  1. Past hour
  2. Well, I would like to think that I "finally came out OK". Unfortunately, I wasted so many of my younger years with self loathing/doubt/insecurity. One of the only advantages of advanced age is that I finally "don't give a crap" about what others think, for the most part. I think I look good in my boots, which is the most important thing....
  3. Today
  4. From my perspective, you did it right. Get that stuff out of the way when it doesn't count for much. You see, I was a good kid. Not perfect, but never caused any trouble. As a result, I didn't start doing stupid stuff until I was in my 40s. Not a great way to do things.
  5. I took the day off so I could take care of some things. While I was in the grocery store, I saw an older lady (by older, I mean at least as old as me) wearing OTK snakeskin boots with 3 1/2" block heels and a demin miniskirt. I have no idea who she is, but I have this feeling I've seen her before. I was in no mood for unnecessary interaction on that occasion, so I passed up the opportunity to learn more, despite the fact that I was wearing heels myself.
  6. Right, but what IS the quality of this manufacturer? That's what I asked in my original post.

  9. You and me both!
  10. Yes, I'm sure immature teen age boys will always be an issue. What an awful age... Wish I could repeat my teenage years, and do it right...
  11. It's funny how everybody's experience is a little different. I have never had any trouble with teenaged girls, at least in this decade. It's the boys who tend to make rude comments, often behind my back, evidently. The girls all coo over my shoes.
  12. I need to see an average of 6 stilettos a day for a recession. But we are on the way.
  13. Good for you! Yes, I remember hearing a few school age girls giggling while riding the escalator behind me as well. I try to remember that most negative reactions come from guys who are secretly frustrated, fearful of exploring a hidden fascination with heels. I had to remember the old saying "never let them see you sweat" in order to get through some unpleasant encounters. I just try to remember all the positive comments I have received over the years, oftentimes from guys.
  14. Grumpy old person, male or female, giving negative comments because things are not the way they were decades ago. Couldn't care less. Same with some giggling teenagers, who are perhaps insecure about themselves and notice everything standing out from the crowd. I don't wear stilettos or high heels in public, just moderate 5-8 cm block heeled oxfords or boots, but often with leggings or tight leather pants from "wrong" side of the aisle. Super comfortable, btw. Anyway, only looks with negative comments have been (like once or twice a year) mostly from men in their 20s or 30s who have moved here, shall we say from warm countries with lot of sand and super-conservative society. Other than that, few notice and even less looks or comments. Ofc I live in a big city in liberal-minded North Europe, could be different in a small town in US Midwest for example.
  15. I had my first eye lasered yesterday. The procedure is called Direct SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty), and it is designed to reduce eye pressure while being minimally invasive. I was told that it would take about 15 minutes. That was not really an accurate description of how it went. The actual lasering took somewhere in the neighborhood of two seconds (you mean that's IT?), and then I had to wait around for 15 minutes after that, so they could make sure that I was not one of the few whose eye pressure spiked right after, or had some other adverse reaction. For once, I was in the majority, and got sent on my way 15 minutes later with a slight dull headache. I do have something relevant to say about the experience, that is, high heel related. Two weeks ago when I went for the consultation/testing portion of this experience, one of the techs I had went on and on about my shoes. I didn't have her yesterday, but she went out of her way to flag me down in the hallway (she recognized me from two weeks ago) just to see what I was wearing that day. I happened to be wearing burgandy Mary Janes, which I wore because one of the few non-wrinkled shirts I have left is that matching color. I am really behind on the ironing.
  16. Does this mean we are officially in a recession?
  17. Several (4) more tall stilettos at a meeting today, one with spikes. Only 30 people at the meeting. Been seeing at least 2 tall stilettos every day this week.
  18. Glad all is well at your end! Very quiet too at mine. Just moving along the canal
  19. Well folks, it has been an exhausting month, but a good one. I haven't had a whole lot to say, and it seems that neither has anyone else. I haven't even bought any shoes in over two months! On the other hand, I have been walking a lot. I hope all are well.
  20. Ending the working week in my black 4 inch Jessica Simpson heels

  22. That’s so cool to hear how heels helped with your drumming. I noticed something kind of similar when I used to rehearse for performances.
  23. Still very few along the towpath, although I’m in a town now - about 15,000 population - so perhaps …
  24. I have been seeing more and more heels at work. Mostly 3+inch block heels, but heels none the less.
  25. Open back and toe heels today!
