Himark Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Here's my idea of what men's boots with heels could be and should be. Strappy stilletoes and such are great fun and definitely have their place, but even most women don't wear that kind of footgear on a day to day basis to go to the library or to go grocery shopping. For every day use, most women buy heels that are practical. Recently I purchased a pair of Clarks Indigo Saunter boots in US Women's size 12. Of course I had to order them online (from Zappos), because no local store carries that size. The heel is described as 2 3/4 inches, but in size 12, it actually measures 3 inches. I have a high instep and these boots have a fairly narrow ankle, so I have to struggle a bit to get into them, but once they're on, they fit very well, and they're very comfortable. They have a slightly western look, but are definitely not cowboy boots. I find they are perfect boots to go anywhere, anytime. No challenges, no strange looks, no comments, no worries. 99.9% of us can't afford the heeled men's boots offered by YSL or Dior. If Clarks were to take the Saunter model and modify it just a little, making the whole boot and the ankle somewhat wider, sizing it for men, I wonder how well it would sell from the men's side of the store.
Bubba136 Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Great looking boots. I agree that no man would have a problem wearing them in public. I have several pair of loafer style sports shoes with 3" and 4" heels that are almost worn out because I constantly wear them in public. Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
new_look Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 cowboy or uban heel styles would be a good start for men, as they are masculinely associated in a way anyhow and the shapes can be quite sharp, also opening a pointed toe era perhaps for men?
Dr. Shoe Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Indeed. I wear boots like that without a second thought... Graduate footwear designer able to advise and assist on modification and shoe making projects.
HeelD Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Those boots look good, and I have a pair very similar. I'm a big fan of Clark's shoes, as they make styles both sexes can wear no problems IMO. Last week I bought a pair of Lime Juice ankle boots. Black, with a 5cm Cuban style heel and stylish buckle, I fell in love with them. I haven't actually worn them out yet but they are comfortable and aren't too different to YSL and Dior's efforts (and for only a fraction of the price too!). Heel-D - Freestyling since 2005
Bootking Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Either one would be great, but for me, I wouldn't want them wider as my foot as quite narrow! Also, knee high would be a nice improvement. It's all about the heel!
dressboots Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Knee high here too. Great heel for everyday wear, I agree. classic style high heel boots
dressboots Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Forgot to also comment they have a timeless style I look for in boots. So many boots are going to be out of style next season. Women seldom wear last season's out of date fashions so why would men? Stiletto fashions seem to change more rapidly. Don't get me wrong. As others have said stilettos have their place as well just not for errands. Timeless styling also equals a better investment. classic style high heel boots
Thighboots2 Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Himark Right on the money. Perfect look. TB2 Are you confusing me with someone who gives a damn?
Boot Guy Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 You are in luck! They come in knee high and are called The Rambler. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/28214139/c/72.html And they come in brown suede with lace up fronts and are called Rove. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/28214129/c/129234.html Both in sizes up to 12!
wood&metal Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Here are some examples that I feel would work well for guys.. Unfortunately, most are rather expensive.. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7270210/c/7.html I have a pair of these.. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7355605/c/118856.html http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7259071/c/3.html http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7279987/c/3.html http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7355584/c/118846.html http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7312705/c/3.html Never frown because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.
Bootking Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I just don't know why we would only want to have that cowboy or motorcycle look. That's fine for the "casual" thing but I would much rather have a more refined, sleeker look. It's all about the heel!
Guest Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 I love the 1st couple of pair myself, but I have found that ZAPPOS seems to ask for TOP $ for their footwear, even their so-called "sales" arnt that much of a savings-they are a GLOBAL market seller for ANYONE that has the money to pay for them (when you consider THAT, they can AFFORD to ask top $)
Puma Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 After a quick look at the Zappos site, I saw these which I like very much. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/33720375/c/208.html
roniheels Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Puma... Love those boots! I wear pairs like those previously shown in this thread to work. But I would think about wearing the one's you showed to work.
johnieheel Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Perfect for every day anywhere. I myself prefer a little higher heel. (I'm short:( real men wear heels
