  1. Have any of you ordered from Skyscrapers ( www.sky-scrapers.com) - boots/shoes makers? They're a bit expensive but often seem to have 'specials deals' on. Also, when you complete the order form they ask if your male/female. I presume this is so that they can reinforce the heel and make them a bit wider, not really sure but there you go.

They appear to be a reseller of Leatherworks shoes.
  2. Thanks for posting this Thighboots. Yet another source of fashionable men's shoes with heels.

I have the famous YSL Johnny Boots you have in your avatar Thighboots, and would like another pair of something similar, so these might fit the bill if they look good on.

Has anyone been by their "Show Room" to see the shoes first hand yet?

I tried to call to check their opening hours, but just got a answer machine. They did leave a message on my voice mail telling me that it was best to call before visiting - so I assume they are not a shop open normal hours. But they also said that they are just opening a new shop in D'Arbly Street, Soho.

A google on Archie Eyebrows brought up this page on Edward Sexton. All the guys in the pictures (pics 6, 10, 15, 20, 21, & 23) are wearing Archie Eyebrows men's Amechi style with the 6cm heel: http://www.fuk.co.uk/london_fashion_week_autumn_winter_2008/edward_sexton

Looking at these pictures, I'm not so sure, but it's hard to get an idea of what they really look like on.

    Any comments?

  3. The tiny Faith shop

Faith in Brighton used to be my ex-wife’s favourite haunt. Your right, it is tiny - it must be their smallest branch!

So, we were back at Bluewater today:

In Schuh I tried on both of the two mens heeled Chelsea boots that they have in stock. The Jeffrey West boots are the higher, and have a very casual, almost tatty look with various creases around the toe area, and a slight crumpled, "misshapen" look. (They have also sold out of some sizes, including the size 8 black, and won't get any more until late may.)

The lower "Cuban High" boots were much smarter looking with their plain flat toe area, which I preferred, so I brought them.

(And my lady also brought these which look much better on than in the pictures.)

Measuring the heel back home, it is 42mm / one and two thirds inches, on the UK size 8 I wear, and doesn't feel noticeably higher than any of my normal flat shoes (but then I am used to wearing my 68mm YSL Johnny boots most weekends). Also the toes don't look anywhere near as curved upwards as in the picture.

So in summery, a nice boot, but probably not something that the majority here would get excited about, but if we support these styles and they sell well, they will introduce more (and possibly higher).

I urge everyone here to try on either of these styles and buy them if you like them.

  4. Faith has in stock some rather nice zip-sided ankle boots (black, white or pewter) rather similar to those in my avatar but with a very pointed toe and a lower cuban heel (about 1.75"). Very soft leather (although that may result in creasing at the toe etc), easy to get on and off and comfortable; I am very tempted! Go to http://www.faith.co.uk/productdetails.aspx?pid=860700&language=en-GB&cid=501 for details and, if ordering online, quote code FL0708 for a 15% discount.

Schuh has some cuban heeled boots too; I saw some there by (I think) Jeffrey West at about £110 that were very wearable; heel no more than 2".

    Hi Puffer,

We were at Bluewater this afternoon and, as usual, visited nearly every shoe shop!

I saw and actually tried on the Faith men’s Xinkle boot that you link to. I didn't like the pointedness of the toe - I didn't think they looked right sticking out from under my jeans. My lady thought the toe shape was OK, but didn't like the way the toes pointed up.

    In Schuh I also came across two different men’s heeled boots;

the Jeffrey West boots that you mention, and some cheaper "Cuban High" boots. As it was ten to five (10 mins to closing) I didn't have time to try either on. But, both had heels that looked a little higher than the Faith boots - maybe around 2 inches. I'll have to go back next weekend and try on.

So that's at least three pairs of men’s heeled boots on the UK high street already! As I've said before, we all need to do our bit to help push this trend in to the mainstream. If these styles don't sell, they will withdraw them and not put anymore heeled boots out. So buy some of them - I'll be buying at least one of the above.

  5. Great thread Puffer!

I'm keeping my eyes open for stylish mens heels as well. (See my posts here and here.)

I also came across Beatwear online, and intend to visit them to try some on when I'm next in the area (I go away on business several time a year, so it's only a matter of time before I'm up that way). Apparently Russel Brand has brought several pairs from them.

I'm not so keen on the curved under heel of the Underground boots linked to.

Has anyone else come across some cool mens heels?

  6. Great post Wellies! At a UK size 8, I could buy women’s heels, and I have nothing against the idea. But nothing that I've seen in the women’s shoe departments (and me and my lady spend a lot of time in them) looks as good to me as the proper men’s heels I have. - Shoes designed to make my feet look bigger and with a masculine toe shape. And I expect a large majority of men - ones that have no interest in wearing heels (and don't visit here) - would buy them and wear them if they looked good in a masculine way. We are at a fork in the road:- This catwalk/high end trend could go mainstream in a big way, like in the 70's. Or it could just pass by and never take off. The key to it taking off is the right exposure. Guys looking good on the streets in manly looking heels (I'll be wearing my Johnny boots out today) features in the fashion/style press (not the gutter press making fun - like they did at Nicolas Sarkozy) and the right young bands and celebs wearing them. Let's do our bit to make this happen!

  7. Thanks for telling us about that Heelfan. I don't suppose you or anyone else recorded it? I, myself, have some 2.5" YSL men’s boots which I really enjoy wearing. But they are a little to high (and expensive) to wear all the time. I'd like to be able to buy other shoes/boots with a range of heights from 1.5 to 2.5 at a more affordable price. I was in Aldo with my lady a few days ago, and did also look at the men’s shoes and boots, but didn't see anything with a heel over 1". Hopefully what you say they showed on that program will arrive in the stores in the next few months. And if they do, all of us need to buy them and support them. If they sell well, they will introduce more styles. And if the higher ones sell the most they are bound to try introducing even higher ones. And the more these "lower heels" are worn on the streets, the easier it will make it for you more extreme heelers. If anyone spots any of these new mens heels in the shops, please post here - ideally in the For Everyone forum where even the non-heelers will see the posts. Also post them on any men's style/fashion forums you may know of. Spread the word!

  8. I must say that I'm shocked to see a thread with such a title! We have so few women here, and it is statements like yours Pumps, that have got us in to this situation. This forum wasn't started as a men in heels forum - it was born out of Jenny's forum. Jenny's forum was initially conceived with women wearing heels in mind, but she quickly found that many men want to / do wear heels, and she was open to that and supported them. So today this forum is for everyone that wears or has an interest in heels. But that will include, from time to time women who don't like the idea of men in heels. Now unless they come on to the guys forum and start attacking you, they are entitled to their point of view. And, Pumps, the same goes for anyone in the real world - a proportion won't like seeing you in heels and that goes with the territory, as a trailblazer you have to accept that. Yes, pointing, laughing, nasty comments, etc., aren't acceptable (and I don't know your personal experiences Pumps) but that is the minority, and no reason to tar all women with the same brush. And hate is a strong word. Even the "maliciuos and spiteful women" you may have encountered probably don't hate you. They just throw out nasty comments without engaging their brains (if they have any). Feel sorry for them - people like that are generally unhappy with their own lives, and feel they have to ruin everyone else’s day. Rant over! On the positive side it is great to see everyone support the women so strongly. Like the vast majority here, I love women. I love to look at them, I love to spend time with them, I certainly love to see them in heels, I love everything about them. Women are amazing!

  9. The beauty of high heels is exactly that - the heel.

I guess for me, the beauty of high heels is the effect they have on the wearer - The way they arch the foot, the way they shape the legs, change the posture, the way they make the wearer move, the way the foot can become a straight line extension of the leg in the highest heels, etc, etc. All these things are more important that the actual shoe itself.

However if the shoe looks good in itself, all the better.

  10. My Lady has these, they look great on her and she always gets compliments whenever she wears them.

Very pointy? You bet. Too pointy? Not really - they certainly don't look like clown shoes (and she is a UK size 7). In fact they make her feet look small if anything.

Roger and Sara are also very nice people to deal with.

  11. Thanks Amanda!

what a shame that the article was from 1972 and not 2008!! ;)

That explains "Arrowsmith shoetique both the prices (which range to $65) and the heels are high." I was thinking $65, high?

I read the whole article without realising that, and was thinking that this was the follow on from the new men's designer heels that are now fashionable.

But as more guys embrace the new heeled men's designer boots, it's only a matter of time (unless the trend passes without being picked up by the mainstream).

  12. Personally I think they are ugly, but I think the concept has possibilities.

The sole looks likes it extends back to under the ankle, so the wearer only has to keep their weight forward of their ankles, rather than completely on their toes - so these would be much easier than ballet boots, but more difficult than a tradional wedge.

The platform also extends up under the arch, so they would give more support than Marcus' unheeled shoes.

They're certainly a new alternative to the wedge or heel.

If the platform was lower, or the whole design was less heavy looking they would have more potential. I would like to see other designers take on the same concept - which may happen if these take off.

  13. It is much more about the person than the shoes for me. I like heels, but they, frankly, get a little boring without someone wearing them ;P I'm also at a point in my life where I'm much more intrigued by the person than the fashion. Don't get me wrong, seeing a nice pair of heels drives me crazy, but it moves toward wanting to know the person in them, not spend time with the shoes!

    I agree.

I love seeing women in heels. The shoes on their own are nice, but someone wearing them brings them to life. And, for me, even more important is the way they enhance the wearer; the bend of her ankle, the shap of her legs, her posture, the way she moves, etc..

But heels are just the iceing on the cake. - The woman wearing them is always more important than the shoes.

  14. Very nice again - the ones on the right look great.

Any info so I can hunt down some? :santa_hat:

As posted on the last page:

The peep toes are from the "Hollywood Heels" range, brand name "illicit".

I got them off ebay form an ebay store who still have them in stock

    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/2xcite-u

The ship to mainland Europe as well.

Don't believe the description of 6 1/4" either. These are a minimum 18cm (7 inch) heel.

I've just bought them in Leopard Print with a Black Bow from 'BobandAngie's' Store on Ebay US - and yes, they ARE 7" heels.

Banana Shoes here in the UK also sell them. You can find them on the "Pumps 9" page around half way down.
  15. Thanks Thighboots2, I don't think I could pull off the Python, let alone the leopard print! They do feel great to wear. They support the arch of the foot more than flat shoes, and the extra height makes you stride with confidence (I'm almost 6ft anyway). Having tried on high heels with my lady and been stand/able to walk in them, I didn't think the heel on these would be anything. But I hadn't counted on the difference between a few mins in the bedroom, compared with wearing all day. After all day in these I was aware of the heel and the increased weight on the balls of my feet, and my feet did ache later - not painfully, just the pleasant ache you get might get after a good work out. Regarding men’s shoes with heels, compared to similar women’s shoes, my lady pointed out an important difference: I'm a size 8 and she's a size 7, but our shoes look VERY different sizes. Unsurprisingly women’s shoes appear to be designed to make feet look smaller, whilst men’s shoes appear to be designed to make feet look larger.

  16. I think you may mean "weirdo". The other spelling could have other connotations.

    Thanks Firefox.

I've corrected the spelling in the post, but don't seem to be able to amend the title. Can one of the moderators do that for me?

    Cheers.

  17. Hi all,

I mainly visit here as an admirer of women in heels. I've don't wear heels myself, but have said in the past that if heels were fashionable for men, in styles I like (ie not feminine) I would probably wear them. I'm certainly open minded.

My lady knows I have a thing for heels, and I have tried some in the bedroom with her and found it to be fun. :santa_hat: But I've never felt any need to wear heels myself.

Under the new posts function I occasionally read some of the threads here in the guys section, which brought me to this thread. At the time I saw Thighboots2's avatar and thought "they don't look bad" then moved on and never thought any more of it.

On Saturday I took my lady, who has wanted a pair of YSL Tribute Sandals for a couple of weeks now, to the YSL store in Old Bond Street, London.

After we finished on the ladies floor we still had an half an hour on the parking (don't get me started on text to park) so she said let's look in the men’s department. It's not normally where I would spend my money, but I'm happy to look.

As we came out the lift the shoes were opposite, and I spotted the Johnny Boot's on the top shelf and remembered this thread. So I walked over to them and (wanting to show off my fashion knowledge) said to her that these are The Johnny Boot.

She immediately liked them and said I should try them on. I wasn't sure, as I had no intention of spending that much on shoes for myself - even though I will spend that much on heels for her, if I like them enough.

But I tried them on. I actually thought they looked great and so did she. But I wasn't sure about spending that much on a shoe - about 2-3 times what I normally spend on my best shoes. She made the point that it was a shoe that would get better with age, and was made to last.

As I was coming around to the idea, I tried on some different types. - I wasn't so keen on the brogue. I also tried the similar but lower boot, but it didn't look as good (even not considering the heel).

So I brought a pair in plain brown. - They only type they didn't have in my size was plain black.

Obviously I was going to wear them out on Saturday night, but my intention was to keep them for best. But my lady also wanted me to wear them on Sunday around to a friends house warming party. - After discussion there about her shoes, how nice they are, how high they are, etc (which happens whenever we see friends) my shoes got lots of attention and complements - something that I've never had before, and something I felt a bit embarrassed about. The women in particular loved them, but I also got compliments from guys, and questions of were I brought them!

Yesterday she said I should order some in black for work! I'm not sure that I would waste a shoe that good on work - I'm already the best dressed guy there (due to the business casual policy most guys don't seem to make any effort to look smart) - but I might get another pair in black later in the year.

  18. Hi again, On Sunday we went to a party and, as usual, the conversation tuned to my ladies shoes, which often leads to her showing the other women (as well as many interested men) pictures of her other shoes on her phone. One of the other ladies - a very attractive single girl in her 30's who was wearing 3" high boots - pulled out her phone to show a picture of her in her highest heels. It was a full length picture of her wearing a nice dress and dark 4" stilletto court shoes (pumps to the Americans here). She said that the picture had lead to her attracting a weirdo when she put the picture on her profile on a dating site. When we asked "weird, in what way?" she said that he was obsessive about the shoes. (Me and my lady looked at each other in a knowing way!) The group conversation moved on and we didn't get a chance to ask more about it, but it make me think about the way us heel lovers approach women: I don't hide the fact that I like women in heels, but don't make a big thing of it - certainly not at first. I just enjoy that a lady has on heels, and I may not even mention them unless it come up in conversation. - Then I try not to go on about how much I might like them! I assume the guy in question made a big thing about her heels and put her off him. I guess some of us guys here could easily come across like that. Anyone want to put their hand up? Have any of the heel wearing ladies here attacted what they would consider a high heel werido?

  19. Hi all, I went shoe shopping with my lady on Saturday. Her favourite shoes in her collection are open YSL toe mary jane Tributes, so with summer coming, she has wanted to get a pair of these since she first saw them. So on Saturday we went to YSL in Old Bond Street, London. They're call the Tribute Sandal and she chose the blue. The heel height is around 6 inches with the platform just over an inch. I've got to say she looks stunning in them. And best of all, she finds them very comfortable and says she will be able to wear them all day. :santa_hat:
