  1. The backless shoes story is interesting. The more I think about it, many fashions that start out as woman’s fashions slowly move over to also become a men’s fashion a year or two later. When shopping for a new pair of jeans in Top Man a few months ago, I noticed quite a few styles with quite a large flair - far bigger than you would expect on a man's jean. But of course girls have been wearing jeans like this for a few years now. As mention, someone like David Beckham would be an idea roll model to start a trend for heels on guys (in the UK that is). However, as Scotty says these trends evolve very slowly (for guys at least). If Beckham appeared in 4 inch heels, he would be ridiculed by the tabloids and very few would take up the trend. But if he started appearing in manly 2 inch heels, it is more likely that others would follow, and over a few years they could become quite mainstream for men. (Then you could start thinking about higher.) Victoria Beckham would probably encourage him as she is obviously a heel fanatic, and seams to quite like him wearing femine items of clothing. So if you’re looking for a plan here is a little story that may be of interest. In the 70’s, Lotus, the car UK sports car manufactures, had little budget for advertising, but wanted to get big exposure for their Esprit. (They couldn’t afford to give away cars as a large manufacture would.) They decided to target many different areas of exposure. One was the team who made the James Bond films. Each morning they parked an Esprit outside the gates of the studio where preparation work was going on. For months the movie team drove past and saw this car every day. (Slowly these things sink in subconsciously.) Eventually talk within the team was of giving James Bond a new car for the next movie, and several of them mentioned the cool car they had all seen parked outside each day. And the rest is history! (The white car that turning into a submarine for those that don’t know.) So if anyone knows the places that Mr Beckham (or even Victoria) hang out, maybe you should hang out there in heels. As someone who has pushed the fashion boundaries before, bit by bit his/her mind will become more open to the idea of a man wearing heels. Thinking about it, maybe Victoria would be the best target:- “David, I’ve seen a few guys wearing heels and am starting to think they look good on guys!” Sorry for the long post!!

  2. Hi Big D,

The Imagine range is made by Leatherworks in London. Most of their styles are avaliable with either a 4", 5.5" or 7" with platform.

My wife had a pair of their plain black patent courts with a 5.5" heel which looked quite stunning. She is normaly a size 7 or 8 in most shoes, but needed a 9 in these. The insole started to come loose and rinkel up after about 3 years of very ocassional wear, but they are other wise well made.

You can find their web site here:

  3. Hi Heelfan I'm sure the shoes you poined out would look like mens shoes when under trousers. Yes the shoe looks like many mens shoes except the heel. I certainly haven't seen any shoe with a heel that high that looks as manly. Its just not to my taste, but then if we all had the same taste, the world would be a dull place. I guess the point I was trying to make was that even with the two inch heel the Varick still look like a mens shoe. Scotty, I may well go have a look next weekend. Snow isn't normally much of a problem here in the UK!!! lol

  4. Interesting. Scotty, like I said on the other thread, the Varick doesn’t look like a woman’s shoe at all. I’m sure you will have no problem in even the most conservative workplace with them. How does the fit and sizing of the compare with standard men’s shoes? Narrow/wide? Room in the toes? I’m very tempted to go into Clarks next weekend and see if they do these here in the UK. Maybe I might be joining the club after all! Bubba, I’m so not keen on the ones you show. I think they do look like woman’s shoes, but I can see a guy getting away with them OK.

  5. Even back when Lisa was in Steps, she always wore heels more than the other girls. Particully in the early days of Steps, the other girls might be all wearing trainers, and Lisa would have on wedge heel sandles. Now she no longer has to comform to the Steps image, she can wear heels as high as she wants. On the same sort of subject, Tina from S-Club 7 always wore heels when the other girls didn't, so it will be interesting to see what she wears if goes solo. At the other end of the scale, the Sugababes always wear high heels when performing & in their vids, but I have noticed in a couple of programs that once off stage they are very quick to take them off and have made coments that their feet hurt. Once on Graham Norton, I noticed that one of them walked on with no shoes (but black tights) and slipped her feet into shoes waiting next to the chair for the interview. Always interesting to see who has a real love for heels, and who is just wearing what the image makers tell them to.

  6. Laurie, I haven't posted here since the days when you first started you dairy (I couldn't even remmber my log in or what email address I had used), but I still lurk, reading all the posts every week or two. I so sorry to here what has happened. I was made redundant a couple of years ago (but found a new job) and I know it feels like a real kick in the teeth. And then for you be let down by man & machine must really suck. I do hope things look up for you, and you return to your former goddess glorry. Good Luck Love Rob

  7. Hi all, Intro: I'm not a heel wearing guy, more an admirer of ladies in heels (although my wife has got me to try her heels on a couple of times!). I think if it was usual for guys shoes to have heels I would probably wear them, but I’m not one for pushing down the barriers, and don’t have any heel wearing desires. However, even at 6 six foot tall, I do consciously chose my shoes with a bigger heel (for men’s shoes that is! – around 1” or so) rather than flat shoes. The extra height feels good, and they just feel more comfortable (in totally flat shoes I tend to put more weight on my heels). I come here mainly to read the other forums, but occasionally look in at the guys one two. Anyway, to get to the point…. As a quite conservative non-high-heel-guy, I would quite happily wear the JC Penney’s shoes that Scotty linked to. I don’t think they particularly look like women’s shoes, even with the heel. In fact I have some very similar shoes with trainer (sports shoes in the US?) type sole which are about an inch high. So Scotty, I don’t think you should worry about wearing them to work if you get them. Go for it! Rob
