  1. Next week my wife and I will be taking a mini-vacation in Palm Springs. The only shoes I plan on bringing are a few pair of my sandals with 2 - 3 inch heels. I have worn heels out in public before, but always had some flats as a "back up" just in case. This time no flats, only heels - should be fun. If any of you are out there next week and see a guy in heels, it's probably me, so stop and say hello !!!! See ya... SF

  2. Hi Folks, Your spouse or significant other should definately know. As for me they are (were) both the same person. My wife - gf at the time - knew I liked to wear girls shoes, and she was OK with it. After we got married I began to wear heels, and made sure she knew. She still is OK with it, we routinely wear heels together. It is always better to be "up front." Take care... SF

  3. Hi, I like your post, you make some good points. I wear heels because they look and feel fine. I wear hh sandals almost exclusively (in public - gasp) without any problems. One pair that I have look a lot like the Franco Sarto slides you have posted. Wearing "womens" shoes is no big deal to me, my spouse or the folks out there that see me daily. SF......

  4. Shyguy, Keep wearing those heels. I have worn womens shoes (flats) since I was 16 years old (mid 40's now). About 7 years ago I began to wear heels, I wish I had started sooner. The first few times out I was a nervous wreck, but with each time out I felt more comfortable. Now I go out in heels feeling very confident. Fortunately I have a wonderful wife who is OK with me in heels, and that makes things even better !! I still have not seen any other guys out here in California in heels, I wish more guys would wear heels in public. SF...

  5. I was "indirectly" caught in a similar manner last summer. My wife and I had earlier in the week gone out to dinner, and we both wore heels. Before we left the house, we took some pictures of us together, I was in a pair of slingback thongs and the wife was in a pair of sexy mules. When the pictures came back, we left them on the kitchen counter. My mother-law stopped in to visit and picked up the pack of pictures and beagn to look at them before either my wife or I could do anything. When she got to the ones of us dressed to go out to dinner she said that we looked like a cute couple. Then she looked closer and said "nice heels" refering to my sandals. She asked if the shoes were mine (an interesting question since I was wearing them), and said I looked nice in them and that we both looked "cute." Ever since then when she looks at our pictures she asks, "are you in heels?" She did not seem too shocked to see her son-in-law in high heels and has not yet asked her daughter - my wife - to divorce me. ha ha SF

  6. Hi, The types of heels I would "like" to wear in public are the same type that I "do" wear in public - sandals with 2 to 3 inch heels, preferably thongs. As said in an earlier post, men's shoes are so ugly. I like the look and feel of womens heels. Can't wait for summer to get here!! Too bad more guys don't wear heels out, I sometimes feel like I am the only one !! SF

  7. Well...... I'm going to be the odd man out on this thread. I enjoy wearing sandals, seems most of the posts here are for boots. I have about 8 pairs of heeled sandals (block, blade and wedgie heels), both in thong and strappy styles. The heels are from 2 to 3 inches. Have been wearing 'em out in public more and more for the last 5 years. It's fun going out in heels, hardly anyone notices, the few that do usually have a positive comment, or at least remain neutral. SF

  8. I wear clear toenail polish ALL the time. If you wear sandals your feet MUST look nice. In addition to the clear polish, I use moisturizer on my feet and pluck the hair from my toes. The result, nice looking feet that look good in heeled sandals. Too often you see men (and women) in sandals - heels and flats - that look ugly!!!! SF

  9. Hi Guys, Love this topic, and just have to throw my two cents in. I have been wearing flat womens sandals since a teenager (in my 40's now), and have NEVER had a problem. I also wear clear nail polish and it's no big deal, except that my feet/toes look better when in sandals. For the past 4 years, I have been also wearing womens sandals in public with a 2 or 3 inch heel. Usually I get no reaction to the heels either - well occasionally a stare or smile - sometimes even a compliment. I wear the heels as a guy with denim or cotton pants, the heel is not that much concealed, as a matter of fact, it is pretty obvious for someone who is looking at shoes/feet. I have 7 pairs of heeled sandals, and two are almost identical to "a" and "b," I also have another pair that looks like "c" but with a block heel. I spent a week in Palm Springs last month an wore only heeled sandals, it was great! OK... That's my 2 cents!! I'm done!!! SF

  10. Last week the wife and I were in Palm Springs and I wore heeled sandals the whole time. On two occasions women made positive comments about my heels. One lady said the heels (a pair of wood wedgie sandals) looked good on me. The other lady said the we (me and the wife) looked "cute" in our T-strap thongs with a chunky heel (and she was right - we did!)... SF

  11. Good topic..... My wife knows, we wear heels together all the time. A few close friends and family know too, they have seen my heels around the house but never been out with any of them in heels (but I plan on "fixing" that soon). My mother-in-law has seen pictures of me in heels on trips. Her comment to me and the wife was "nice heels." And even after seeing the pics, she still talks to me. ha ha.... SF

  12. Scotty, Which heels did you get at Penny's? They have a lot of neat styles in larger sizes. I almost got a pair of sandals from them this summer, but I already have too many heels!!! My wife is OK with heel too... We love to shoe shop together!!! SF

  13. UPDATE....... Well we made it back, the trip was fun, fun, fun.... We left for Palm Springs, (about a 6 hour drive from central CA) I was wearing a pair of Steve Madden wooden wedgie slip on's with about a 3 in heel (my wife also had on an identical pair). We drove to Palm Springs, stopped for gas and breakfast, checked into the hotel, no one batted an eye. For the rest of the trip - 5 days - I wore heels except for the time we spent lounging by the pool. Also wore a pair of Franco Sarto "strappy" thongs with a 2 1/2 in block heel, a pair of Newport News T-strap thongs with a 2 in heel, and a pair of black slides with a 2 1/2 inch tapered heel. Wore the heels druing breakfast, lunch, dinner, day and night, and while shopping and running errands. On the drive back from Palm Springs, we had lunch and took a walk through downtown Santa Barbara and Solvang. I wore denim pants or cargo pants with the sandals, the heels were not really covered that much, one could clearly see they were high heel sandals. Never did anyone give me a negative reaction or did anyone make a rude comment. A few did notice the heels by staring, but both the wife and I got the impression that the stares were out of curiosity rather than disapproval. Two women in Palm Springs did mention my heels, one lady said they looked good on me, and another said she thought my wife and I looked "cute" in matching sandals. Moral of the story..... This was my most agressive experience at wearing heels and it was FUN!! If you saw my earlier post, I did not take any flats as a "backup," so all I had to wear were heels. I had a most positive and relaxing experience. Wearing heels was a good confidence builder, any of you folks out there that are still in the closet, come on out, it ain't that bad!! Hey, Loveheel.... Thanks for the comments... Now it's your turn!! See ya.... SF

  14. Tomorrow morning my wife and I leave for an extended weekend in Palm Springs. The only shoes I plan on bringing are a few pair of my sandals with 2 - 3 inch heels. I have worn heels out in public before, but always had some flats as a "back up" just in case. This time no flats, only heels - should be fun. Will report back on what, if anything happens!! See ya... SF

  15. HI.... Just got a new pair of espadrille sandals from Newport News. They are an off-white color with a 3 inch heel (almost), and have tie up ankle straps. I wasn't really sure if I would like them, but after wearing them around for a while they look and feel great! I have usually worn thongs, these are the first non-thong type of sandals that I have tried. Anyone else enjoy espadrilles? SF

  16. You "hit the nail on the head," most of the time our greatest fear is in our heads. I have been wearing heels in public for about 4 years now and each time out I get more confident. I can remember my first few times, I was essentially "terrified" but kept telling myelf "I can do this!" Only a few close friends know I love to wear heels, the friends we ran across while out shopping did not know I wore heels - guess they know now!! SF

  17. Payless shoes has come a long way in the past few years. They now have quite a few very nice styles in sizes up to 12. Usually if you can't find what you want in the store it is available online. I have several pairs of heels that I got at Payless. SF

  18. A few weeks ago my wife and I bought a pair of matching heels (sandals). They are a pair of Nine West slides with a wooden sole (similar to a pair of scholls), and have a 2 - 2 1/2 inch heel. I had planned to wear them while out of town where there would be less of a chance of running into someome I / we know. This past Sunday the wife and I went shopping all day in our local area. She was wearing her new sandals and I figured that "today was the day" and put on my matching pair. We spent the whole day shopping and running errands at different stores, and with one exception no one noticed or commented. A 10 -12 year old girl with her mom stared and stared and whispered among themselves - presumably about our matching shoes. We even ran across two people that we knew, this was my biggest fear, one couple said nothing, the other said we looked "cute" in our matching shoes. Overall, it was a very relaxing and confidence building trip. My wife and I both laughed about the trip, we both had fun in our heels!! I plan on doing it again soon! SF

  19. I like your story!!! It is FUN wearing heels outside. My wife and I have about 5 pairs of heels that we wear out together, most of the time no one notices, but when they do, the say we make a cute couple with our matching heeled sandals!! Keep wearing your heels out, after all, it is summer !!! SF

  20. Worst: While shopping for a card at a halmark shop two late teen girls working at the store noted my sandals - slides with a 2 inch heel. Both saw my shoes and began to take less than discreet looks, then finally began to laugh out loud after I made my purchase and left. Best: While in line at a bank a woman in her late 40's early 50's asked me about my shoes - thong slingbacks with a 2 1/2 inch heel. She said they looked nice - never did say anything about the shoes being womens or high heels. Most of the time: No reaction at all and I feel good wearing heels !!! Why should girls have all the fun ???
