  1. Try these from Office, they also do an ankle boot as well

run a bit small but not to bad

Boy, the women truly do get ALL the options in life don't they? Men at some time will be masters of their footwear fate. The fault dear Brutus is not in the women, but in the men that they are dingalings. LOL

Sorry.. Couldn't resist ripping off Shakespeare to make the point that men alone are to blame for their limited footwear and clothing options.

  2. Thanks Jay Jay, but I'm sure I'm not the originator. There was a time when we could buy men's bell bottoms, but that was when I was in my late teens in the early 80's. Now it's necessary to buy women's jeans to get them. I've been wearing women's jeans for years now and have never had one single comment from anywhere. I don't try to look feminine at all either though.. They sure are great for wearing higher heeled boots! I've never had a comment about those either other than from people who thought they were cool. I'm actually known at work for my cool boots. Charlie

  3. I normally go in the 3" range, but today I thought I'd wear my 4" heeled western boots from Miguel's BootUSA store on ebay to work. I've attached a picture of a very similar pair only mine are narrower heels that are tapered down more on the left and right side such that the bottom portion of the heel that makes direct contact with the ground is about 1 3/4" by 1 3/4". I've never been much of a showman as far as showing the heels goes and have always figured that if I wear long flared jeans that cover the heels there's still the challenge of walking in them properly without anyone taking notice. I've gotten very good at it to the point that I forget I'm wearing them! I can carry an open cup of coffee up a couple of flights of stairs effortlessly even though I don't do the 4" heels all too often. I don't know about doing that with a book balanced on my head though.. LOL Charlie

  4. What are we supposed to be looking at? All I can get from that link is a Homepage which won't give me anything else....no search results, nothing..??

I think this is because of your server in the UK? I sometimes run into this in the reverse so I bought some IP address changing software and when I route through a UK server, I'll get a page I couldn't get otherwise.

  5. Thanks Bubba! One thing I like more with Miguel's boots than the Western Ranch ones I've purchased in the past is that he uses a softer rubber heel pad. I'm not one for 'clicking' when I walk, but I'll bet there are an equal number if not a greater number of people who would feel the opposite. Charlie

  6. I have about the same feeling... 3" to 3.5" is nothing, but 4"+ takes a minute to get feeling right... I think that if I had shoes or boots with a well made 4"+ heel with the right arch, I would be fine...

I like Miguels boots.. I have a pair with the 5" heels, which are very well made, but the sizing on mine is way off, so i'm a bit apprehensive about buying another pair... I'd really like a pair of his 4" heel boots.. oh, what to do...

You're not kidding about the sizing issues. Making the vamp correct for a good fit is critical and becomes even more critical when heel height is increased. I found that the sizing was fine for the 3" heeled boots, but the 4" ones required a vamp stretcher to make them truly comfortable. For anything above a 3" heel from Miguel, I go to a size 10. Size 9 1/2 is fine for 3" heeled boots. Either way, Miguel is very good about exchanges as I did this with the 4" heeled boots. The unfortunate thing, however, was that I really liked the style of the first pair that was just too tight.

  7. My latest passion is the high heeled boots made by Miguel in Mexico.

They are so well made for the price! I have 3 pairs, but primarily wear either the 3" heeled ones with a pointy toe or to a lesser degree, the 4" heeled ones with a rounded toe. What I personally notice is that I can put on the 3" heeled boots and immediately walk comfortably like any other boot of the same or lower heel height. The 4" ones, however, take me a few minutes to get used to. The first few steps it feels like my tendons are in the process of compressing and once they do I get my stride and am perfectly comfortable all day long. A 4" heel height is about my limit. I notice this even when I've worn them all day long for several days in a row. Do the rest of you notice a short delay before being comfortable after first putting on a pair of heels at or near your maximum comfortable heel height or is it just me?

  8. I like the increase in height. I'm 5'6" barefoot and 2", 3", or 4" heels better still get me to the height that nature didn't. It's not really about being feminine per say for me though. I'm happy on a stacked chunky heel and my latest passion is western boots with a 3" to 4" underslung heel. Charlie

  9. No, none of the boots I bought from Miguel are custom. They were all off the rack so to speak. I wear a size 9 to size 10 (men's) boot depending on the boot design. Miguel's boots vary in that of the three pairs I own, I have two 9.5's and my latest pair is a 10. I would recommend going a size larger than normal with Miguel's boots. I don't know if he'll make a custom spiked heel version, but would think that this kind of boot is easy to find from many other sources? Ask him though. If you buy from Miguel and the boots aren't a good fit, he's very good about exchanging them. I had to do this with my latest pair as the first pair he sent me were too tight. His boots will also require a breaking in period as is normal with leather cowboy style boots in most cases. Good luck. Charlie

  10. These are my new boots that are actually Made in Mexico, but are of very nice quality. There are at least as nice as my Western Ranch Boots even though my Western Ranch Boots were actually tailor made to my feet, and these were just made by size alone. I wore these last night right after they arrived by UPS and they are very comfotable and fit very nicely right out of the box. The finish is very nice, though I will add a few coats of polish to help preserve the finish. But for the price I am EXTREMELY happy!

They are made by Miguel Jones, and his boots are listed on e-bay. I have just asked him to build me another pair with a 4.5 inch heel. It did take a few months to get my boots, so be patient with him, but the boots are FANTASTIC!!! Simple, yet elegant and are high heel, but don't look out of proportion at all to me. I hope you like the pictures that I posted above. There are 9 new pics of my new boots. I have not even added a layer of polish yet.

    His e-bay store is;

Yup. I discovered him myself a year or so ago. I have a 5.5" heeled pointed toe (tough to walk in for me), 3" black pointed toe (can wear all day), and just recently received a 4" heeled black pair with western stitching on the shaft in black. Very comfortable and at the limit of heel height that I can manage well. His prices are good and he's pleasant to deal with.

  11. I just ordered a new pair of boots. Can't wait to get them! I love the look of the leather on these!! Conserfative no doubt, but stylish IMHO... (attached, hope it worked!)

    Charlie

Bummer! These boots came in, and what they call 'size 11' was more like a size 10! I could barely get my feet into them... :-(

On a positive note, the Steve Madden return authorization procedure is a snap and one need just print out the pre-paid USPD label and drop them off at any post office. Best policy I've seen.

Anyway.... I went with the pair pictured below. We'll see... I actually like these better! :-)

  12. For that confidence building first time out, go with something a little conservative and wear a long flair-legged jean that covers the heels. The most important thing is to be nonchalant about it. If you're confident, that's really all you need. You'll see how little people actually pay attention. If a guy spots them, (rare) then you can be reasonably assured that he wishes he had the balls you have. If a girl does, they're usually pretty cool about it. Take it up a notch or two at your own pace until you get to where you want to be. It's not hard. Good luck! Charlie

  13. It's been quite awhile since I've been around JeffB... Remember me? Good to see you're still out and about doing your thing! Is Quartz still around? Used to love reading about his adventures as well! Charlie

  14. I think that they ask that particular question more as an ice breaker than anything else. It isn't everyday that they see a guy wearing heels like that, and they probably want to explore what makes the wearer tick. The fact that your shoes are quite stylish Jeff only fuels the fire. Only print the business cards if you don't have time to engage in conversation. Otherwise, enjoy the moment!

  15. One thing I like about the Structure stores is that their low rise bootcut styles are not limited to just jeans. I bought two pairs of really nice dress pants with this cut while at the mall a few weeks ago. Now some of my cooler chunky, higher heeled boots look good in a more dressy scenario. I've never cared for the look of these boots with the usual straight leg cut of most men's dress pants................. Charlie

  16. It all sounds to me like the age-old theory of narrowly defining what is "normal" and forcing everyone to conform so that the mental midgets of the world don't get confused. It's also kind of scary when the place where we send kids to learn new ideas and ways of looking at things openly forbids that which they teach. Oh well, the good news is that progress usually finds detours around mental blocks. After all, progress is inevitable. Charlie

  17. You make a valid point Nicole, but in the end, unless you personally know the individual(s) trying on the shoes, it's still speculation as to whether or not they're TV's. Of course, some would argue that simply wearing heels makes a guy a TV ......... (I'm not going to open up THAT can of worms again!) Charlie

  18. Here's the list of shoes/boots (condensed) I choose from for my daily wear: 1) 4" chunky heeled mid-platform mules. 2) 4" chunky heeled mid-platform ankle boots. (black pair and brown pair) 3) 3.5" chunky heeled mid-platform ankle boots. 4) 3" chunky heeled mid-platform calf high boots. (beige pair and black pair) 5) 4" medium chunky heeled mid-platform knee high boots. 6) 3" wedge heeled shoes with monk strap. 7) 3" heeled mid-platform shoes. Note: mid-platform means platform sole at or below 1" in thickness. You'll notice that I don't have stiletto heeled anything. I also don't wear blade heeled anything. This isn't because I'm afraid to, but rather, I don't think they would add anything to my look. I simply don't own ANY shoes that I'm not willing to wear in public. I think you'll also find that the majority of those who post here wear whatever style(s) they like in public regularly too. Charlie
