  1. Have fun and TAKE PHOTOS! Be careful not to overdo it. If you aren't used to walking distances in heels, you might find your ankles and the balls of your feet hurt after a while. Getting blisters or a bum ankle is no fun, so watch how much you wear heels and change into flats if you start to ache.

  2. Pumped,

Exactly! That is a "foot in the door" so to speak! It sounds like she knows you like heels and she is doing her best to accommodate you. So wear non-femme heels like that around her and she'll get used to it. You can stretch the envelope a little now and then, but watch her body language and keep her in her comfort zone. Back off if she hesitates. Make sure she knows that she is #1 and the shoes are a distant #2. Over time, you'll be wearing shoes that are more femme, but take baby steps at first! Good work!

  3. Someday somebody will invent a computer that does what you MEAN instead of what you tell it to do. That person will make a lot of money!

In the meantime, I suggest that everybodi prrofread bettter.

  4. Wow, that's progress, Pumped! Buy those heels immediately and when you get them, wear them and show her how much her approval means to you. With that kind of positive feedback, maybe she'll agree to your requests more often. Don't push too hard or too fast, though. Take lots of slow "baby steps" and keep her in her comfort zone. It may take you 20 years to get where you want, but the journey together will be worth it. Keep reporting your progress!

    Good luck!

  5. Heelster,

Inquisitor is in the St. Louis area. PM him and see if you can hook up with him.

I used to live there (zip code 63130) back in the 60s and still have family there. We might be going back for a reunion in mid-June if you're back there then. Or we could meet in Ohio! LOL

  6. Preston,

Your idea to call the hotline is a good one. It sounds to me like your mother is not sympathetic to your situation. Maybe you need to have a heart-to-heart talk with her and tell her the whole truth about your love for women's shoes (or more if it goes further). If you have gender dysphoria, you need some serious counseling. Let your mother know so you can get started on the right path.

  7. I used to have that problem, but I adapted to clogs and sandals. Try them. They're a great alternative to boots. Wear them under longish jeans if you're self-conscious about being seen. Sandals in particular are cool and comfortable and you can get styles such as White Mountain, Born, and other brands that have clog-like construction which isn't super femme. Two of many examples below.

  8. You really should have gone up to the guy trying on heels and struck up a conversation:

"Hi, I'm <first name> and I see you're shopping for high heels, too. I'm glad to see another guy doing that. Are your from around here?"

Or something like that. Maybe he saw you, too, and would have liked to have met you? Maybe not. Never hurts to offer to chat and see.

Thanks for posting about your time in public. It gets easier every time and pretty soon you'll wonder why you didn't do it years ago!

  9. TSA scans zillions of carry-on bags and has seen it all. They're looking for bombs and weapons, not shoes. They usually don't even associate the bag with the owner. You really don't have a thing to worry about. I've worn heels and carried heels through screening many times and nobody cares about them. Just act confident. If you act nervous, they could detect that and pull you out for additional screening.

  10. Preston,

Just tell the truth. Plain and simple. It's your money you used, and the Litas are men's shoes, are they not? If you meet resistance, and your parents don't understand, explain it to them and show them this web site if they're interested and willing to listen. Don't forget, they did strange and crazy things in fashion in their day, too! If they are dead set against you wearing heels in their house, then you have no choice but to respect their wishes, and do your heeling elsewhere. But if you explain it to them and they are accepting, then wow! You have the best situation possible - heeling with their knowledge and tolerance if not blessing. Who knows, maybe your dad is a closet heeler and you've got the gene from him? How cool would that be?

Under no circumstance should you lie, fib, tell half truths, exaggerate or make up stuff. Respect your parents. And let us know how it goes. It might be easier than you think, you never know. Once the Litas are accepted, and I hope they are, you can expand your heeling from there. The door is wide open! Good luck!

  11. Trademarking a color is not new. Back in the 70s or early 80s, Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corp. (its name back then) successfully trademarked the color pink for its building insulation. No one else could produce and sell pink building insulation. They also had a marketing genius who hired the cute and loveable Pink Panther to promote their product and achieve brand recognition!

So, yes, trademarking a color for a product like Louboutin shoes is legitimate, and in this case, a good investment.

  12. On the other foot, I can't WAIT for warm weather to get here so I can wear heeled sandals! I probably have 40-50 pair. A few years ago I never wore sandals. Then I started experimenting and found I really love them! I even wear them inside in the winter time at home. But when spring is here, like it is today - shirtsleeve weather, partly sunny, breezy - I love my sandals. Most are in the 3-3.5 inch range in heel height, and most have a block or stacked heel, or a clog or wedge type of heel that is integral with the sole. Today, for example, I'm wearing Born "Timia" sandals in brown with a 3 inch heel. Very comfortable!
