1. Slowly but surely men's heels are becoming available. What with the YSL Jonny Boots and Archie Eyebrows with heels over 2.5 inches as well as (UK) high street stores such as Schuh and Faith having shoes just under 2 inches, Jeffery West also has several styles of traditional men's formal shoes with a 2 inch heel.

Wanting some new smart shoes for work I went to the Jeffery West shop in Piccadilly last weekend. After trying on several pairs, I brought a pair of these in a black/pewter colour (colour not shown on their web site). (By the way, the toes don't appear as turned up as the pictures when you are wearing them.)

They also have some very cool boots. My lady liked these (which had a slightly higher heel) on me, but I was out to buy for work, so I stuck with the shoes.

  2. Hi All,

I came across a picture of Robert Downey Wearing heels for the filming if Iron Man 2 in todays Daily Mirror, and a web search turned up these articles:

    Fashion Indie Article

    Radar Online Article

    More Pictures

I've also attached a few pics. below The last one with Gwyneth Paltrow gives an indication of why he may be wearing them, rather than a fashion choice.

Unfortunately the article in the Daily Mirror ridiculed him (as well as pics of Simon Cowell and Nicolas Sarkozy wearing smaller heels).

  3. Rob: If I understand correctly YSL has shoes up to a size 45? If they do please let me know where I can find them.

    Thanks

The Jonny Boot is a man's boot (with a two and a half inch heel) so yes, they do these in a 45. I've only found them at the YSL store or YSL.com.

I don't know if the women's go up to size 45. I guess it's unlikely.

  4. I have been looking everywhere for the alti 160s for my girlfriend but they seem to be so hard to find!

    Has anyone got any ideas?

Both the Louboutin stores and Harrods get them. But they do sell out quite quickly, so it is best to phone regularly to see to find out when they might be getting them in (you may end up on first name terms with the sales staff!). Then when they get them in they will normally reserve for a day to allow you to get there to try them.

    Good luck!

  5. Hi OLC, There is some good advice in this thread. I would just repeat much of what has been said already. Work your way up a quarter of an inch at a time. Wear each heel height everyday as much as possible until you get fully competent in them (which may take weeks, months or even longer). Then progress to up another quarter inch. But listen to your body. If your feet start to hurt or ache, them swap to some lower shoes and try the higher ones again the next day. Don't be tempted to push through pain. To do it right takes time and dedication but gives the best results. Think of it as training for an Olympic event. You need to keep training every day - if you miss a few days training it sets you back. But don't push yourself in to injury. Finally make sure anything you get has a good fit and keep in mind that boots give better ankle support as you move to a new height. You can start right now by trying to wear the highest heels you currently own as much as possible and your lower ones less often. Let us know how you get on.

  6. Oh wow, good work. They fit really well there don't they? I kiinda like the idea they have their own corridor! I still haven't got a proper shoe room as I've moved house, so all my shoes are in their boxes stacked up in a spare room with poloroids stuck on the boxes!

    Thanks Roz.

It's not quite a corridor, more a long narrow alcove. But I decided to put a mirror on the far wall to give the illusion of a corridor that goes somewhere - that's the reflection of me at the end taking the picture.

I suggested the idea of pictures on the boxes to my lady, but she prefers the simplicity of the boxes and knows what is in every single one anyway.

Love all the Louboutins! I have the Altis in calf leather, but I love them in patent!

They sound great! Why not post some pic's on the forum?

You may have noticed that the top row on the close up pic is all Louboutins, as are the brown boxes in the wardrobe.

  7. Hi again all, As my lady's shoes had taken over several rooms, we decided to create some dedicated storage for them. Unfortunately we don't have a large enough house for a dedicated Shoe Room (like Roz) but managed to build in some slim shelves in some unused space in the master bedroom up in the loft. As that wasn't enough, I also had to add an Ikea wardrobe as well. These are just her shoes - her boots will have to go elsewhere. But at least we don't have towers of shoe boxes everywhere now, and no longer have to worry about shoe avalanches when she wants to wear a pair that are at the bottom!

  8. Hi Thighboots.

I had missed this post originally, only just coming across it in a search for your original Jonny Boots thread this morning.

I wish I had seen it before because we visited the eastern end of Oxford Street as well as Carnerby Street yesterday (wearing my Jonny Boots) and actually parked the car in the car park just at the end of D'Arlby Street!

I will certainly visit Sir Tom Baker's when next up there, but it could be some time.

Having owned and worn them for a bit, how do the Lenny's compaire with the Jonny Boots for comfort, durablity, look, heel height, etc?

  9. If it's not too personal of a question, I'd like to ask those of you who prefer the tighter women's styles, what type of underwear do you wear with them?....

Men's underwear just doesn't work with these jeans. Or I guess you could also go "commando". But I still wear boxers with my work pants and baggy sweats.

Just mens low rise briefs. Boxers or baggy underwear certainly don't work.

But certainly never a thong. Whale-Tail is bad enough on a girl. I would never want to see it on a guy, or sport it myself!!

  10. Ok

I think it's un litlle short...

What do you think of this:

    Good looking jeans Wile E.

The kind of look that I would like to think I have. Not to fem looking, but certainly very smart and stylish. You could go anywhere looking like that.

What brand and style are the jeans?

I like the boots too. I don't know if they are, but they certainly look like men's boots.

Can you tell us the brand (or even better, a link) and heel height? Are they real pull on type cowboy boots, or zip up type ankle boots that fit closer around the ankle (which is how they look)?

  11. Hi All, We went to the Louboutin sale yesterday and copped these stunners: (The colour is much brighter and more pink in tone than these pictures show. Heel is 6 inches, with a total of 1 inch of platform - half an inch of visible platform, and half an inch of hidden platform.) ...and these: (5 inch heel.) Ww also went to YSL for their sale a week eairler. I was hoping to get some more Jonny Boots, but they only had brown in size 45 and above in the sale. (I already have brown and take a smaller size.) However my lady got these: (6 inch heel, and just over an inch of hidden platform.)

  12. Interesting that you raise this point. I tend to find women's skinny jeans fit me better than men's skinny jeans. I tried on a pair for both sexes in Uniqlo a few weeks ago and the women's fitted me perfectly while the means were incredibly tight and ill-fitting. It must be down to the simple fact that women's jeans have more room for the bottom (handy for my behind!) and contain lycra, whereas men's don't. Also, I think it boils down to where you get your jeans from. Each store and designer uses slightly different cuts.

Oh they fit OK and yes, the lycra in the women's is better.

But I'm talking about how they look with an older face and some gray hairs.

From your avitar, you look young enough to get away with them, but in my 40's, with a slight belly, they just don't look right on me.

  13. Hi Puffer, Most girls/womans jeans also give a waist size on the label, so I go on that. However I take a 34" waist in mens, but have found that a 32" waist gives the best fit in lower rise girl jeans - probably because these jeans sit on the hips rather than the waist, and women have larger hips for the same waist size than men. But my size tends to be nearer the top end of sizes that most fashionable shops do, so you might find that if you are a 36" waist, you might not find anything in New Look, Top Shop or River Island. Oh, and I take a 32 inside leg (inseam to our US readers) in flat shoes. This is general a regular in girl jeans and again normally marked as 32. In my 2.5 inch heel Jonny Boots, I wear a 34 leg (long). To give you more of an idea of my size: I'm 6ft and 12st 5lbs. Regarding skinny jeans: My experience is that true skinny jeans just don't look right on men of our age! However womens straight leg jeans, which are tighter than mens straight leg jeans, give the cool, trendy, indie guitar band member look. With your avatar boots, like a less extreme Russel Brand. There used to be a Uniqlo in Brighton near the Clock Tower, but it closed down 6 or 7 years ago - I got some great bargains! The Nearest now are Croydon and Bromley, and there are several in central London. I can't believe how long this thread has run since I started it!

  14. My Lady has been patiently waiting for some Louboutin Alti Pumps. Last weekend we got a tip off that Harrods had received a batch. They had received them in Black Patent and Brown.

When we got there at opening time on Saturday morning, they had all sold out apart from one pair in Patent, which happened to be her size!

160mm heel, with a 25mm platform (about 12.5mm hidden, and 12.5mm showing). Sorry for the poor quality - taken with a phone. They look much better in the flesh.

She looks absolutely stunning and amazing in them!!!

The new Harrods shoe boudoir is uber cool as well. All black walls, and black sheer curtains, with a couple of private booths either side of the counter to try on shoes.

I've also attached a few of her other favourites.

Pink Brian Atwood (125mm, no platform) , Louboutin Declic (140mm heel & hidden 10mm platform) and lastly RoSa ultra pointed courts with an ultra slim (125mm) heel.
