  1. Here is my 2 cents . If you have to get dirty working in a trade . Don't do it , auto mechanic , diesel tech , maint. tech or plumber to name a few . I am sitting here  typing "pecking" with 2 sore hands from injuries acquired from working in the roll mill and some scares from chemical burns . My breathing is hard sometimes from oil coolants (years ago). Here is a good idea from a crotchety mean ole' guy : learn to like English and sitting at a desk . Working with your back and hands will bring nothing but low wages and a worn out body . Listen to what these guys in here are saying we have been there and one day you will be to . I want to tell you a short story about 3 boys who were best friends from grammar school to present day . One became a Lawyer and is doing great with no issues and one is general contractor and I chose a vocation . I bet you can figure out witch one of the three could not sit at the desk . The Pleaser boots are nice looking . Wise move telling your mother .  I wish you the best of luck in the future and most of all be safe .

  2. dww , like the sandals . I would love to find a pair like that with a slight wedge on them around here . By the way , it's hot here (USA) and humid as well . I am really looking foreword  my next electric bill ....LOL

  3. Here in Kentucky it's hit or miss for the rural areas  . That being said ,  the NRA hat joke was not funny    hit kinda close to home if you know what I mean . Here it's the religious folk that tend to be harsh and judgmental in my opinion . Case in point : My sister in law wore some really nice high wedge thongs to a Father's Day get together and was given a hard time about it , by her older sister ( very religious ) until my wife said they looked great on her . Think what would have happened if I walked in wearing my heels . Just have to pick the right time and place . If you are not sure carry a spare pair of shoes. That works for me .

  4. I would go with some 2" - 3" wedge heels , like a dark brown or black and go with a boot cut pair of jeans . By starting out with wedges you will learn stability on different terrain . Wedges most of the time are rubber soled and way easier to walk in . It's all about practice , practice and yet more practice and the confidence will come with time . When you get a pair of heels to wear outside start by vacuuming your home , mop the kitchen and try to get some time on a stair case in them . You will learn how to turn in them and break them in and see how long you can wear them . Just an idea try a "Mary Jane" style . You could find them at Payless in the safe-t-shoes with a more aggressive sole , kinda like the ones pictured . Dark trouser socks or black tights would help hide your heels to . Best of luck !

  5.  Well Heelster ....sorry for having big feet . :giggle: My opinion , post them , have the individual pay shipping and ask them to make a donation to HHP . I did with Thighbootguy . Giving them to a thrift shop or Goodwill is no good to me . I would rather see a guy wearing heels get them that will use them and enjoy them .

Heelster , It's up to you . use them for flower pots , lamps , phone holders or whatever you choose . I have faith in your judgement , do with them as you wish .

  6. TBG , I was in a hurry that day . I had to get to a hospital in Louisville . Mom's health was getting worse . She passed a week later . Had it been under different circumstances that day , we could have had a late lunch or headed over to General Butler State Park . They have a lot of paths there . May be a good place to meet up again . Just an idea....

really did (probably still does) like HIGH heels.

Thighbootguy , I have even more heels and some higher than what I gave you . Yes , I do still love high heels . I have moved more to the wedge style . I just like the stability with them as you saw I am rather "fluffy" and I look better in wedge platforms . I hope to contact you again soon after I get done culling the herd ........yes , you read it right , I am getting rid of more . Same price as the first lot . LOL ! Great day everyone .

  8. Hello Tina ,

I wear platforms wedges most of the time . That being said my highest pair are 6.5" that would equate to about 4.5" with a 2" platform. My highest play heels are the ones in my avatar and they are 6.75" . I have worn them to drag shows ..... Not to much walking mostly sitting at the table/bar and having a few drinks although I would not suggest the drinking to anyone . They should have come with a warning label stating "Do not wear while intoxicated !" I had one heck of a face plant . Needless to say they are just a pair getting dusty in the closet .

  9. I am glad to see thighbootguy is enjoying a change in footwear . I was not to fond of the Brash chrome platforms for the same reason .  Had every intention of wearing them clubbing , but ,they really cut into my feet as well and would leave my toes numb after wearing them a few hours . The second pair of Nine West , The Bonfire had a lot of good reviews from the fashion magazines . Hope to see more pictures soon .

  10. ......yet another rainy spring day in Kentucky . So what does one do ? Shoe shopping , what else ? After returning another pair of shoes to Payless  . My wife and I decided to head over to a Lane Bryant close by . I was checking out the shoes and saw some nice wedges . Here are my latest purchase . The size is 12W  Name of shoe is Wooden Wedge Sandal . They seem to fit well and look great with jeans and knee highs .

  11. Starting to loose faith in Payless ! This all started about two weeks ago with the purchase of the PENELOPE MID-WEDGE . I am sure you all have seen just the perfect shoe and had to get it . You get home wear them around and they just don't look as good in the mirror at home as they did in the store mirror . Naturally at this point they must be returned .

The return trip , Goody Goody , more shoe shopping !!!!  Things went down hill pretty quick when my wife and I went to exchange them for another style the WOMEN'S SUMMER ESPADRILLE HIGH WEDGE . We went to several Payless stores on our quest for the espadrilles and as we were shopping ...not seeing what I was looking for . The nice young ladies and one gentleman would check the "lot locator" and offer the suggestion "you may want to check on line" . The only constant with every Payless was the lack of inventory and not in just my sizes 12 or 11 wide , but , my wife's size 8 as well . Several of the stores had closed as well . This looks like Payless may be down sizing or going to online . Either way this is very disappointing to me . Checking out shoes and trying on various styles are half the fun of wearing heels .

In the end I did find the WOMEN'S SUMMER ESPADRILLE HIGH WEDGE ... in the floral pattern . Has anyone else noticed these issues with Payless ? I did send an email to Payless asking the same question and the response was to check Payless on line and no answer to my questions . I look forward to hearing from you all .

  12. WOW , I am going to get a Chevy and wear flats .......no , wait maybe ? Think my IQ will be low enough to understand the subliminal message ? Then again my common sense will help me out . Then again , maybe not ? Think maybe we are over thinking this ? Just my opinion .
