  1. Bluejay,

I haven't seen a review from you on the Naturalizer Daquiri sandals you bought. Have you had a chance to wear them yet? How do you like them?

    Steve

    Steve,

Yesterday, Sunday May 20, 2012, I wore my new Naturalizer "Daquiri" sandals for the first time. It was a very warm day and I paired them with capris and a polo shirt combo for the day (Read my post , Heeling with bluejay). Later that afternoon I wore them with a pair of shorts and made a post about them on the General Fashion Thread "Wearing heels and shorts". I did like them very much and they were very comfortable to wear. Even my wife agreed. I tried to post a review on the Naturalizer site about them but was unable to do so. I will notify Naturalizer about that problem. I posted a review recently on Aerosoles "Tapestry" red pumps which I bought recently from ShoeBuy.com, but have not seen that review posted as yet. In that review I thanked Aerosoles for making their shoes appealing to men too. I hope that the review will be posted on their site.

  2. My wife and I had to travel to another city, 150 miles away to attend a dinner honoring a friend of ours for his dedicated service to Military Veterans, on Saturday. It was a warm day, so to travel in I wore my black "Metro-Stlye cropped jeans with an orange, Izod polo shirt and a pair of Aerosoles black mules with a 2" block heel. We entered the hotel where we were staying and were directed to the hospitality room by some of our other friends that were there for the dinner. I did observe a few people staring at me , but since my wife was with me (she was dressed in capris and her new White Mountain "Ferry" sandals, with 2" block heels, that I had bought her for Mother's Day), the stares were just stares. We enjoyed a few cocktails with our friends before we went to our room to change for the dinner. We had to dress up for dinner I wore a Dark grey suit with lilac colored shirt and a very purple colored iridesent tie and yes a pair of Mens dress shoes(UGH), but they do have about a 1-3/4" heel on them. The dinner went off fine and we enjoyed ourselves very much. After the dinner we returned to the party room for some additional libation. It was well after 2am when we returned to our room to go to sleep. In the elevator, a women commented to me about my tie and shirt color combination and how nice it looked on me. Then she said "real men wear purple" upon which I said "real men wear any color including, pink", and thanked her for her comment. My wife was smiling because she had just given me that tie a couple of weeks ago as a gift from her. I also told the woman that it was a gift from my wife and I was wearing it for the first time, as purple is a very favorite color of my wife. Another woman in the elevator commented that her husband would never wear a color combination like I had on, upon which I replied "thats his loss". My wife also commented to her " I like to see my husband in a lot of color and the day of the white only dress shirt for men was very passe". We awoke to a beautiful day and we decided to go to a suggested dinner for for a late morning breakfast as it was already noon and we both wanted to eat breakfast before we would leave for the return trip home. Fortunately this dinner served breakfast on weekends until 2pm. This morning I chose to wear my Dockers kahki pants which I have tailered to capri lenghts in several different colors, with an Izod polo shirt in lilac color and my new Naturalizer "Daquiri" sandals (first time wearing out) with a 3-1/2" stacked heel. My wife was comfortable with my look so we left the hotel. We entered the dinner, it was quite crowded today. After a short wait we were seated and the waitress who was very fashionably dressed for this type of dinner came to take our order. Her first comment to me was I really like your jewelry that you have on this morning (I had my usual assortment of finger rings, necklase with matching bracelet and anklet on my right leg}, she continued " I like to see men who like to wear jewelry". I thanked her very for her very positive comments. I was hoping that she would notice my capris and heels I was also wearing as I did have them on somewhat of a view underneath of the table. She took our order and within a very few minutes she served us our breakfast's. The food was excellent. After we finished eating she brought me the check, very reasonable price for what we had to eat. As we got up to pay the bill at the front counter I handed her a very generous tip. She thanked me and said in a soft voice "I like your capri pants and your heels, they look very nice on you" I thanked her very much for her comments and told her that I have worn heels for years and my wife is comfortable with it. I also said that we have matching pairs of heels that we sometimes wear out together. She replied "I like that". I paid the bill and left for our trip home. It was a very enjoyable trip for both my wife and myself. Happy Heeling, bluejay P.S. read about my late afternoon heeling event of the "General Fashion" thread "Shorts and Heels"

  3. JeffB, Great jaunts you had. You looked very stunning in your dress and heels. I also liked your flats you wore with your skirt. Flats do have a place in a wardrobe, as I have several pair of "Georgio Butini" men's designer shoes that look more like women's flats then men's shoes. Again Great looks! Happy Heeling, bluejay

  4. Hello. this is a perfect 100th post for me.

I needed to go to Lowe's to get some screws plus is wanted to go to the local Payless. Since i was going to be trying on sandels I of course needed to paint my toes. so I painted them a pink color. However i don't have the "balls" to go into such a manly place as Lowe's with heels on but i did go in with flip flops and painted toes. Not one look or comment. I then went to Payless. I slipped on my crisscross striped wedge heels which perfectly showed my fresh paint and went inside. there were 3 women working and all of them were on the asle i was on. They greeted me and asked if i needed any help. There selection was terrible in 12's so i looked for a few minutes then left. All the women wished me a good day, and i did them. However once i got to the truck then my heart started racing. my right foot was shaking so bad i could bearly drive LOL. Arent you supossed to be scared before you go out in publc? Anyway a long rant but fun never the less. If you want to see the shoes i wore i put a pic of them on here a while back. Thanks for reading.

I wear heels when I go to Lowes sometimes. Most people are too busy with their shopping to notice. One time I did get this negative comment from this macho guy wearing cowboy boots in Lowes, when he said "those are real pretty shoes you are wearing" upon which I countered him with, "nice earring your wearing", end of conservation!

  5. Heels and shorts have a place in your wardrobe if you like the look. Today was a very warm afternoon with temps in the low 90's . I decided to wear a pair of shorts (men's) Docker's in kahki color with a Izod polo shirt in lilac and my new Naturalizer "Daquiri" heeled sandals with a 3-1/2" stacked heel in a color that matched my shorts. I looked in my full length mirror before I left, the look was alright, but I wished that my shorts had more of a fitted look than they were. They were a little baggy dut not so much as some men's shorts. I did have to make some stops I did not get any negative reaction to a guy out in heels and shorts. I did get some stares and maybe second glances, but that's the chance you take when your heels are fully exposed. Happy Heeling , bluejay

  6. This is just cute. I saw this in one of the Google ads at the top of this site and had to check it out. The fine folks at 3M have been getting creative, now your Scotch tape can wear heels too!

Here is a link to the page. It appears only the black stiletto and red wedge are available now, with others coming "Real Soon Now".

    jmc,

I saw that same tape dispenser at Office Max a few weeks ago. Last week I also saw it at Walmart. I am going to buy one for my desk the next time Office Max has their 20% off bag sale. It will look nice setting on my desk, to remind me how much I like to wear high heels!

  7. Thursday, May 17, 2012 I had to go to Kay's Jewelers tonight, so I made it a heeling event. I wore my black DKNY skinny jeans, with a red Izod polo shirt and my new Aersoloes "Tapestry" red patent leather pumps with a 3-1/2" stacked heel and black knee-hi hose. Tonight you really could see my heels along with the black hose. I also wore my usuall assortment of jewelry . As I entered the store I was greeted by name, as I am on a first name basis with all the clerks. I said hello to two clerks and went to the counter to take care of a repair p/u. One of the clerks came over to me and said "I like your red shoes, they sure do look good on you". I said "Thanks" they are my new Aerosoles red patent leather pumps. The other clerk agreed too. She also said that " I see you are wearing nylons too" She said that she does not like to wear nylons with her heels, especially in the warmer weather. I told her that I like the feel of hosery on my legs and feet, wearing my heels. I said that I wear all types of hosery including knee-hi's, thigh-hi's, pantyhose and suspender pantyhose and trouser socks too. I then lifted my pant leg to show her my anklet in gold which matched my necklase and bracelet, I was wearing. She asked was it from Kay's? I said of course. You shortened a necklase to fit my ankle, so it would match my necklase and bracelet. She replied " I had never thought of that" That gives me ideas for me to get a matching anklet for some of my jewelry. I said" go do it". We continued talking about fashions as the store was not busy and it was close to closing time. I picked up my repair for my wife and bid them a "Good Night". They replied "see you soon". As I left the store I had a good feeling about tonight's heeling event! Happy Heeling, bluejay

  8. Liveandlearn. Nice boots with the stiletto heel. I have a pair just like them. I got them from NineWest a couple years ago. I like them very much and I do wear them sometimes. The stiletto heels are sometimes hard to walk on for me as I am used to more sturdy type of heel. I do wear 4-5" heels at times. Happy Heeling, bluejay

  9. Ilikekicks, I am sure your statements are true. With all the heeling I have done, I have had stares, a few doubletakes, but only one negative comment from some macho guy in Lowes who was wearing cowboy boots who said something about my pretty shoes, when I countered him with the earring he was wearing. That ended that. (somewhere there is a post about that incident, on this thread) I have had many compliments from women on my heels and my choice of clothing that I wear. Happy Heeling, bluejay

  10. Well it's been a while since I posted a heeling event, even though I have been out heeling a couple times each week. On Friday night, May 11, 2012 I went heeling to a Funeral Home to pay respects to a long time friend who recently died of Cancer. I wore dark brown Dockers pants, bright yellow dress shirt with a tie, tan light weight jacket and paired that with my" Born", tan colored heeled clogs with brown trouser socks. I had never worn heels to a Funeral Home so this was a first for me. I entered and went to offer my condolences to the widow. I have known this couple for over 40 years. She was very upset that her husband of over 40 years had died so suddenly. I expressed my sympathy to her and went up to the casket knelt down on the kneeler and said a prayer for my friend. While I was kneeling I knew that my heels were fully exposed to everyone that was behind me. There were probably 25-30 people there. I only knew a couple of them. After I got up from the kneeler I spoke to a couple of others that I knew there , about the untimely death of my friend. I did not observe any unusual looks or stares as I gazed about the room. Apparently no one noticed my heels that I was wearing. I signed the guest record an left. I had to make a stop a the supermarket to pick up a few things. While I was in one of the aisles I ran into the son and girlfriend of another friend of mine. We started a conservation about the deceased because the son's father and mother also knew the deceased. I observed his girlfriend staring down at my shoes but I made no big deal about it. (They are both in their late 30's). I said good night to them and went down the aisle to finish my shopping. I went to the check-out of one of the cashiers that knows me and has seen me in heels before. After she finished ringing up my sale she looked to see my shoes, "Nice heels she said". I thanked her for her comment. I left the store without any further looks or comments. Another heeling event even though it was not a happy event for me. Happy Heeling, bluejay

  11. Steve, I logged on the Channel 5 News site on your post and read the report on your Manihose. I think that it came across ok. Only one comment on the news article so far. At least you got your point across about the benefit of weating Manihose. Thanks for the time you spent on that report. Happy Heeling, bluejay

  12. JeffB, You had two nice outings, this past weekend. Your outfits looked very nice. I especially liked the off white skort and royal blue shirt. That is also a favorite color combination of mine. I like to wear the royal blue shirts with white pants, cropped jeans and white capris but I still have to wait to after Memorial Day to wear white! (I might hear from some fashion fashinato that white slacks, capris or shorts are for the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Ha Ha.) Happy Heeling, bluejay

  13. ABC has made a little progress. An affiliate station WEWS Channel 5 TV from Cleveland has visited me and done an hour long interview on the subject of men's legwear - tights, pantyhose, stockings, etc. - which will no doubt be edited to about 30 seconds. I've done a lot of radio and TV interviews before, but I was impressed by the reporter, who asked a lot of good serious questions. I'm always concerned the story will somehow be twisted to try to be funny (it's usually sophomoric humor - Robin Hood, men in tights, that sort of thing), and I warned the producer that it's been done before and they'd do much better with a serious angle (wearing hose for benefits as opposed to fashion). We'll see what they come up with. But remember, their primary goal is to entertain; their secondary goal is to report news. The story is supposed to air at 11 pm on Thursday, May 10, and it should be posted on their web site.

I'll try to email Cassandra this week and see if Nightline has any interest in pursuing a story on high heels. Could be she's a bit freaked out, who knows?

    Steve

Steve. I am hoping that this article of yours will be on ABC Nightline on Thursday, May 10, 2012. I certainly will be looking forward to watching this on Thursday night.

  14. Steve, nice looking clogs. After re-reading JeffB post, I think he was referring to the Dansko Clogs in the picture from their professional line of clogs. Those clogs are for work. Nurses, Doctors, Chefs tend to wear those type of clogs along with other people who have to stand on their feet for long periods of time. They are comfortable to wear, as my wife will attest to that. Now their open back and heeled line of clogs are attractive and I do wear them often. I also have some heeled clogs from Born and Naturalizer, which I like to wear also. Happy Heeling, bluejay

  15. JeffB, I agree with you about flip flops, but I take exception to your remarks on Dansko clogg. I have a few pair of open back Dansko cloggs which I consider to be heel worthy. I also have 3 pair of real heeled Dansko clogs which are very fashionable and have brought many comments when I am wearing them. I have the heeled clogs in black, brown and red. 16. Bluejay, I'd love to handout more compliments to women here more but unfortunately most just don't wear heels at all. To top it off they just let themselves go. The land of no maintenance women. They don't even try. Once in a while though I'm pleasantly surprised.

Shafted, I agree with you about the flip flops and Uggs. I even bought a pair of generic style of Uggs this past winter. I did wear them a few times. They did keep my feet warm and they looked ok with my skinny jeans tucked inside but I also wore some stylish clothes with them.

As far as flip flops go, I don't even own a pair of them. I do have some pairs of stylish sandals that I wear. For beach and pool wear I have a couple pairs of "Lands End" slide sandals, which are by far much better looking than those gross flip flops.

In my area I do see women in heels quite a bit, but not always. When I do see a woman nicely dressed and in heels, I like to compliment her on her appearance. Most women like to get those compliments even if it was from a stranger!

    Happy Heeling,

    bluejay
