  1. The thing is, this trend is being driven (for the women) by comfort, which is why most hidden wedge trainers/sneakers are around 2-3" high - most women wouldn't find a 5" wedge (without platform) a comfort shoe.

If you are in the UK, these have 4" high wedge inside:

    http://www.barratts.co.uk/en/truffle-sporty-metallic-hi-top-wedge-trainers-313426

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00BUQX14U

Amazon list them as 3", but I have measured them in the flesh, and they are definitely 4" high in a UK7 / 40. Comfort is good, but quality is average (completely synthetic).

When the Buffalo 2208 appeared on SoleStruck.com I almost broke my mouse stabbing the add to cart button. Good thing, too, they were sold out by the next day. They're MEN's 10, have hidden 4 inch wedges, and are a perfect fit.

    post-37-0-71595300-1367006315_thumb.jpg

I also have the Buffalo 2208, but mine only measure 3" high in my UK8 / 41.

I have noticed that web sites height measurements for hidden wedge trainers/sneakers are often inaccurate. (Probably because you can't clearly see where the wedge comes to from the outside.) The Buffalo 2208 were originally listed at SoleStruck as 4", but they now say 3" (which mine are). I have some Puma MY-66 which most web sites list as 3.5", but mine (in their largest size) measure only 3".

  2. I would love to have the black/white color combination you pictured, but currently the only color they have in size 7 or larger are a black/pink pair, which are NOT as cool looking as yours.

Thank you for the complement HH Boots.

I had to google pretty hard to find the back/white in stock, and checking my bookmarks most of the few I found in stock have now sold out. However Madison still have a pair of 9.5 in stock:

    http://www.madisonstyle.com/my-66/45914?utm_source=GoogleShoppingUK&utm_medium=cpc

Also the new dark blue/white look almost as good as the black/white, should work well with jeans and are easier to find than the black/white.

  3. My wife has a few CL's including a pair of Daffodiles. She loves them but personally I think her Piggale 120's are the most classic, elegant and timeless. - I just can't help but think that massive platform will go out of style at some point, but the classic single sole court shoe will never go out of fashion.

  4. Nice boots Bionic! I saw your picture of them in the new boots thread earlier.

    what is the heel height?

    4 inches.

A side shot showing the heel would also be appreciated.

You can find them on the Fluevog site here:

    http://www.fluevog.com/code/?w=attribute%3AMens&pp=1&view=detail&p=72&colourID=3323

I would love a pair, but they are out of my price range for the foreseeable future. However I do have similar looking (without the laces and cut off toe) custom made boots from Miguel Jones which also cost less. (See my thread here: http://www.hhplace.org/topic/16407-my-new-miguel-jones-ankle-boots/page__hl__%2Bmiguel+%2Bjones )

  5. I mean foot aching, calf stretching, stretch my arch and achilles to the max! Lol

Please, beloved community, can you all point me in the right direction?

    What about Fabulously Fetish?

These ankle boots are quite extreme.

  6. I've never been a big poster here, but over the past six months I've visited less and less. I visited just before Christmas and very found very few posts that interested me, the same again in early January. When there is less of interest to read, the wish to visit and read starts to dry up. Members do wax and wane in their activity, and I've never understood how many members can make multiple posts everyday - I simply wouldn't have enough worth saying. However, recently there seems to be a lot more activity and some really great posts, so I will be visiting more again.

  7. Looks like Buffalo are making mens sized wedge heel sneakers.

    Pricy though, $175 a pair.

Thanks for showing these RockPup. These are the same ones that OnYourToes had in the first post of this thread.

I've wanted some hidden wedge trainers* for a few months now. (*Trainers in UK = Sneakers in the US.) But my wife, who accepts me in my 2" Jeffery West shoes, 2½" YSL Jonny Boots, and much higher Miguel Jones boots, has been very anti hidden wedge trainers - mainly because my current heels are "men's shoes" but wedge trainers are "women's shoes" in her mind. But by showing her them on the SoleStruck site, clearly listed as men's trainers, I managed to get a reluctant agreement to them (although as I take a men's 8, I was able to order for £55 from Amazon UK). The wife wasn't keen, and I agree with her that they do make my feet look a bit small, and the velcro doesn't secure them as well as laces would, but I have kept them, although I've not worn them out yet, because....

    I then saw orphe0's post:

i must say i really like this trend and i plan to buy the nike when they restock in my EU43 size

fond this while looking for this (i like the puma too lol)

    http://www.polyvore.... wedge sneakers

I really liked the look of the Puma MY-66, because I feel they look less feminine and less like wedge trainers than most of the other hidden wedge trainers on the market. They are a rather cool re-working of a classic puma men's trainer, which I have attached a comparison (2nd) picture below.

Building on the slight acceptance of the Buffalo 2208 I got from my wife, she (again reluctantly) agreed that I could order a pair of US size 9.5 in black (1st picture attached below). Whilst they were on order I came across a pair in orange in a shop in Covent Garden, which I tried on (3rd picture attached - note the white version, & my Jonny boots in the background).

I'm really pleased with the Puma's. They feel possibly quarter of an inch lower than the Buffalo trainers, but are better quality, much more comfortable, more secure on my feet, and I think they look much better, although they still make my feet look small. I've worn them out quite a few times and would recommend them to anyone. The US 9.5 are a little tight on my UK size 7½-8 feet, but OK. Black appears to be almost sold out everywhere, but they have other colours and are now introducing a different design based on the same trainer.

However they have caused some friction with my wife, which I may post more about in a separate thread when I have some more time.

Attached Pictures: Black MY-66 as I ordered / Original inspiration for the design / Trying on Orange MY-66.

  8. She still does not agree with my sentiment of men wearing heels if they want to, but she just ignores the fact that i wear them arround the house.

I do get a mouth full every now and so often when i inform her that i want a new pr. She always reminds me that i am wasting money, as i cannot wear them when we go out. She will not accompany me, and at 6'11" in 5 inch heels, i cant blame her.

    Hi Addicted,

You might find that "mens heels" have a higher "Wife Acceptance Factor" than womens heels.

It depends on whether it's the feel of a heel that you enjoy (which mens heels give) or if you enjoy the fact that you are wearing womens shoes (which only womens shoes will give you). It will also depend of whether your wifes objection is you wearing womens shoes, or the added height they give you.

I wear these "mens heels": http://www.hhplace.org/topic/16407-my-new-miguel-jones-ankle-boots/. My wife isn't keen on them, but generally accepts them & I can wear them out anywhere with her.

  9. Thanks for the support Charlie & Steve! Steve, you raise some good points on how long it might take to master them. My concern is that only doing a few hours a week, I am spending too much time in lower (2-2½ inch) heels which wipes out any gains made in my limited time in the 5 inch boots. I guess I just need to find more time. Charlie, the fact that you are getting there does give me some hope that it should be possible to get reasonably confident in them. I may consider some 4 inch ones, but the timing isn't good as my income is about to go down and it will take a while longer to reduce our outgoings. At the weekend I wore them around Sainsbury's (a UK grocery store) with my wife. I felt awkward and I noticed a couple of people looking down at my feet. My wife said that I was walking very badly. On returning to the car my wife insisted that we walk down the ramp, rather than the steps, as "the practice will do you good". Those who wear heels out will know that walking down gradients is much more challenging as it forces ones ankles to bend even further than on the flat (but I think my wife quite enjoys how difficult I found that in her own evil little way)!

  10. A bit chilly in the south of Sweden today.

    Same jeans/shoes but different top.

Conceal more than they show ..

    Sure, you become curious? :irked:

    Hi Pierced,

That's a good look! As I said before these long flaired jeans work well with this shape of a tunic top, as the flair balances the shape of the top (and skinny jeans work well with more form fitting tops) IMHO.

Which look did you finally decide on last Friday?

    Rob

  11. Rob, what's her opinion on those booties. I think they look awesome, but handling them is another story.

    Hi Majo,

I just asked my wife. She says she loves them. Whilst they feel very high they aren't too hard to wear and she feels very sexy in them. The wider heel also makes them more practical (!) than thinner heels.

  12. Well, in the end of the day it is still pretty simple. Going towards my forties, I realized last year that I would be happier if I would be able to open up my personality a little bit. Dressing a little less conservatively would be part of that. I had been into wearing heels for a long time, but never found anything that went great with them. Until I learned about women's skinny jeans. Of course they didn't work on me, being 5-11 and 210 lbs (179cm/95kg), so I decided to loose some weight.

A year later I weigh 150lbs (68kg), my waistline went from 35" to 28", and I can wear whatever I want. Previously I rarely gave women's clothes a second glance, but now I buy more than half of my jeans and tops from that part of the store.

Congratulations Arctic. That is some achivement!

I also wear womens jeans since loosing weight.

  13. Hi Pierced,

You look great in all of them, but I think the longer flaired jeans work best as they balance the shape of the tunic top.

    (This outfit: Posted Image)

PS: I also prefer ther closed toe pumps, but there is not much in it - your open toe slingbacks are almost as good.

  14. Hi All,

I thought it might be time for an update:

To recap, I originally brought the ready made Miguel Jones boots but as they were too large I sold them to another forum member and ordered some custom made boots from Miguel Jones - same toe and heel style but with closer fitting ankles and a zip (like a tradition ankle boot).

The fit of the new custom boots is really good, but slightly loose - but they work quite well with a pair of thick socks. I would go as far as saying that they are very comfortable, if it wasn't for the strain that the 5 inch heel puts on my ankles.

But I had been practicing around the house in them for a few weeks now. When I first received these new boots my wife wasn't keen on them. She asked to see them on me, so I put them on under long jeans (like in the pictures earlier in this thread) and she said "actually they don't look too bad". Then she asked me to pull my jeans up so she could see the heel. At that point she said that she didn't like them.

The next weekend I asked if she minded if I practiced in them around the house and she was OK with that and I didn't make a big thing of it. On the Sunday we were going to do our weekly shop. Half an hour before we went, and unprompted, my wife said, "you can wear your high heels if you want" but I turned that down, because I knew I needed much more practice and would look stupid walking badly (and her seeing me walking so badly would have a negative effect).

I practiced around the house a few times over the next few weekends making slight improvements in them, but still struggling until a few weeks ago when we were going down to Brighton for an event. My wife said I could wear my boots if I wanted but I said "I don't think I'm ready yet", but she said take them anyway and see how you feel when you get down there.

We parked in an underground car park near our destination at around 4.45pm. I decided I would put them on and take a few steps around the car in the car park to see how they felt before committing. The boots didn't feel too bad on the smooth flat car park floor, but I was unsure I was ready to wear them out of the car park. But my wife said "come on lets just go". I did explain that I wouldn't be able to walk very well or fast and she said "fine, lets go".

So we did a slow leisurely stroll across the bottom floor of the car park and, although slow, I felt that I was doing quite well - but I could feel my ankles bending down far more than they are used to with every step.

When we got the exit, I met the first big challenge: The lift was out of order, so we took the stairs up. The stairs took a bit of effort, but in many ways weren't as bad as walking across the car park, as I could go up them with my knees slightly bent.

Once out of the car park, I realised just how uneven even flat looking pavements are! Every slab felt at a slightly different angle, which I mentioned to my wife. Her attitude was that is what she deals with every day. My wife also commented that I had gone very red in the face. - I was on the look out for anyone looking at me. She also mentioned that I was walking stiffly and needed to loosen up. A few times I had to ask my wife to slow down. If she got a little bit ahead I wasn't able to speed up to catch up.

After a three or four minutes we reached our destination. Unfortunately I had to spend my time there (around half an hour eating canapés & chatting to people) stood up. Duty done, we walked back to find something to eat. I had all the same problems and did notice a few people looking at me, and felt that I had gone red again. I did discuss whether to go back to the car and change my boots, but wife said lets just get some dinner first.

As it was a warm sunny evening we had dinner sat outside a fish restaurant. Sat down, the heel of my boots was on display to everyone that walked by, but I was happy to show it. (My previous embarrassment was more due to how badly I felt I was walking, rather than the fact that I had the boots on.)

Then the difficult walk back to the car, and we left around 7.30pm (back in my lower Jonny Boots for driving). My wife said that just because she had let me wear them, doesn't mean that I can wear them all the time. She says she still doesn't like them much.

Since then I've only worn them around the house a few more times and a couple of times out for 10mins on my own. I feel I'm getting better in them, but very slowly. I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever master walking naturally in them, but I'm not going to give up yet. I certainly have a new-found admiration of how women walk in such high heels.

    Rob

  15. Here are some pictures of the Alexander Wang Constance booties.

The instep is leaned a bit forward and gives a strange feeling. Heel height is 15cm (6") and the platform 3cm (1.25") so you get 12cm (4.8") difference and the instep is really steep. I would say the feeling is more extreme than in the CL Pigalle 120 (13.9cm) or Brian Atwood Nico 120 (13.1cm). Not very easy to walk -at least for me-.

They fit well... I'm a 11.5 in the Brannock device and these are 41 so, quite true to size.

    Hi Majo,

My wife has exactly the same Alexander Wang Constance grey ankle boots and has also commented on how high they feel compared to her other heels (including her Pigalle 120's). She is a size 40, so not much difference to the dimensions that you give.

  16. Nina started a wonderful thread in the girls forum about women enjoying the experience of walking in heels.

In that thread Alexa has made possibly the best post ever on HH Place (IMHO). As us guys shouldn't comment in the girls forum, I'm using this forum express my thanks to her for summing up her experience in such an elegant way. (I hope that is OK with the Mod's.)

My thanks to Nina, Alexa and the other ladies that have contributed.
