Bubba136 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Poor Mickey. Never did find out how she recovered from her earlier problem -- man, if she didn't have bad luck -- she wouldn't have any luck at all ... please give her our regards and wishes for a complete recovery and hopes for her staying in one piece...for awhile. Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
Shafted Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 Dawn, Very sorry to hear about Mickey. Heels or not I hope she completely recovers. BTW: I have no intention whatsoever to wear 6 inch heels out and about, because I know it's beyond my ability for long term wear. Shafted, the boots that is! Bubba136 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Oh, that's too bad, Shafted. I already had visions of you on the ladder chancing the marquee while the theatre emptys out and everyone had to pass you on the way. Shafted Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 I think I'll be sticking to off the shelf designs since in my size I have a lot to choose from. Shafted Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 Well fall is in the air here in Maine. While working at the theatre tonight, I decided to step out front for some fresh air. I was wearing my 3.5" stiletto Two Lips boot. At 62°F it was very refreshing and relaxing. After a few minutes, a young man and woman came passing by (probably in the 17 to 19 years of age). After I said good evening they stopped to talk awhile and the conversation went something like this. Woman: Wow, I love your boots! Me: Thanks. Man: I'd break me neck in those. Me: Well it is an aquired skill. Woman: Oh my God, look at those heels. Me: (lifting my pantleg) You should see my high ones. Woman: Your high ones? Me: Yea these are 3.5" heels I've worn up to 5". Man: Why would you want to wear them? Me: Because I can. Woman: Therefore you will. Me: Actually to be truthful, they just fit better than men's footwear. You see I have a C (narrow) width foot which is fairly difficult to fit with a men's shoe, but a women's B (medium) width is the same. Besides that they are fun to wear. Woman: They're women's boots? Me: Yep. It isn't very often that people will say something to me about them. If I have the balls to wear them, you'd think other's would have the balls to say something about them. I think they are just afraid to offend. Man: Well I've worn them as part of a Halloween costume, but I've never ever thought about wearing them whenever. After that I had to break away and go back inside. This had to be one of the best encounters yet. Shafted, the boots that is! BootBoy09 Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I have to admit, its postings like your Shafted that inspire me to go out streetheeling in my boots or heels. Knowing that there are a lot of people who are very accepting of our choice of footwear. Keep up the postings, Shafted, i've always enjoyed reading your posts BTW, which movie theatre do you work at in Maine?

Mickey S. Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Hi! @Shafted: Damn interesting thread you started!!! And it's very impressive what particular reactions you got on your footwear. The only thing I dare to wear currently are these: But only together with a long flared jeans that would cover most of the shoe. However, I must say that your stories from this thread gave my courage a huge boost. So, will see if I'm wearing my ankles boots tonite on the way out of the company: We have a marble floor in the lobby area causing the shoes to be quite noisy. And there's also always someone from Security behind the desk watching who's coming and leaving. Gonna be interesting... CU! -Mike

BootBoy09 Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 @Mickey S - Hope everything goes well in wearing your nice ankle boots outside. Please do get back to us as we would all like to know how the experience was for you. @Shafted - It's all your experiences with your co-workers to teenagers to everyday movie goers that helped me muster up the courage to go streetheeling. If there were negative experieces of course we wouldn't do it, but from everybody's experiences it isn't so bad! I started wearing my knee-high boots outside for the first time last year in November and from there I just continued to wear them whenever possible. My wife encourages me to wear my boots/heels more often, my best friend, she also likes it - although different, but she can see how it can be neat. I hope to get my first comments from the general public about it, help me build some confidence!
Shafted Posted September 15, 2005 Author Posted September 15, 2005 BootBoy09, Make a night out on the town with your wife with you both in heels if she wears them. Having a lovely lady at your arm is sure to help you build self confidence in public. After you've done this a few times, I think you'll find solo public outings much more enjoyable. Mickey S, Make those noises on that hard marble floor and enjoy them like the sweet music they are. Don't be afraid to pick up the pace a bit as well. Walking in heels is a lot like riding a bike the faster you go the more stable you are and the better your rythym. Ever notice that high heeled women have a rather fast paced gait? This is no accident. Shafted, the boots that is! Mickey S. Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Update: @Mickey S - Hope everything goes well in wearing your nice ankle boots outside. Please do get back to us as we would all like to know how the experience was for you. The boots made some noise but a lot less than expected. The girl behind the security-desk was busy answering the phone and didn't bat an eyelid although the lobby area was calm at that time and the shoes made their statement. I was even a bit disappointed that she didn't give a damn, not even a brief look. -- I must say that the ladies at the reception always look very good and should be experts because some of them do wear high heels 5" tall once in a while - one of them does that on a regular base. I haven't seen this particular gal wearing anything below 4.5" or so. At least it looks like that from remote. So I was really wondering why the lady behind the desk didn't care. Okay, I'll blame it on the phone... ;o) -- On the other hand, I'd say that means that I/one definately overemphasize/s that all the people you encounter first check on your footwear. It's only in your mind, I'd say. -- I even pushed it a bit further yesterday. When the aerobic class was finished in the evening I was getting into a conversation with the trainer (also a very attractive woman). Finally the thing came to shoes. I told her about my crush for high heels and that I wear such things regularily. She couldn't almost believe it so I went changing and waited for her outside the gym till she came out and I showed her my 'secret'. She was still like as if that wouldn't gonna happen that I wear high heels ... just like that. At the end she thought that it would be cool, wasn't distracted at all and left with a big grin on her face when we parted. So I consider this positive experience. CU! -Mike
Shafted Posted September 16, 2005 Author Posted September 16, 2005 Great story, mickey S! Out of curiousity did she know she was going to meet you outside. Some women might find that kind of creepy, if you surprise them outside wearing heels. Just food for thought. Shafted, the boots that is! Mickey S. Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Hi! I only explained a couple of minutes earlier to her that I'm 'high heeled' today / allday and that I would show her if there was a chance. We met again at the fitness studio's check-out desk (I didn't expect that but it must have taken her approximately as long as me to have a shower and to get changed) and I told her that I would come up with some 'evidence' in a second to prove what I'd told her in the class room a couple of minutes ago. Once we both were done checking out and left the studio I showed her. -- So, it wasn't like that I waited out in the dark behind a tree or something (bad, verrry bad idea). This happens only in trashy movies... ;o) So, yes, she didn't know that she was gonna meet me but she knew that had promised her evidence. I was in the process of checking out when she came back from the change room. CU! -Mike

Dawn HH Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Mickey S.:-) That's quite an interesting story that you related to us about wearing your heels. Go to it, my friend! Keep the stories coming. Shafted:-) What you say about having a lovely lady on your arm while street-heeling sure is true for building confidence. Mickey and I go everywhere street-heeling together. When she wasn't able to go with me, I did it myself, even walking through a crowded hospital to visit her at times. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
rxrenesis Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Hey gang sorry I've been amoung the missing lately. Here's a pair of my street heeling boots. Sorry for the picture quailty. Bought them at DSW on a road trip a while back. Walked into Denny's for lunch and nobody batted an eye. rx If the shoe fits BUY IT http://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a145/rxrenesis/Shoe%20Shots/
Dawn HH Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Rxrenesis:-) A nice pair of boots with a block heel that's good for street-heeling. I would prefer black myself instead of the light color. Enjoy and wear them well. I must check out the DSW store again. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
JeffB Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Nice color! Is that camel or tan? It's hard to tell. Anyway, congrats on your foray in those boots. They're quite a sharp style. I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!
Shafted Posted September 19, 2005 Author Posted September 19, 2005 rxrenesis, Nice boots. In that color though, I'd probably match them with blue denim in a light wash. Haven't shopped at DSW myself, but they sure have some interesting TV commercials. Shafted, the boots that is! Bubba136 Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I agree! Nice boots. You shouldn't have any problem wearing hem anywhere. Even in that eye-catching color. Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.
rxrenesis Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 The boots are camel color. The flash made them lighter than normal. I've had them for a year of so. If the shoe fits BUY IT http://s10.photobucket.com/albums/a145/rxrenesis/Shoe%20Shots/
Dawn HH Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Rxrenesis:-) Thanks for the up-date on the color of the boots. The flash really did change the color for you. Cheers--- Dawn HH High Heeled Boots Forever!
Shafted Posted September 24, 2005 Author Posted September 24, 2005 Well I just had to try out my Highest Heel Dragon boots today out in public. Yes, they are 5" stiletto knee high boots. I was going to wait till I had a pair of jeans with slitted side seams, but for now I opted for cuffing the jeans. http://show.imagehosting.us/show/714910/12244/user_12244/T0_12244_714910.jpg I decided to go grocery shopping while wearing them at the local Hannafords just as you see me. Boy, did I get a lot of looks. Some of those poor people were downright startled. No a comment to be heard though. Shafted, the boots that is! Bubba136 Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Thanks, Shafted. You look good to me. Although the boots are rather "eye catching" I don't understand why your appearance would cause any discomfort to anyone. (Are you going to wear them to work?)
