No, it's all about scoring woke points by playing nice to the alphabet mafia. They don't give a rat's ass about men as customers, no one gives a rat's ass about men anyway, but getting woke likes from the blue twitter checkmarks, that's like bitcoin to these companies. Although we should be glad that as a side effect we can get some of these shoes in our size finally. I'd LOVE to have a size 43 or 44 size Anouk.

And I thought I was cynical 😎 Trust me, corporations drop LGBT stuff as soon as June ends. It’s gotten to be a joke in our community.

  2. I will say the sales people at Jimmy Choo stores have been very friendly and have been happy to let me try pairs on if they have my size (40 pumps, 41 boots). I have a few pairs of both that are quite comfortable, but I usually get them for about 1/5th MSRP used.

  3. @mlroseplantI actually used Gay or Minden pointe shoes inside the boots to provide proper support for my feet. I then packed the empty toe area between the inside tip of the boot and the pointe shoe I’m order to keep the boot from getting crushed and causing the heel to angle forward. Sadly my second toe is a bit longer then the rest, and it kept taking all the stress. After I lost my second toenail I lost a lot of interest in ballet heels.

Rockpup : If and when you are out and about in those ballets, Do you get a different reaction from people than when you wear five (5) or (6) inch high heels ? MikeDSCF5324.thumb.JPG.e0443835e5aa264b5b87ee3c74009b28.JPG

The only time I get interaction about heels are when I wear heels 3-3.75”. If I wear 4” or higher I just seem to get odd side eye looks.

  5. It took me a few years to be able to move around without issue wearing ballet boots. As others have said, it’s best to level out the heel so it is vertical when standing. I also used a pointe shoe inside to fortify the toe box of the boot with hood success.

Even at my best walking was a bit clumsy.

I ordered a used pair of Fifi 120’s from Vestiaire collective. They just passed quality control and should be here next week. I’m looking forward to getting them as I love my 100mm pair.

Breaking these in. Already far more comfortable then when I got them. Just need to be careful not to over stretch them.

Definitely something to be said for a pair of comfortable heels, especially if doing any amount of walking in them.  Nice looking pump.

Not going to lie, these may be the most comfortable heel’s I’ve ever had. Well worth checking out if there is a shop near you.

  8. To buy new or on sale in a store, I’ve been really happy with Cole Haan. My most comfortable heels ‘used’ with a 85% markdown has been Jimmy Choo. If you can find a pair for under $100, they are worth it, even though that is still a lot. Their 85-100mm heels have been my go-to for a while, as they don’t seem to come apart like many others I’ve tried.

I got in a wattage meter today & started testing the appliances I expect I would use during an outage. My space heater is the biggest power hog, at 1385 watts. My 3 little heat traces pull way less than that combined, so 2200 watts should be enough to keep me going if this happens again. During the summer I would use a portable AC unit. I will test it when I pull it out of the closet in a few weeks, but they dont pull near as much as a heater does, so I should be set for summer uses as well. I might even be able to run my little Lincoln mig welder with it, make it a portable welder.

I used an amp meter and checked the lines coming into the house with a higher then average load. I ended up buying a 15000 watt generator the day hurricane Katrina went over Florida.

  10. Decided that while out and about in 4” heels can be fun, if I am going to be wearing them more often I should also get a practical pair. Got a deal on a pair of Cole Haan ‘Grand Ambition’ pumps in black leather. They are well padded and have a 3” heel. They feel low, considering the pair I wore to the mall to try them had 3-5/8” heels. Sales girl seemed amazed at how at ease I am in heels. *shrug*

I probably could have gone to 4 inch heels, not gonna lie. I’d rather start with 2.5 then work up, especially as I want to be able to walk in a stiletto heel. I’d rather start small, after 6-12 months go for a 3-4 inch stiletto. I’d rather be comfortable doing so and look effortless in walking.

I doubt you will need that long. Do not be surprised if you order another pair before March ;)

Yup. 4" probably feels like 3" to us, 5"to 4" etc. 6" seems to be my limit these days.

A lot of shoes state their heel height for a specific size, so a 120mm heel in size 41 might be 100 in 35. Don’t get too hung up on height measurements being absolute.

I have one pair of Cole Haan pumps that say they are 100mm, but they feel lower then a pair of Jimmy Choo’s I found online.
