Thanks a lot! I saw a pair of gold stilettos at Bananashoes, I'd love to wear at X-mas parties. They looked good, but the "pu" made me a bit suspicious. The price too, but that's very difficult to find out about, I think. E.g. Italianheels claim that their shoes are of genuine leather, complete with skin lining and a leather sole, but they are dirt cheap too. I'll keep searching! ;)

This is what I love about this board! You learn something new every day! I had no idea what "pu" meant before today! Way cool! ;)

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

In general, I love them. If you get them you're going to have to take some pics for us of them on your feet. Sounds like a fair price for them as well.

Thanks! I'd love to wear them with a dark grey pencil skirt. I am still a bit shocked about the price though. I think, I'll mail them and ask about the quality. Do any of the board members have any experience with them (Italianheels, I mean)?

Yes.

Their shoes are real leather, and very well made, although can run narrow.

Customer service was good too.

Oh, oh, I have spent the entire day measuring my feet - or rather measuring my right foot, since it is the largest - and according to Italianheels' size chart, I am at least a size 41, maybe even a size 42. I normally wear a size 39 in German shoes, 39½ in French or Spanish shoes and a 40 in Italian shoes. The shoes from Italianheels must be extremely small. This also means that the heel might end up 13½ cm/ 5.5" which is a little too much for daily wear, I think. At least I haven't worn shoes that high as streetwear the last 25 years (could get the habit back, of course). ;) I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the link! This e-tail shoe shopping is a bit of a jungle. I'm so much in love with these that I'm tempted to order:

But can it really be true they're made of leather at that price?

They're very nice indeed. A little different to what you normally see, I think you'd stand out from the crowd (for a good reason!).

A 5.5" heel? That would certainly turn some heads. Of course if you buy them then we'd love to see some pictures of you wearing them.

"pu" in my book stands for 'pretty unhealthy'. Pu leather does not breathe like leather and so causes perspiration - which can make the shoe smell. It also does not "give" like leather and so a badly fitting shoe can stay that way sometimes. As a rule of thumb - ALL Italian shoes are narrow, as are a lot of Spanish shoes also - trust me, I have trouble sometimes as I have broad feet for a gal.

rubberheel I don't think those shoes are so cheap. Here in Brazil a real leather made pair of shoes is cheaper than that. Heels for all! Flavio.

I have to agree with pussyinboots pu equals Problems for U Basically they are plastic, which for me is a problem, as my feet need to breathe. I haven’t tried Italianheels, but the problem with all mail order is that you cannot check the size, the length and width changes between manufacturers so one cannot rely on the size alone. Since each mail order supplier themselves source shoes from different suppliers/ manufacturers even trying to gauge the correct size from previously bought shoes may not help. I would try to find out the manufacturer of the shoes you are looking at, perhaps a local shop may stock the same type (but at a greater cost!) so you may get a better guide to size. In Scotland in Edinburgh there is a shop called Jenners, they stock the same shoes as I buy, but via a friend in Manchester I can get the same shoes custom made by the same manufacturer (like you my right foot is larger, so they use their standard-lasts but for different sizes!) - and cheaper! I agree that this material could be trouble with nylons or barefoot, but in a boot with substantial stockings it's usually for me quite comfy.

Thanks for the replies, everybody! It's IMPOSSIBLE to get anything nice with a heel on in Denmark. I have already waited too many years for the mentality of the country to change - now I'll try e-tailers. I AM nervous about it - I fear an endless sending shoes back and forth until I find a pair that fits. Not to mention the fear that they just charge my credit card, and I never see the shoes. ;) Well, for now I've given up on the brown pumps from Italianheels. They are too high for the purpose (did I write that?). Instead I have ordered a pair of ancle boots form Silhouette. There's a picture in the thread "I just ordered these". Please, take a look and tell me what you think - about the boots - and about Silhouette, if you know them.
