Hi HH Dude, For any shoes, the advice is simple - wear them as much as you can. Standing and walking around will give you much more benefit than being sat down. If around the house, find some chores to do to keep you on your feet and moving around. Wearing them out would be even better. Most importantly, if the shoes start to hurt, take them off and try again the next day. By doing that, each time you wear them you should be able to go longer and longer before they start to hurt. Don't be tempted to push through any pain - by doing that you will end up hating the shoes and losing any enjoyment they could have given you.

Hi Macer,I went into the Hammersmith TK Max on the weekend and to my surprise found a size 10 pair of Paris Hilton shoes so had to try them on! I had a slightly sidewards look from the attendant but managed to go to the cubicle and model than for a few moments.I felt so empowered and my legs looked amazing, I was very tempted to go and buy a whole outfit to go with the heels.
However the heels where £50 and I wanted to ask if anyone had any sexy high heels size 10 that they would be willing to sell to a keen London heel enthusiast, I have been into many shops across London searching for size 10 heels but have struggled.
I look forward to reading your responses.
Macer551:smile:
And welcome to hhplace.
Most high street shops will only go up to a woman's size 8, with a few doing some styles in size 9. Generally for larger you will need to buy on line.
I know that TK Max often have stock in from US suppliers. It is possible that the Paris Hilton shoes were a US woman's size 10, which is around a UK size 8.
Unfortunately I can't help you with any size 10 shoes, but good luck in your search.

Thanks for the advice Charlie and 5.5 Thrill.
Mine are 5 inches high and I'm only really used to wearing 2.5 inch heels out and about, so it is a big step up for me.
I've been practising around the house, moving some boxes up and down stairs, doing the dish washer and laundry, including putting the washing out on the line, and even clearing out the shed. But due to having two teenage kids (including one that's at that awkward age) it's only been once or twice a week when they are out.
Charlie, how have you been getting on with your 5" Miguel Jones boots?
When I start to make any progress, I'll post on the thread I started, but I don't want to steal KZColt's thunder here.
-
Hi Kzcolt,
One of the best posts on here in a long time!
It is great to read your experiences. - I have a pair of Miguel Jones boots and hope to start wearing them out and about soon. As they look very masuline, I don't think I have any concerns about what people will think seeing me in them, but I don't want to wear them out until I can walk completely naturally in them and I also want to take my wife's feelings into account (she is unsure about them).
Did you show your wife this blog, and what did she have to say about it? Have you had any more comments from your wife about your boots (or anyone else you might have shown)?
Have you worn them much since? If so, it would be great to read about your experiences.
I look forward to your further posts!
(PS: UpBy5, as another new owner, I would also be interested to hear about your experiences.)

A bit too fem and in your face for the average guy IMHO.Solestruck.com just added more heels for men.
http://www.solestruck.com/first-by-jeffrey-campbell-lita-mens-multi-glitter/index.html
They come in men's sizes from 9-14.
Enjoy!
But have you seen these on the same site? Personally I find them a bit ugly, but if heels are going to become more mainstream for the average guy, then these are the kind of shoes that will help achieve that, rather than silver glitter platforms.
I would say to every guy here, that if you like these boots it is almost your duty to buy a pair. They are men's heels made for men, and we should support any manufacturer doing these to prove there is a market.
Now is the critical time - Jeffrey Campbell are just dipping their toe in the water to test the demand. If they don't sell well, they may not bother with any other styles and it will be an opportunity missed, but if they sell well they will introduce more styles of heels for men.
I imagine that there are other manufacturers who are aware that there is a niche catwalk trend of men in heels, but unsure if it could translate in to mainstream sales. Those aware of the Jeffery Campbell boots will be watching closely to see how well they sell.
Please support JC in their brave new venture. They are doing this for us!

VB was wearing Louboutin's "Daffodil". There has also been some discussion about them here: http://www.hhplace.org/hhplace_cafe_-_general_chit_chat/18287-prince_william_kate_middleton-3.html#post275336

Thank you so much Gina!Best classic designer heels ever !!!:-)
My wife now has a pair and she looks stunning in them!
-
My wife (who is knowledgeable in these maters) informs me that they were a custom colour - Navy blue to match her dress. In what way were Ms Beckhams shoes "customised" by Louboutin?
Surely, they're simply the new Dafodile model?
Anyone can order Louboutin's in a custom colour - if they have the money!
-
Hi Gina,My brandnew Designer Slingbacks
My wife loves the look of these. What brand are they, where did you get them from and how high are they (heel & platform)?
Rob
-
My be it's worth having a heart to heart conversation, and telling her exactly that. Don't make it about the heels specifically, but that you "miss the things she used to do and wear".I do love her, I loved the things she used to do and wear, but kinda miss that now.
She may miss things about you. This is often the way relationships can go after a long amount of time when people stop making the effort.
But there's nothing stopping you both agreeing to try and reset some aspects of your relationship back to the early days when things were fresh and new.

Yes I'm a fan. I have the complete Bizarre reprints.
-
Thanks for the compliment.Very nice boots!
Let us know how they fit and walk.
I mailed them if they make the same style boot with
the heel 1 inch lower.
5 inch bit to high for me.
I believe they don't do this toe shape (which is what I like best about them) with a 4 inch heel, but please let us know their reply.
I agree with you about the long toe obscuring the heel height. The overall masculine look of them is what I like so much.I got them. The fit is good. The extra 1" height makes a huge difference when compared to 4". I can walk in them, but it's noticeably more difficult. I wouldn't wear them to work but would consider wearing them to dinner or any other event that's more sit down than standing up. What's cool about them is they are of the pointed toe variety so the extra length in the foot obscures the 1" higher heel height when worn with longer bootcut pants that I typically wear. They actually look more 'manly' because of this.
Charlie
I must admit that I now have some concerns about how I will cope with the 5 inch heel. I'm not even proficient in a 4 inch heel yet. My plan was to just wear them out and about as every-day boots at weekends, but it may be that I can only manage them for the occasions you mention.
When I tried them on, they did feel very high but manageable with practice. But at present I'm only really used to 2½" heels out and about so it could be too much of a step up. I guess I'll see how I get on when my correct size ones are ready.
By the way, Prutske has started another thread about his Miguel Jones boots here.
-
Hi Prutske,
I'm glad you are pleased with the boots.
There are pictures here for anyone interested.
It does sound like sizing can be a bit hit and miss. I've got some in (hopefully) my correct size being made.
Hi UpBy5,
Yes I noticed that they have that "real leather smell" that you only get with expnsove shoes.
-
Hi Charlie,Okay.... I just ordered a pair exactly like yours Rob. We'll see if I can handle the 5" heels in this style of boot.
Did you receive your order yet?
How do you find them? Have you worn them out yet?
Can you handle the 5" heel?
Rob
-
These look perfect for street heeling if you want the high heel experience but not the commonly percieved 'female' look. I imagine they are very easy to walk in forlong periods due to the more masciline wider heel.
That's an ass-kicking pair of boots, wear them proudly and don't hide their heels under pant legs!
Those are great looking boots. I wear boots similar to those to work and no one even comments anymore. I would definitely wear a pair like those to work and for formal outings.
Thank you for your compliments guys!Wonderful boots, Rob.
Congratulations Charlie, I'm sure you will really enjoy them!Okay.... I just ordered a pair exactly like yours Rob. We'll see if I can handle the 5" heels in this style of boot. I incorrectly stated the heel height of another pair I bought sometime ago when I claimed 5.5" heels. They were actually a 4" heel height, but for some reason are much tougher to walk on than the ones I'm wearing today? I made the claim from memory. LOL Anyway, with these boots the heel necks down thinner and the boots are 1/2 size too large but I can't wear more socks as the tall shaft is too tight to get my socked feet through easily.
Charlie
But last night I saw that they now have my correct size at the $129 and in stock! Sods law, I only brought the size 9½ as other sizes were $175 made to order (with a long wait) and with only 97% vendor rating I didn't want to risk ordering something not in stock.
Having thought about it today, these boots are so good that I if I can sell the size 9½'s, without too much loss, I'm going to order my correct size. It will have cost me over the odds, but they really are worth it.
So I have put them up in the High Heels For sale forum here.
As I mention there, if anyone is seriously interested I may be able to meet up to let them try for size. (Central or South East London, A23 corridor or North Kent preferred.)
-
Well all I know is that these size 9.5 would fit a UK 9 or 9.5 better than my UK 8.US sizes are typically 1.5 more.
UK 8 should be US 9.5, so your order should be, and was, spot on.
Hi Puffer,Very nice boots, Rob! The general styling is certainly masculine and must be good for street-heeling. How high are the heels, please? The only thing I slightly dislike (although it is a true 'cowboy' feature) is the wide border (welt) around the nicely pointed toe.
What did you get stung for in UK customs duty, VAT and fees? (Always a disincentive to import from the US, unless one is lucky.)
The heel measures 5 inches high, and they certainly feel much higher than a 4 inch heel (which is the highest I've previously ever tried). But they feel walkable with a bit of practice.I also think that the wider heel makes them look lower.
I must admit that I like the wide welt. It is one of the things that makes them look more masculine as it is something common on men's shoes, but much rarer on women's.
But yes I did get stung for VAT (at 20%) plus an £11 UPS brokerage charge! But not other duty. So they weren't cheep, but seeing the quality I feel that they are more than worth every penny.

Hi all,
I've finally found the ultimate Ankle Boot (for me at least)!
I started on the forum as an admirer of women in heels, with no real interest in wearing myself. Then three years ago I tried a pair of YSL Jonny boots and I was hooked.
Since then I've worn the Jonny Boots (which have 2½" heels) all the time outside of work (even getting married in my second pair) and for the past two years Jeffery West shoes with a 2" heel to work everyday.
But I've been wanting to get something higher. But whilst I'm all in support of the "free stylers" on the forum who wear feminine shoes and stiletto heels, that's not the look I want, and wearing "women's shoes" does nothing for me - it's simply the feel and look of the raised heel that I like.
However I have tried a few "masculine" women's ankle boots trying to find something that I like, but I've found that women's boots are designed to make feet look smaller, whilst men's shoes are designed to make the toes look bigger for the same shoe size. As I only have size 8 feet and I'm 6 foot tall, my feet are on the small size to start with, and the proportions just look all wrong with any women's boots that I've tried.
Recently after reading some posts here I realised that high heel cowboy boots might be an option, but I'm not really a cowboy boot kind of guy!
Then I came across these Miguel Jones Ankle Boots. On his ebay site he had a pair of size 9½ Ankle Boots in stock at only $129 (+ postage & duty), compared with around $175 for the made to order boots. As I believe that American sizes are slightly smaller than UK, and I may have read that Jones higher heels run small, I decided to take a risk on the size 9½ for my size 8 feet. (If they were too big, I could always try thick socks or an insole.)
Well they have arrived and I have say that they are stunning! Despite the high heel they have a very masculine look. I don't think anyone could mistake them for womens boots. They are very well made, with leather lining and a real leather sole. The heel is stacked leather, but with a rubber bottom, so they should be silent. The arch the closely follows the foot - so they should be comfortable for longer term wear.
They are too large and I would have been better off with an 8 or 8½, but fit with two pairs of thick socks!
These really are cool boots, with very much a loot and feel of being "real men's boots"! I'm very please with my purchase and I think I'll be wearing them a lot!
Here are some pictures:

Bought for my wife as a gift: A stunning shoe and a bargain in the Schuh sale, these really are the definitve Killer Heel, 5 inches high with absolutely no platform, not for the faint hearted! I bought the size 6 (Eur 39) she says they are slightly small fitting but is prepared to live with it as they are one of the nicest court shoes she's ever owned, now she says she would love them in black and red! It could cost me a fortune this!

Fabulous shoes, I now have these in two colours the red colour is amazing and have received comments along these lines. Very comfy classic shoe but not for the faint hearted, they are extremely high as described, more of a shoe for going out to dinner rather than dancing

I've bought these in red first and then another pair in turquoise. I love them, very stylish, love those high heels!!! They make your legs look longer A LOT! But if you're out and about in those you have to make sure you'll have somewhere to sit down every now and then, coz if you won't your feet will be killing... But they look gorgeous!!! (no pain-no game:))

Stunning colour with a sexy skinny heel. My only criticism would be that the front is quite low and therefore exposes my two little toes a little more than I'm used to! That said, I tend to wear these shoes with jeans and for that purpose they're perfect. Lovely shoe and a very individual colour!

Fantastic shoes!!! Gives me extra height i need and makes my legs look long and slim. I'm yet to wear them but fit snugly and feel unexpectedly comfortable (i'm sure i'll disagree after a few hours in them and they'll hurt like hell but it'll be worth it). With shoes this beautiful who cares about maybe getting a sore heel every now and again??? Definatly my new favourite shoes

As I said for the black ones of these that I purchased, sky high killer heels is not a wrong description. Loved the style of this classic court and had to have another pair. The heel is really thin, and unfortunately I scuffed a heel on the 2nd time of wearing so watch the pavement cracks. At size 8 the heels measure 13cms. Cant wait until pay day to get another pair of these in light grey and would luv a plain black pair as well, not patent, so please please make these soon. My boy friend cant get enough of me in these and even tried them himself, but couldn't walk in them they are so high. A must for any high heel lover

these shoes looks great, but the reality is they are extremely uncomfortable and the sizing is strange. I am bang on a size 5, always have been and a 5 fits me perfectly. these do not. they are so squashed, i would definitely never buy this sort of shoe again. Also, when i ordered this shoe, i recieved a size 7 in a 5 box so i had to go to my nearest schuh store and have it reordered again. what a nightmare.

I have these in black and and they have been my best buy ever (even at full price). Very comfortable and I wear them almost everywhere. Now they are in the sale I wish I could afford to buy every colour, but I've narrowed it down to either these red, or another pair of the black (for when they wear out). The red look wonderful, but the black are my favorate shoe ever. Please help me make my mind up!

I ordered these shoes on line because I thought they looked lovely, but photo does not do them justice. They are fantasticaly sexy, I love them. I have not had a chance to wear them out yet, and to be honest think I will have to practice walking in them first, not because they are uncomfortable they are not, just because I am not used to walking in shoes that high(Iam 5'7) I took advice from other reviewers and ordered the next size up,and although a little tiny bit big think the next size down would have been to small. But this leaves room to put some party feet in them if you are going to be wearing them for a long time.Think I will certainly be ordering them in black, wot more does a girl need.Sorted.

Anthony Forster 11/12/2010
I bought these for my wife after reading the reviews, and agree that they are the sexiest (affordable) shoes out there. I love to see her in high heels, and these are the most amazing style. They are not trashy or tarty looking, they just look classy and very similar to a certain £400 shoe with red soles. They are a gorgeous colour, and look absolutely stunning on. She'll never wear them as an everyday shoe (unfortunately for me), more for nights out where lots of walking isn't involved, or for fun nights in.
I'd agree that you need to get a size up - we got an 8 for a 7 and they're still on the small side. However the heel in a 7 is an even better 13cm, not the 12cm as listed!
Seriously considering the black patent ones now, maybe if the price drops in line with the red ones we'll get them. The only improvement I'd suggest to these shoes is to make the sizes more generous, and to change the colour of the soles - beige or red would look more expensive than the black.

James Wigmore 7/12/2010

These are ver ynice shoes - I bought the nude shade and it is a very nice creamy beige colour - not too brown and not too pale.
These shoes are very high and I almost rejected them on that but I decided to persevere and I think they're wearable if you're not intending to do a lot of walking. The heel is high and there is no platform so the foot is at quite an angle - they're not for novices or the occasional heel wearer.
They are a flattering shape with just a little toe cleavage and make your legs look good - but it would be easy to stray into the tarty look if you wear a very short skirt with them.
My main disappontment with them is that they are plastic not leather - quite pricey for a non-leather shoe.
Also not sure why the lining is described as fiery - it's silver!
However, they're a useful addition to the wardrobe and I'm toying with buying a red pair too!

these shoes are the best i love them take a bit of time to get used to them but when you do you will not want to take them off. my husband ordered me the red ones and the next day i went to bluewater to get the black ones. i did go and buy the party feet just to make them feel a little better and it works .

Fabulous shoes! They may be a bit hard to walk in as the heels are pretty high but once I got used to the height it was all right. Feel so confident and sexy in my new shoes. I definitely recommend them.

As a shoe FANATIC these were a must for my wardrobe. The colour is true to the picture as is the height so be warned if you are a amateur at high heels. Its taken me a while to get used to them. You don't have the support of platform so it can be alot harder to wear, a few practise walks around the house would be advised.
All in all a Fab pair of shoes that will have people staring for the night.

I brought these some time ago in black. Very high but they get easier the more you wear them. Because of the height I thought that I would just wear them occasionally, but now I’m used to them I’m finding I’m wearing them more than any of my other shoes! Nights out, shopping, and I've even started wearing them to work. So I just had to come back for the red ones.
Be warned that a heel this high does take a lot of effort to wear and you have to work at them. When I wear them a lot they do make my feet ache but it’s bearable and not painful – more a gentle reminder not to take them for granted. But they support the arch of my feet really well, which makes them more comfortable for all day wear than many lower heels that I own!
I get lots of attention and feel and look great in them. If you love heels, you really must buy a pair! My favourite shoe ever!
The only down side is that they seem to be selling out now. Buy them quick before they all go!

A full 5 inch heel with no platform. We've talking Louboutin territory here. And like Louboutin's you can’t just throw these on for the first time and expect to walk in them. But after finding these hard at first, now I LOVE THESE SHOES!
Ali, try scraping up the soles on the pavement to make them less slippery.
Pamela, don't give up on them. You won't regret it.
I want the black next. Schuh, can we also have these in white for the summer?

very sexy shoes. sizing is spot on.
they are a bit tricky to walk in due to the high heel and no platform on the sole, and i'm used to wearing killer heels.
the soles are very smooth, so word of warning girls - watch out on those shiny floors!
great shoes - every wardrobe should have a pair.

Beautiful shoes - impossible to walk in! The heel ratio to the soles make it difficult to take a step and the only way I could consider wearing them would be if I was wheeled in and remained stated or standing in one spot! This comes from a girl who loves her heels, infact the heels are as high as the shoes I wear all day every day when I can shop, walk and run with no severe consequence.

Just arrived. Fantastic colour, run true to size and would make Shrek’s legs look amazing! Obviously not gonna be as comfy as a pair of Uggs, but for 5 inch heels not bad! Slight lumpiness where the ball of the foot goes, but sure I can deal with it. Thanks Schuh! Tanya

The Weight Topic
in For the guys
Posted
I'm 12st 4lbs right now (= 172lb or 78Kg) and approx 6ft.
When I was young I was very slim (28 inch waist) and was one of those people that could eat anything without putting on weight.
When I hit my 30's the weight started to go on. As a guy you don't really notice it. As clothes wear out, the new ones are just slightly larger (and the trend for baggy jeans and large T-shirts hid a lot). We don't weigh ourselves and don't spend much time looking at our bodies in the mirror, so I really can't say I gave my increasing size any thought and no one ever mentioned that I had put on weight (partly because it was so gradual).
Then when I was around 40, after being weighed, a nurse told me that I was overweight. I found it hard to believe because in my mind I was still the slim guy who could eat anything and not put on weight. But the scales read about 15 stone (over 200lbs or 95kg). So I started cutting back on sweets and ice-cream and on meal portion sizes, and over three or four years I came down to 11½ stone. This was also combined with a move from baggy clothes to slimmer fitting (including now mostly wearing women's slim fit and low rise jeans).
However in the past couple of years I've slowly put 10lbs back on, but I do weigh myself each week and keep things reasonably in check.
