Geoffrey Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 I would like to know who wears nailpolish too when they go out on heels. I wear dark colors, like green and dark red. Those are metallic colors as well.
Charlie Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 I used to wear clear nail polish when I was into finger picking my guitar a few years ago. The nail polish helped my nails to be more durable. I always felt like my finger nails couldn't "breathe" with polish on. I think that anyone who wants to wear nail polish should. I like the look of black nail polish. Charlie Everything I say is a lie!.......I'm lying
Trolldeg Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 sure, I use nailpolish most of the time. painted my toenails now too, since I've bought a pair of sandals for summer.
Firefox Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 Nail polish is about the only other accessory, apart from heeels, more commonly associated with women that I wear from time to time. Purple or sparkly purple is my favourite colour. I often wear it at Christmas, or for parties. I do however find it a bit tedious for normal use. I'm quite a sporty person and a handy man so it's always getting scratched or chipped especially on the right forefinger and thumb. Hence not too pratical for all-the-time wear. I don't have any problem putting it on though, and I got complimented this Christmas a couple of times on how well it was applied.
ShockQueen Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 I've dabbled a bit here and there as well, although I like finding colors that match something else on me (earrings, heels, etc.) Most of the time, it's clear, or hot fuschia (for my 4" pumps of that color), or purple (one of my two colors this year - the other being black). Geoffrey Posted May 13, 2002 Author Posted May 13, 2002 I guess you're right. Nailpolish is seperated from heels, but I just wanted to know. I find this kinda strange that I just like nailpolish and wearing high heels. I dislike wearing a dress and I also dislike make-up on my face, I hate shaving my legs and also wearing other womens clothes, except for heels of course
Firefox Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 Oh well you're pretty similar to me then Geoffrey. I have to say many of the male heel people go further with different items, but I'm more conservative in my dress habits. The important thing is wearing what pleases you though, that's what Freestyle fashion is all about.
shyguy Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 I too like heels, but not any of the other "female" clothes. I have tried nail polish but as a mechanic, it's a bit of a no no as far as chips go. BTW hi everyone this is my first post He was so narrow minded he could see through a keyhole with both eyes. Brown's Law: If the shoe fits, it's ugly
Charlie Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 shyguy: Be sure to introduce yourself on the Hellos/Goodbyes board. Pleased to meet you btw! Charlie Everything I say is a lie!.......I'm lying
Francis Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 I have a few colours in nail polish. Black, black with gold glitter, metallic blue and a bright red for those times that I'm really showing off As a general rule I don't wear it, but if the situation calls for it, then I'll pick a colour to suit
Joak Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 I wear clear nailpolish polish sometimes - well most of the time I wear closed toed shoes and I just use nail polish if there's a chance to show my toes - like here: best wishes Joak
Calv Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 I sometimes put nailpolish on my toes, and more rarely on my fingers. I've only worn red polish out once, on red-nose day last year, but have worn clear polish out on several occasions. I do like nail polish though, especially all the different colours available now. I like the picture Joak, and the mules and shiny toes. Very nice. Do your own thing. Don't be a victim of conformity. Calv
shyguy Posted May 15, 2002 Posted May 15, 2002 Those mules are great Joak. Also loved your site, and that was what led me here, so thanks Joak. I hop no one minds a me too post to get me out of these loafers, they pinch a little. He was so narrow minded he could see through a keyhole with both eyes. Brown's Law: If the shoe fits, it's ugly
Joak Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 Great to hear that you like my newest pictures! This was my first experiment with nail polish and it's good to hear that it looks well
Geoffrey Posted May 16, 2002 Author Posted May 16, 2002 Yeah I really like your site Joak. Keep up the great work Today I had a positive comment from a women about my nails and she said that I'm a trendsetter. I just hope that more people will say that and I also hope that they accept hi heels for men of course
ShockQueen Posted May 17, 2002 Posted May 17, 2002 To Joak: VERY nice pic of the white sandals and the nail polish! Those look really comfy! To Geoffrey: I hope you continue to be a trendsetter, and inspire more guys where you are to do as they please. SQ.....still busting societal molds with a smile...and a 50-ton sledge!
shyguy Posted May 18, 2002 Posted May 18, 2002 Here's an interesting development in my household. My wife who isn't sure about all this "feminisation" has spent the last 3 evenings trying out different coloured nail polishes on ME so she doesn't have to take hers off. I have a lovely shade of blue on my toenails at the moment. And she has got me in her mules to see if the polish looks ok on with the white 2" heels. I told her that's a great benefit of having a guy who likes heels for her husband. Maybe this is a new ploy some of you could use He was so narrow minded he could see through a keyhole with both eyes. Brown's Law: If the shoe fits, it's ugly
Chris Grevstad Posted May 31, 2002 Posted May 31, 2002 What was the question? Oh, yeah, do I wear nail polish when wearing heels? Yes. I wear nail polish (toes and fingers) all the time. Real fond of reds (pinks to deep burgundies) and some shades of white, silver and grey. In fact, I recently had acrylic nails put on, which has been a real fun experience. I like putting flowers and rhinestones on a couple of fingers and/or toes as additional decoration. I think when my nail tech gets some experience with an airbrush, I will give that a try. --chris

Van Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 I do ... sometimes. Toes : quite often Nails : a light varnish, not too obvious. Or bright red when really in the mood ... Vanessa
Laurieheels Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 I do, I wear nail polish! Oh, really? Wrong forum? But I count, I wear nail polish. Yes I know I am not a moderator for this forum. Yes I understand, this is for the guys. Okay, so I don't qualify in that respect. Sigh, so much for invading this forum! No, I do not need an escort, I can find my own way out, thankyouverymuch. Yes I am in that mood again.

Francis Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 Look out, Laurie's about! Who said we had to have a rigid barrier between the gender specific forums? Everyone is welcome whether you're male, female or both, neither or alien. Topic : Nail Polish Laurie wears it. No problem (personally, I think she's having too much fun)
Laurieheels Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 No, no dates, no men offering to spend money on me. I was just tried and hyper. Which I always enjoy. How can one be tired and hyper? Well, tired as in upper brain functions tired, so adrenaline comes along and the child jumps around. It's fun. I know that no one said I should stay out of this section, but I tend to leave you boys to your thing without convolluting it. I tend to be quite the typer with my opinions. Yes, I am having too much fun!
Dave Lipstick Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 Sure, I wear nail polish with open toed shoes all the time. Toes aren't the most attractive part of the body, so a bit of colour helps. However, I find that maintaining one's nails is a terrible chore and tend to go for manicures/pedicures every few weeks in lieu of the maintenance they should be getting. I don't envy the girls on this one!
ShockQueen Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 Laurie's POWER-POSTING  again! Wheeeee!!! Someday maybe I'll take the plunge and get the nails done, along with some acrylics, just for the experience. SQ.....still busting societal molds with a smile...and a 50-ton sledge!

FYI: The biggest obstacle to getting it right is the quality of polish you use followed by having a decent brush. To that end I have found that with rare exceptions, the primary ingredient should be BUTYL acetate, instead of the more usual ethyl acetate. The ORLY brand, ultimately from France, is the best I've found in this regard, although their color selection tends to be a bit conservative. The other brand on this side of the pond that I have found that is usually decent is Maybelline, surprisingly. The quality of Revlon is all over the map--you never know what it will be like until you open the bottle and try it. ShockQueen Posted June 6, 2002 Posted June 6, 2002 I've found that I just go for a nice color I see and then try it out. For only a couple of bucks, I'm not gonna gripe if I hit a lemon once or twice. If it's a good color, it's worth the risk! SQ.....still busting societal molds with a smile...and a 50-ton sledge!

I haven't tried Orly, but my favorite brand is OPI, who makes what I think is a top quality product. I usually thin it down some before use but I've never had any difficulty applying it. I've also had very good experience with Maybelline. --chris
