  1. Hi Silver, They look nice - high enough to be sexy, but hopefully low enough to not be too uncomfortable. (Real leather should help too.) However, if she only ever wears flats, it may be better for her to start at around 2" to gain confidance, before progressing to higher. (It's better to progess slowly and have her enjoy the shoes, rather than rush her in to higher than she is ready for.) Good luck.

  2. Randi doesn't seem to be having any problems with them..

Sorry Trolldeg, but I've just looked at the video clips, and I would say that it looks like she is finding them very difficult to walk in.

    :)

I'm sure that one of our ladies here, such as Anne Louise or Anita C could walk much more elegantly in them.

    :D

  3. Hi Vanity, I’m very disappointed to see that your thread has been hijacked in such a way. :D I do hope that it doesn’t put you off of posting here, as the posts of you and the other ladies here are very much appreciated. Please guys, try to respect that this is the "For the gals" forum. We don’t want to lose any more ladies from here.

  4. Having worked at various different companies over the years, I have noticed that each has a heel height to which most conform. Like an unwriten rule. For example at one company I worked at, most of the women in the office wore heels of around 2 inches high. Each time a new girl joined the company, she would come to work for the first few days in higher heels (or sometimes flats) within a week she would start wearing heels around the same height as everyone else. In a smaller company I worked at, we only had three ladies, but they all wore heels of 3½ to 4 inches. At my current employer (a larger company) most of the ladies wear heels of around 3 inches, and again, any new recruits soon conform to the same height. I believe it is about wanting to fit in with everyone else. Of course there are often exceptions. :D At my current employer, there are two ladies who wear 4 inch heels every day, regardless of what everyone else wears.

  5. how often should I practice?

    Hi Buffy,

Practice in your wedding shoes as much as possible, but listen to your feet - when they start to ache, change to a lower heel. This means that at first you may only manage an hour or so, but after a few days or weeks you will be able to manage a whole day (which you will need to cope with for your wedding).

You say that you usually wear heels of 4-5cm. Is that your normal height for work, and out & about? If so, it might be worth buying some shoes around 7cm high and try wearing these to work as your normal day to day shoes. (And still practice in your wedding shoes in the evenings.)

If you only wear 4-5cm heels occasionally, try wearing them much more often.

This should all help you master the higher heels. Good luck with your wedding!

  6. Tesa, I couldn't agree with you more. They are number one on my list of pet hates. Weather wise, we have had a great weekend here in the UK. Summer is here at last, but the down side is, it means the return of flip flops!!! Already I have seen many otherwise well dressed ladies and girls wearing them. :D Worst of all, at a few weddings I attended last summer, I saw several female guests in their best dresses, perfect make up, jewlery, and........... cheap..... plastic..... FLIP FLOPS!!!! AAHHHHHHhhhhhhh!!!! :D:D

  7. that shoe looks too much like these for my taste:

    Posted Image

I know the toe is much longer, but there is that same curve by the ball of the foot. That area should be a much more defined and sharp angle, kind of like the superarch shoes..

    Bernhard,

I agree with Trolldeg. These kind of shoes look like they raise the ball of the foot off the ground, and are quite ugly.

I think that many of the pics that Trolldeg shows are more along the right lines. (Are they from the John Willies old Bizzare mag Trolldeg?)

The 16cm Special Arch Pumps at the bottom of http://www.orientvisual.com/6inchforever/gallery.htm are more the shape that would be attractive. Shoes with this kind of arch, but a more wearable height of say 5½ inches, would be very interesting. :D

And low cut to just about show a little "toe cleveage".

As I mentioned in the other thread, it would be good if you were able to get your shoes in to some non-fetish shops. Like designer boutiques for example.

Good luck in your venture Bernhard.

  8. Jeff/Daz,

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately Rotherham is a very long drive from here – I would guess 6 hours each way! :D

    Heelfan,

I’ve just looked at the Ernest web site and it looks more like the sort of place I’m looking for. Also Paris is probably easier to get to than Rotherham thanks to low cost flights from Gatwick! Does the shop have many more styles than the web site, or does their site cover everything?

    Bernhard,

I await your site with interest. Will you also be having a shop, or selling through any other (non-web) retailers? I’ve also added some comments to your "mildly commercial II" thread.

    Anne_Louise,

Thanks for replying. Were not narrow minded – it’s just that the idea of shoes from a “fetish shop” (as many of these sites could be perceived) isn’t as appealing as shoes like these http://www.dune.co.uk/collection/display.asp?id=1062 from a bright fashionable store. (Incidentally, these shoes are stunning in the flesh, but the heel is around 3½-4 inches. Now something similar with a 5-5½ inch heel would make us both very happy!) :D

The www.italianheels.com web site is a good example of a non-fetish supplier of very high heels – unfortunately they don’t have a shop or accept visitors (I have asked). (Their web site appears to be down at present.)

Has anyone visited the Leatherworks shop/showroom? Does it have a dark and gloomy fetish shop atmosphere?

I visited The Little Shoe Box about 5 years ago, and that almost looked like a junk shop full of shoes just thrown everywhere. Has anyone been there lately? I believe that the business has now been taken over by the son of the original owner.

Thanks again for all your help everyone. Any other suggestions?

    Rob
