closet and my shoes stored in boxes in a storage room. What I do want to get is clips to hang my boots up on rods so I can take advantage of the height of my closet and can have easy access. The thing is, I tend to rotate between three pairs of boots for going out so these are the three pairs I keep by the side of my bedroom door and the rest can go into storage. Alexa, do you also tend to wear a few pairs frequently and the rest sort of tend to stay in storage until a special occasion requires them?

  19. I'm a fairly nonedescript 5'7" in bare feet but with platforms on I can of course be much taller. Indeed, I've had comments from friends such as 'I didn't know you were so short' when they've seen me without shoes or boots on. So people must have this impression of me being a six footer!

    Alexa

How often do people actually see you standing up without heels on Alexa?

You don't seem short to me at all!
