Definitely notice the shift in posture with heels. As you say, heels were worn by noblemen in times past as a means of enhancing their stature and confidence - as women do today. I doubt stilettos will ever come into vogue for men, but I could certainly see 3-4 inch block or cuban heels making a comeback

That’s what they said yesterday. Almost 20 years in retail on hard concrete floors, standing for most of the around 8 hours a day will do it. Plus another 10+ years of carrying a heavy school and college bag on my bag will do more damage. My old school didn’t have lockers so for about 3 hours a day we all had 22kg bags on our backs. On a careers day the armed forces stand weighed some of our bags and they were more than the maximum allowed in the UK military.

Men who also do a lot of sitting in a office setting will see more damage. They said that they will do damage unless they have access to a sit/stand desk.

Theres a time bomb coming from the obesity pandemic, that’s fact. There is another coming in back health.

I had two ingrown toenails "fixed" with surgery.  My podiatrist know I wear heels and she wants me at leash 2.5 inch (or higher) because of the shape of my arch.

    "Just following doctor's orders."

This podiatrist suggested 3-4 inches. No higher than 4 but no less than 3. Not needed now, but within the next 3-4 years I’ll be in heels for most of my days off work. I’ve to keep my weight consistent and keep doing my 5K minimum walks/runs at the same time.

Its going to be a lifestyle thing. At least I will be able to wear many cute boot styles now. Sometimes maybe a pump in the summer.

I’ve found that heels ease back problems

Lower back issues especially. That’s where most of my wear and tear is.

  3. I was at the podiatrist today, ingrown toenail. Got loads of pointers from them.

However, they just don’t do that, he suggested that in the next few years I’ll have to do two things, first one is change my job to something a bit more sedentary, something where I can sit for half the day and not be on my feet for 8-9 hours a day like retail. The other they said was to wear a shoe with a heel because of the damage my body has taken over the years of working in retail. He said to go no higher than 4 inches as that’s where the damage can co the other way. He said those heights are not for now, oh so little does he know.

I suppose that courage will have to be built over the next few years. And that I have that glorious world of more stunning shoes and boots to look forward buy. Might even eventually get a couple nice of pair of stiletto pumps.

Are you suggesting that the boots were a mismatched pair (regardless of any size markings), or only that your body is the problem?   I ask because I know someone who was certainly sent two mismatched boots by ASOS (in another style, about a year ago) but he found that they fitted his slightly different feet perfectly!   Are you sending yours back?

I’m suggesting that they are a little, but also I am nit symmetrical at the same time. It seems as if they are maybe a margin of error out, that 10-12mm and that is exaggerated by my calf muscles. It may be a bit of both.

Yet, any woman's pair I have tried doesn’t have a mismatch.

The other thing I hated on them was the immensely hard and heavy heel. Everything about them was either okay or not quite there, like the lack of lining inside the boot.

  5. Well… I got those Asos mens boots with the 3.5 inch under slung heel. One was too big, one was too small. Right was too big on the sole and footbed. However the left boot opening  is about a half inch too small and doesn’t zip to the top.

It’s fun to now discover my body is very asymmetrical, something I knew. Not gonna cry, I’ll find boots that fit me at some point.

How could any guy not like a woman im heels. I don't get that at all.

He is 5ft 8, she is about a inch shorter, he has a napoleon complex in the terms of no one he dates can be taller than he. There’s men who don’t like their woman taller than them.

Me, she can wear whatever she likes. If she wants to wear a heel with jeans, trousers or any skirt she has the god given right to do so. I want the best version of any woman I can get.

  7. Yup, and it’s a no from me.

As I work in a environment where I can see up to 7,000 a day, they have been coming into the amount coming in increasing. Plus the old brothel creeper shoes, or at least that’s what they were called in 1960 and 1970s Glasgow.

Its a worrying trend, but a trend none the less. I have, and am pleased to report on my basic daily viewings, that more heels are being worn by women. When I asked one woman who I’d never seen wear a splendid pair of 4 inch black stiletto boots before, the reply was this: “well, I take 3 fold, I just split up with my boyfriend and he hated me in heels, the fact I like them and I am doing it for me, plus I’m starting a new job soon where heels whilst are not a requirement it’s looked on more favourable to wear them. I’m looking forward to spending 10 hours a day in heels”

She said that she has heels now for “every outfit, work and play”

If it’s a start to normalise heels on men, I’m all for it. Just not taking part in it.

There is a very slight difference between UK and US men sizing, both systems use different starting points. But it is only a quarter of a size.

Traditional sizing you are correct, it’s only 2.45mm of a difference. However most woman's sizing now has gone to mens sizes for the likes of trainers and hiking boots. However for heels and traditional shoes some now use a hybrid start point that’s the case of a 1.1mm difference. That’s what I was lead to believe.

In other news, awoke this morning to a Asos notification that a pair of their mens heels are back in stock. So I have a pair with that heel that folk don’t like on their way.

  9. Read something that Jessica Simpson has just recently recovered full control of her brand name and use of her name as a trademark and copyright. She just needs to see a few deals finish in the next year to eighteen months and she will be reviewing and replacing lots on her stores.

She may start to design her own shoes and her own stuff. The hard work of getting her name back has finished. The hard work of actual ownership and making it a success have just begun.

    Thanks; we seem to agree!

Did you see these from ASOS; most sizes listed in standard and wide frit, and discounted to £68.00 today:     https://www.asos.com/asos-design/asos-design-heeled-chelsea-boots-in-black-leather-platform-sole/prd/200859533?colourwayid=200859538&cid=4209

Saw them, do t like the sole at the front. Too thick for my liking.

I like these ones better, less thick on the front platform, plus the look of the laces.

However, I saw these and I like them, albeit I don’t like a square toe. I like a pointed toe then a round toe.

I did get a pair of Nine West Cacey 9X9 boots about 4-6 weeks ago, that were too narrow, tried them on recently and they fit, albeit a quarter size tight, the leather could stretch. Those are bad ass bitch heels for a bad bitch time!

I assume the words in bold mean 'and see how popular they become'?

I doubt that your numbers are correct; ASOS is not going to commission very short runs of anything as that would not be economic.   To sell at the relatively modest prices, the factory orders must be in the hundreds per size from the outset, surely?   But repeat orders (if any) could omit the less popular sizes.   I am however somewhat surprised that certain styles which seemed to sell-out quite quickly have not been repeated (or replaced with something similar).

Exactly. I was lost for words there.

You may be right on the volumes, maybe add a zero or two after my figures for some sizes.

  12. What I find ASOS sometimes do is start off with a few in each style, maybe 2-3 in the smaller and larger sizes with 5-7 pairs in the more median sizes, leave them up to get hearted by folk, they can then see how many folk want the style from there and then go and make maybe 40-50 of that number in batch two and a final small run batch at the end.

It’s interesting to see when they become available. I’m looking to see if their 4 inch lug sole boot comes back. Or if they come back with something similar.

This explains all those videos of people launching Bottle Rockets from their behinds.

Or putting flares in there at a Euro 2020 final when their Country reaches said final.

Humans do some weird stuff, from inserting things into places they shouldn’t go (Jackass Toy Car stunt) to wearing things on our feet. Running towards danger. Running away at times when we are needed.

I suppose that’s why some of us go to the gym or go for a run/walk/swim to punish ourselves, other than fitness, others go to a head doctor, some sleep with others for payment or some folk want humiliation in a dungeon or have a mummy need. Some need plastic surgery or some need to be instantly gratification watching hollow reality TV.

We all have something wrong with us, none of us are perfect. This is something that should be celebrated and not put in a bottle in the back of your head, locked away.

We are all individuals. Some of us need to wear heels, some just want to and have fun doing so. I suppose that’s my reason, because I can. And it helps with back pain is a bonus.

  14. There is a global supply chain shortage at the moment. Building materials and semi conductors are the largest hit, many other items are also being tanked. The Evergreen Evergiven in the Suez incident is still to properly clear, and the fact there’s a global container shortage.

In short, this shortage will continue for the next couple of years.

  15. It’s a explicit law here in the UK that you cannot drive barefoot, or with sandals without a supported heel element that secures the shoe to your foot. Heels are fine.

It’s also illegal to drive without a shirt on as well. Something about how the seat belt can grip clothing better than bare skin.

Women here drive in heels all the time.

Lzzy can operate a Wah pedal on those heels!! Not easy when playing a guitar at the same time!!! I know her pedalboard is really small as well with only 4/5 pedals on it.

Amy has to dodge 3 pedalboards on stage, however her job is slightly easier as they are mostly all behind her.
